Don't trade with Buck 112

Hi Ira,

You may not agree, but lying and deception are errors (or mistakes) in judgment. That in no way makes them right. His actions were wrong and I don’t think anyone here is saying he was not deceptive in his actions. He is now making them right.

What will be the fallout (punishment)? Trust has been broken, credibility has been ruined, and trading with him will probably never again happen. If it does, safeguards will likely need to be in place as trust is rebuilt.

I'm not patting him on the back, I am simply giving him the opportunity to atone his actions. I agree with Ron, that he made a big mistake in judgement. I don't want to sit and stew in anger over this, I choose to remain optimistic. that's all.

-Dave

Ira,
I think Kasper deserves a pat on the back for doing the right thing. The next guy that does this probably isn't going to get the same break as Kasper did. Kasper got off easy, in part because he's young and overseas. Both of these provided Kasper some relief and insulation. I'm happy that Kasper appears to have learned from his theft attempt and is making things right. That's always a good sign. Everyone here has gone down the wrong road at one time or another. Kasper is only human, just like the rest of us. Everyone needs forgiveness - Everyone! I for one thank Jesus for that!

Dan.

you both walked right into it, but I will not do it. YES I WILL:p :p :p

If I break into your house and steal your knife collection, is this also simply an "error in judgement"? AND, should your wife come home and I tie her up to give me a chance to escape, is that also simply compounding the "original mistake"?

I am all for giving the kid a break here, but not WITHOUT a price!!!!

I say cut him some slack, but also cut off one knutt. This way he can still remain productive, but have something to lose should he become "CRIMINAL" again.

And Ron, I don't give a crap what Cliff says, I love my SOG! ;)

EDITED TO ADD: Never mind!!!!

More Good news! I have confirmed that the first of two wires which Kasper said he sent, is safe in my account!

Dan.

Lunch time reading this,
Hey Ira, I've been carry'in the tin in one form or another be it a copper or presently a fishcopper:D for a long time ( not as long as you:p ) Remember when we thought people were good.

This kid could have just disappered forever. Enough of these types show up. Yeah he f'd up. So he trys to make good ( remorse ) and we reintergrate him. I'd think the lad has to curtail any purchases as obviously he has an issue in regards to knives/internet/esteem
Then we see if this internet thing is a total addiction where it should be brought to his attention that perhaps some sort of assistance is suggested.
Remember when we thought we could help people.

Just my 2cents

To everybody:
I am thankfull that so many of you wants to give me a second chance. But still I will take a loooong break from the internet and the forums when this is all over. The last transfer is in the process of being delivered and it should be there tomorrow or the day after. I have presented reciepts for this. The internet is in many ways an addiction and it is not good when you let it control you. Preparation for further distrbution are being made at this moment and I have gathered all the funds at a person with higher integrity than me. So Ira and the other critics, save your breath. I will be leaving anyways and none of you have to get into a fight over it. I may return someday (when I have a more sain relationship to the internet), this has been an expensive lesson but nether the less a good one.

I thank you for all the great times that I have had here.

Take care. Kasper.

NB. Contact can be made by email.

To say the least, this has been very surprising. I was a very safe bet to assume that all of your knives and money would have been long gone. To see that Buck 112 admits to a major screw up, and is doing what it takes to return money is something I never expected him to do for you guys.

Kasper, you did something pretty darn bad, but I gotta say that it is great watching you make it right for these guys. I suppose since you goofed, that all you can do is try to redeem yourself which you seem to be doing in a big way. So far it looks like you will turn out just fine, and no doubt will be a better person for it. It sucks that it took something like this to wake you up, but the positive thing is that it seems to have worked.

Since you have proven (so far) that you have changed your ways for the better, why are you leaving now? Why not stay and enjoy and participate in discussions? Nothing says you only have to be here to aquire knives....you just need an interest in them and talking about them.

Anyways, nice to see you making right with these people....good job.

Richard,

I couldn't have said it better!

Regarding his leaving, it might be a good thing. Like an alcoholic must remove himself from booze, Kasper might need to remove himself from the internet (or at least from the commerce aspect of the internet). Until he learns his own limitations, a self imposed "exile" might not be all that bad a thing. Then he can come back with some inner strength and boundaries, and wind up more successful next time. With the way he’s dealing with this crisis, he’s certainly on his way to a better self. Crap ... enough psychobabble (Where the heck that come from? Did I say all that?).

Good job, Kasper. You’ve made me proud.

I am cynical as hell and not so forgiving. I think it's great that Kasper is doing the right thing. I think it's great that Kasper has admitted his guilt and is in the process of making those he wronged, right. I think it's great that in light of those who have come before him and ripped off another member of BFC, he is remaining to see this through and insure those whose property he stole will be made whole again.

BUT,

I cannot forgive someone simply because they admitted they have done something wrong and are doing what they should have done in the very beginning to make things right. I am one of those trusting soles who has never had a problem shipping my side of a deal without formalizing the other. When I engage in a deal with a member of BFC, their membership here is enough for me to trust they will keep their side of a deal. When a member of this forum gives their word, that's all that is needed as a guarantee that the deal will be 100% honest and up front.

certainly Kasper is not a sophisticated and calculating thief. He did not join BFC for the sole purpose of ripping off knife collectors. He joined BF because he was/is attracted to knives and acted like a kid in a candy-store, wanting one of each. The key word is KID.

I am pleased he is doing the right thing. It looks like he just graduated the SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS and I can only I hope he learned a valuable lesson..............Ira;)

I just wanted to use this opportunity to say thanks to Dan in public. He has in many ways made this whole thing possible, he was the one who caught me doing something stupid and made me correct it. The fact that he agreed to be a cashier in this project has also made everything a whole lot less painfull for both parties. So I think everybody involved in this need to come over here and say thanks. He has done a great job, and he has gone beyond and over in helping me and others.

So in short I would like to say: THANKS!

This is good news. Good job, Kasper.

Dan: If you would, could you let us know when you've made arrangements to distribute the funds.

Thanks Kasper! You've made us all feel good by how you've taken care of things. I'm really happy how everything worked out. I hope you stay on the forums and feel like "one of the gang". We'll trade again sometime! :)

Ron, checks will be going out today.

Dan.

i have to agree with ira on his opinion.he tryed to burn you guys and he got busted.sure he's forking over the cash to pay you all back but forgive and forget and everythings ok now-I DON'T THINK SO-burn me and trade or deal with you again-IN YOUR DREAMS

I am glad to see this all worked out in the end.

I agree with Ira as well. If you burn someone on a trade, lie cheat and steal, then make it right. You have still lied cheated and ripped people off.
Dan is just too damn nice of a guy, it speaks volums about his charater, that hes willing to trade again down the line. I wish I could say that I was cut from the same cloth.

Kyle
