fort turner is a scam

Thank you all for the help and suggestions. Dana Turner called me today. The first time we talked he seems to be a very stand up person that is concerned over his inability to delivery product. He as nice on the phone and cordial. He was very sincere in his speech. He is upset with the fact that I am complaining about his services on social media. I understand his anger over this, but honestly I had no other recourse without going to court. I hate making these official and having the law tell us how to do our business. I expected him to deliver this long before now. I am not trying to smear his name, I am telling the truth about a service that was expected. He said he would be sending me a check for my purchase amount. He no longer wants to make the product that I ordered on the grounds that he feels I do not appreciate or respect his work. That is far from the truth and I would much rather have the product. It takes a specific skill set to manufacture a traditional tomahawk. But it is his choice not to ship his product to me and refund the money. A refund will end this issue and silence me on this subject. Note though, I am not smearing his name. I am telling my store. Waiting two years for an order is long past the time most, if not all people would be willing to let this go. This could have been settled a long time ago if only proper communications would have occurred on his part. My best advice to him is to "Don't leave your customer guessing for two years about something they ordered, they may guess wrong on why they are not getting what they paid for." I wish the man the best in his business and hopes he changes his business practices. My understanding is he makes a good product, it is just a matter of overcoming some obstacles and getting them delivered with a reasonable time frame. Hopefully I will be received my refund or better yet and fine product made by Mr Turner. If I do receive product from him I would be happy to give a rating deserving of what I receive.

Yet he is still taking orders with only a 8 week wait.
That is up to him. He seemed sincere enough on the phone. We talked for maybe close to an hour total and I heard him out. He is upset. I am upset. I told him to resolve the issues he just needs to deliver items as promised. Yes it would also be a good idea to update the website too. He noted that he spent a long time building up his name and business. I was smearing this name. Not my intention. Now I understand that by me complaining I am making others aware of my issue. If no one ever complained about anything openly, what kind of place would be living in now. On the highest end of this would be companies would be polluting without bounds. Other companies would be taking savings and retirements of people without recourse. This for the most part has been stopped by someone willing to stand up and say something. I know by no means is this the same level as that. It has to start somewhere though. None of this would have ever happened had he delivered within some reasonable time frame or made attempts to communicate and rectify this issues rather than ignore them. He does not feel I understand his anger over me putting out my story. I feel he does not understand why I put out my story. So we never came to real resolution on this subject. He is unhappy with me and will never change his tone over this. I am willing to work with the man. I even told him once he got strait I would be willing to pay for some hands on classes in black smithing. He was not interesting doing classes. His business is up for sale too if someone is interested. Maybe it would be best for him to turn over his business and process to someone who can put out the product and bring it back to what it was before. I wish him the best and hopes he is able to straiten things up for himself. It does not start though until he resolves long standing issues though. I am not the only one person out there who has complained. I have seen lots more. all of this needs to be straitened up.

Well, I for one certainly appreciate your thread. Based on it alone, much less other testimonials, I would NEVER attempt to purchase ANYTHING from the individual in question. There are too many other craftsmen/craftswomen who make a quality product AND deliver in a TIMELY manner.

Two years for a resolution, no matter how it turns out, is excessive in my book. If he were hand carving the Ark of the Covenant with a nail file, it would be too long.

This, at least, seems clear. If one were sincerely concerned about one's inability to deliver in eight weeks, one would stop promising delivery in eight weeks.

To our valued customers - April 2014: Recent order volume has resulted in an unexpected production backlog. We're working as quickly as possible to fill orders, but because our products are all handcrafted right here at Fort Turner to the highest possible standards, delivery at this time is about 8 weeks out. We generally strive to provide much faster service, and will update our situation as things change. Thank you sincerely for your support and your patience.

I think this is just a case of a simple typographical error. He meant 8 years out. Silly autocorrect. [emoji12]

Sincere? He's not sincere, he's an outright liar. To darn bad if he doesn't like this posted on social media. He's the reason it's posted, but he sounds like a self centered A-H*%# saying you don't appreciate his work, what a jerk. I would have told him to eat $hit.

Dana Turner, the owner of Fort Turner, www.fortturner.com, has a very solid reputation for very poor customer service. This is a reputation that he has earned by taking people’s money, then not delivering the product. The situation with Ladams19 is just one example of the practices that seem to be business as usual for Dana Turner, the owner of Fort Turner. Two minutes with Google revealed no less than 14 different people who have had serious issues with Dana Turner not delivering orders as promised. There is nothing wrong or inappropriate with people using social media and forums to report about their terrible experiences with Dana Turner.

When you repeatedly accept orders and payment, then do not deliver, people are going to talk about it. Until you start delivering products as promised and compensate the people who want refunds, the discussion is going to continue.

That is the case, he knows he'll lose his ass in court and will now issue a refund that should have been issued years ago. Good luck to him selling the business, the reputation of it has been ruined by him for a long time now.

I wonder if a business like this would not deliver product or issue a refund if a lien can be filed on their property?

Problem is just because you win in small claims doesn't mean you'll ever see a cent of what you're owed. If you stick with it and keep filing more papers and paying fee after fee something will be done to him eventually.

Yes, this is true. That is one of the reasons I started to post my story everywhere. I knew if I put the truth in enough places, he would end up seeing it. He would see the issues one way or another. I have also been posting to his local towns Facebook page. People in his town are talking about this too. I figure I put enough pressure on him from all sides and I will eventually get either the stuff I ordered or a refund. At the very least I can educate others on the issues before ordering from him. At least they will go into their purchase understanding the gamble that they will be entering into. He told me he has shipped some orders within a reasonable time frame, other he did not. So its a flip of the coin or if your order is on the stack of the ones he feels like fulfilling. None the less I took from the last phone call from him that I at least am getting under his skin and he knows I am posting his dirty laundry out there for all to see.

Did you get your refund?
No refund yet. We are 284 miles apart. I am sure a letter with attached check could have made this far already. I am guessing he is not sending anything. Well he wanted me to remove all posts about his service before he sent anything. I refused to do so until I got either the product or the refund.

I hate to hear you haven't been refunded yet. I like that you used his towns Facebook page. Public shaming sometimes proves to be a valuable tool.

The pic below shows the #2 result from a Google search for "Fort Turner." Ladams19 is just the tip of the iceberg. Dana Turner, the owner of Fort Turner, www.fortturner.com, consistently takes peoples money, and then either does not deliver them their product when promised or not send them any product at all. The Better Business Bureau has 84 complaints since 2013. It is a sure bet that there are MANY other Fort Turner customers that had similar terrible experiences but did not report them to the BBB.

As members of BladeForums.com, we cannot help every person that has had their money stolen by Dana Turner, the owner of Fort Turner, www.fortturner.com. However, we can use this platform to warn others about this scam artist. I am going to keep posting in this thread until Ladams19 gets his money returned or the products that he ordered. I encourage others to do the same.

Dana, I know you are reading this. This issue is not going away. Send the man his money.

Sounds like it's time to take him to court.

He really needs charged criminally as he continues to take orders and money up front, but fails to deliver. A few days in jail would do him good.

I am really curious if a lien can be filed against his business until refund or product is delivered? He apparently wants to sell, that could put a wrench in the plans for any potential buyer. It would serve him right.
