yes im gettign the email but i thought we were letting people see what it can be like to order a knife.

to be truthful if the steel was here today i still would not be able to even start on it till next month at the least (im back ordered )really its closer to next year. i also have 2 shows that i need a few stock knives for till jan 1.

you seem to need it a bit faster then that so if there is another maker that fill the bill then by all means

if that maker wants any heat treat info from me i will give it freely (that goes for any maker that wants info )

well thank you again, not to get to far off the origional topic of thread, but i initially wanted to put ivory on the handle, but being an unknown maker as far as reputation, i'd have never got what i wanted as far as price goes, outta the knife had i used real ivory. hell i cant even get $200 for the dag on thing as it is. lol

I'll take it under advisement while noting that one might read other recent threads and replies. Besides, if you've seen me post on here you'd know I'm nowhere near the point of being difficult :rolleyes:

I was told Alpha Knife Supply I'll put in the order right now.. just still debating the thickness

ok I sent an email to GLWJ I thought why not keep this in our community. Hopefully they can help :)

If the 3V from alpha is like the 440C and CPM154 I have, it's slightly oversized so that you can remove the scale and get correct thickness. They had a couple pieces around .200 that I think would be appropriate for a 3/16" knife.
 
Well I gave folts a call for a quote/time frame.
I want butch to make her but he's backlogged. Maybe I should make 2 of them? ;)
 
I can't seem to find a supplier that has a ~11" length 1.25" width and .200" thickness.... I've been scouring the net....
 
Alpha Knife Supply CPM 3V P/N 16304 .216" x 11.1" x 3.1" $44.00

You'll have a piece left over for another knife. AKS is the only place outside of Crucible that I personally know of selling 3V. An extra .015" thickness isn't going to matter with your knife.

we can work out the difference so far as extra steel or i can send you back the extra for another project
