DO NOT BUY FROM Spydie Guys or habadash2010 on EBAY!!

Did the Buy it Now for a Gayle Bradley paying a bit more than I wanted to to have it now. About the time I should have been receiving the knife I got an e-mail stating that the knife was backordered and it would be at least the end of the month at the soonest before it would ship. If I buy something on Ebay I assume it's ready to ship and that's why it's being listed. They refunded my money a couple days after I requested them to so I can't be too butt hurt. I put the money toward another millie :D.

It may be a business...I'm just not real sure what kind of business.

Jess is personable enough on youtube. But the more I read and watch how they do things that old question "Would you buy a used car from this guy?" keeps going thru my head.

Not sales related, but I lost a lot of interest in anything he had to say when he put up a vid on how to clean stickum off your knife blade by going thru some convoluted process, involving multiple steps including setting the blade on fire (and burning his thumb:eek:), rather than just putting some WD-40 on it an wipeing it clean.:confused:
 
called the number and nobody answers even though the message says they answer between 9 and 1 monday - friday.
 
I've always suspected them of shill bidding too. It's impossible to track now with eBays new policy on hiding the bidder's identity. But here's a small snapshot of what looks like shill bidding to me. This buyer ddtcity won over 30 auctions in a two week period. And I watched this happen with this same buyer for months, he has won hundreds of Spydieguys auctions. Note the private feedback too. With this guy bidding on almost every Spydieguys auction, you can forget about sniping a low price.

And this is only two weeks:eek:

Or I may be wrong and this ddtcity guy has a knife addiction problem that rivals anyone on this forum. :o If that's the case, my apologies.

Its possible, esp considering after ebay and paypal fee's, he probably loses $ on many of those models at those prices. Who would want to do that?

On the other hand, there is a lot of variety on that list, and a helluva a lot of good deals, maybe the buyer has a lot of $/good credit & knows how to spot a good deal. If I could do it, I would.

Ebays final value fee's also correspond with the final sold price so if he is jackin the prices up, at least the fee's will hit him harder.

From my own experiences, Ive managed to score MANY knives from spydieguys that I KNOW he can not be making $ on. Heck I got a NIB SE dfly a few weeks ago for under $25 shipped from him. I know a dealer who I could buy direct from if I wanted, he (the dealer I know personally) wouldnt have to pay ebay/paypal fee's and he still couldnt get me that knife for that price.

I for one will continue to bid on his auctions when I see a deal I can not pass on. If I bid and lose, oh wellbee :)
 
He must have some inside connection with Spyderco or I would think they would drop him as a dealer. I don't think they have any problem selling knives that they need to tolerate him just for the sales.
 
They just announced on their youtube channel that they will no longer be selling on ebay. I wouldn't be surprised if this thread had something to do with it.

Then again, look at The Blade Shop and how many brands they sell (well, not actually sell because that would imply actually having them in stock and shipping them eventually). I once had a problem with them with regards to a Lone Wolf and I contacted that manufacturer and they said they could not take action against rogue dealers.:grumpy:

Anyway, SpydieGuys, good riddance.

This guy is still at it, he is using a different name though. Ebay must have not been that bad. Look at the pictures, they are the same, just a different background.
habadash2010 is the new name.
 
I am not so sure it is him. Only one way to know: ask a question about an item, if he answers it is not him.
 
on their website, under "customer service" Jess advertises a "low price guarantee". Keep in mind, his prices usually are not the best deals available to say the least. When asked about his "low price guarantee" since I found better prices basically everywhere else I looked, he justified the price difference by saying he and his business provide better service than anyone else and sells newly released models before anyone else has them available and I shouldnt be concerned over "a few measly bucks" were his exact words. Just for a point of reference, the concern was a price difference of about $45 from what he was trying charge vs the internet prices found pretty much any where else you looked. Hey, whatever man .. no problem. I was more than happy taking my "measly few bucks" and repeated business some where else.
