Doug Ritter RSK Knife Announcement

I’m completely unfamiliar with this lock. Is it friendly to lefties like the Axis lock? Just want to know if I should get excited about this.

There are no full pictures, right?

Seems super weird to have a preorder (albeit limited to certain collectors) without showing the knife

So will they have non serialized versions after the pre orders? Not sure I can prove I'm a collector

Interesting for sure. M390 steel and the price is quite reasonable it appears. My guess is that it’s a well built knife from a fairly large manufacturer. I’ll be keeping my eye on this for sure and I hope that I’m not disappointed with the product once it’s revealed.

As far as who it’s built by, it’s easier to figure who it’s not.

Definitely not Benchmade for obvious reasons

Not Spyderco, they’d never realease a knife without that hole in the blade. Yes I know it’s a legacy thing, but is it necessary on every damn knife?

Kershaw, maybe. Price would put it as a high Kershaw more than a low ZT

Gerber, I hope not.

Buck, that could be interesting. It would not be out of line for Buck to work with Doug and the price point seems right for them.

The new class of Chinese makers? Maybe. M390 is right in their wheelhouse.

Well, I’m out of ideas. Anyone else want to take a stab at it, (no pun intended)?

I’m baffled by the secretive handling of this. I can’t see why any established manufacturer would want to push his name independently of their brand, or specifically choose to not promote it as a branded product.

Well, it could easily be a Chinese OEM. Reate, WE, and others regularly put out knives for US based designers and companies. It actually wouldn't surprise me at all if that's the case. Probably will still have the Axis lock and everything.

I'm generally not a preorder and then see what I get kind of guy. Also the fact that this is targeted at collectors makes me less interested.

I sincerely hope you're wrong.

Trademark, Kinda forces their hand. Producing a non-holey knife under the brand could reduce their claim on the trademark.

As for who's making the knife, no idea. But this leads me to believe that they are relying more on the Ritter name than the manufacturer, which could mean all kinds of things, a newer name to the game, a name that has since fallen from favor in the knife world, or a maker who doesn't feel that their name will be the selling point, (or Ritter doesn't) and that would suggest that perhaps they are focused on a different corner of the market. Could be anything.

I really hope that this new offering is at least on par with the old Benchmade knives. I’m also hoping that it’s manufactured in the USA as well, but we’ll see. I’m happy to see that it’s coming with a premium steel, I just hope the rest of the knife is of equal quality.

I’m guessing either Lionsteel, the manufacturer that produces oem Knives like the TAD Dauntless or a reputable manufacturer from China(WE, Reate).

It really shouldn’t keep anyone from purchasing this knife if it’s made in China, there seems to be fewer and fewer manufacturers in the US that have the capacity to produce third party Knives in large quantities these days. Or at least thats what it feels like to me.

Should or shouldn't? You typed "should" but it feels like it should be "shouldn't."

More pictures of the whole knife would be great.

Maybe it's just to ugly to do so.

That price screams "Chinese made" to me. Especially in that blade steel. It's just that Mr. Ritter always seemed to be a "Made in USA" kind of guy to me.
IF it's a US brand, for some reason I'm feeling this might be either a Buck or CRKT. But I am holding out hope that Millit will be making it.

It’s actually a slight bit more expensive than the Benchmade model so hopefully they are keeping manufacturing here in the US.
