Fiddlebacks and Food

I am actually from the Carolinas and moved here two years ago. It doesn't take long to get used to a nice small town. The people are super nice but the winters are a bit rough.

Yes. I lived in a very small town in upper Michigan for a while. It was a predominantly Amish community with a lot of Amish farms and a few country stores own by Amish people. In three out of four seasons I absolutely adored that area. It was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. I loved living out in the country. The winter was a horse of a different color. It was the year mother nature decided to break records for cold temps, number of days below zero, and snow fall accumulation in Michigan for as far back as they have been keeping records. We had 5 straight weeks where the temps did not exceed -14F for day time highs, with no sun. And with the wind chill, the night time lows would rand from -29F to -47F. There were a few times I thought I might just die working out in those temps, and everything I did took five times as long as it would have taken me here in Tennessee, with no increase in money made. I do want a summer house up there, but I will never voluntarily live there year round again :)

Yup it's that time of year again.. I've waited all year for this. :)

My wife and I made this dinner last Friday for her dad and mom to show our appreciation for everything they do for us. Everything was cooked on the grills. Angel's Dusted chateaubriand steak, blackened scallops with grilled lemon juice, corn and asparagus.

Thats a very nice gesture TLA. Homemade meals are always better.

Your steak game is on point too:thumbup:

Preparing my gumbo with grilled chicken, smoked sausage, shrimp and crawfish. My new to me Bear Cub. Thanks schmittie. Wow this is an awesome little knife. Like a mini Kephart.

That looks dang good. And the gumbo looks delish!! You gotta sop-up that gumbo gravy with something. Now I'm hungry.

I should not have checked this thread before going to bed. Now I'm hungry.

Ditto on that! Been away from the forum too long, went looking for Fiddlebacks, and found what I wished I had for dinner. I'm inspired now to move some of mine down to the kitchen alongside the Bushraptor I use in when I'm cooking. My only concern is explaining to my wife how that got here ;)

I like the Raptor in food prep. I played around with a photo of one a while back and turned it into a guardless variant I wish Andy would make. I'd love to have one just like this for food prep in the field :)

Yeah I like that design a lot as a food prep knife. I'm primarily using an Arowana currently. Very happy with it as well for that purpose.

I like it a lot too. I like the Raptor as it is, and saw a lot of uses when I sent the rough sketch of the idea to Andy years ago, but I really like this a lot more. I sent it to him, and he said it was a neat idea, I told him I would love one or two myself, maybe he will give it a go :)

Nothing major tonight just some freshly harvested steak and fries from my uncles farm.
