Should be renamed the “Destroyer of Worlds” lock given its history. The Axial lock was patented in 1976 and is long in the public domain. It's fair game for any manufacturer.

Well, it could easily be a Chinese OEM. Reate, WE, and others regularly put out knives for US based designers and companies. It actually wouldn't surprise me at all if that's the case. Probably will still have the Axis lock and everything.
Trademark, Kinda forces their hand. Producing a non-holey knife under the brand could reduce their claim on the trademark. Not Spyderco, they’d never realease a knife without that hole in the blade. Yes I know it’s a legacy thing, but is it necessary on every damn knife?
I sincerely hope you're wrong.![]()
Should or shouldn't? You typed "should" but it feels like it should be "shouldn't."It really should keep anyone from purchasing this knife if it’s made in China, there seems to be fewer and fewer manufacturers in the US that have the capacity to produce third party Knives in large quantities these days. Or at least thats what it feels like to me.
