You may not agree, but lying and deception are errors (or mistakes) in judgment. That in no way makes them right. His actions were wrong and I dont think anyone here is saying he was not deceptive in his actions. He is now making them right.
What will be the fallout (punishment)? Trust has been broken, credibility has been ruined, and trading with him will probably never again happen. If it does, safeguards will likely need to be in place as trust is rebuilt.
