Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I must take my autumn pic's before Saturday as the forecast is rain turning to snow.

Fantastic photo, Dave! What are the yellow leaves? I'd have guessed bigtooth aspen, but I didn't think that grew as far west as you are. (Of course most of my tree knowledge is based on daughter's leaf collection in school 20 years ago, so I could easily be wrong.)

Thanks Gary. :D I’ve had it for a little while. Admittedly I don’t give it the pocket time it deserves! :(
Very nice!

An impressive Barlow, GT.
Thanks Gary! LamBarJack is looking good my friend! :D
Extraordinary knife Gary.;)
...
Thank you, my friend, I see you have an HHB rosewood Barlow as well, good stuff!:thumbsup::D
...
Yes, they were tiny weren't they, it was packaged quite differently to other gum? :D Nice memory Gary :) I hope that one day, you'll have happy memories of your Hartshead Barlow my friend  ;)
Thanks for the comments about my rosewood HHB, John & Ron & José & Dave & Jack. :)
Jack, I've been using it all week and it cuts well. I've also sanded it, and today I used 0000 steel wool on the covers so the roughness of the rosewood has been smoothed out.

lol pointers from me, as Schultz used to say on Hogans Heros "I know nothing" :p
...
Yeah, but Schultz actually knew a lot about what was going in in the old Stalag! :D

Good Evening Guardians
Heading out to get some dinner and do some shopping for the house.
Looks like we will be able to leave the hotel and move back home tomorrow.
...
Belated congrats on getting back home, John!:thumbsup::thumbsup: How do you like the new floors?

...
Just a rock in our front flower bed. Makes a good background.

Thanks for the rock info, Dennis. :)
And thanks for another impressively comprehensive multi quote post!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Happy Wednesday guys and gals!!!

Carried my lamb today.
Great to see the Ironwood Eye again, Taylor!:thumbsup:

Good Morning Guardians
Mark & John, those ebony WCLFs are the epitome of tasteful elegance!:cool::cool:
(Is there elegance that's NOT tasteful?)

...
I picked up the smaller nuts yesterday while walking on a nearby street. I saw a load of what looked like pieces of turf littering the pavement outside a restaurant, and stopped to see what they were. The owner of the restaurant came out to speak to me, and told me that in the four years she had been there, it was the first time they'd seen the strange husks. I had not seen them before, and took a few photos, and a few of the nuts to identify them. I think they're Turkish Hazelnuts.
...
I was just sipping a beer last night, when I heard a massive thud upstairs, and thought something large must have fallen over. When I went to investigate, I found nothing, but discovered this 'ghost-pigeon' this morning o_O

...
Lotta nut news in your post, Jack!:) I've been eating a lot of Oregon hazelnuts the past couple of weeks, finishing a pound that my wife bought before deciding the fat content was too high. They're very good; I've been throwing a handful into almost every meal I make.
What's all this about ghost pigeons?? Seems like some kind of Halloween April Fools prank! You had me going for a minute, though. :D

Morning Guardians. Rosewood L'il Lambsfoot is back in the pocket today. Posing in a wooden bowl I received as a gift yesterday from Dan. It's beauty, and a great size for use as a valet tray on the dresser. Thanks again CelloDan CelloDan :)
...
Congrats, Mike!:thumbsup: I've seen some of CelloDan CelloDan 's wood-turning efforts in some thread, as well as the way he polished up his lovely ebony lambsfoot, so I'll bet that bowl is a prize!

We are under a winter storm watch this weekend. Our house is at 4900 feet elevation so for us it may well be sleet and snow. Dang!!!!! I better get something ready to go on the tin, wood shed, roof! I've forgotten where you're at Dave.
ED, I sure hope this Waynorth lambsfoot is not going up on the shed roof!!

...
Totin' the '18 today.

FBC, your bagels come with a toy dragster as a prize inside?? Cool!:cool::p

Today marks our 50th Wedding Anniversary.:)

Belated Golden Anniversary wishes to you and your bride, Dave!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

...
Congratulations to you and your Wife. 50 years is amazing.
It is also our anniversary today, married 33 years (we're catching you).
...
Congrats to you and your spouse, too, John!:cool::thumbsup: (My wife and I will hit 35 years next June 1.)

...
Going to carry this chunky two-blade Needham, a thoughtful gift from Duncan Campbellclanman Campbellclanman :) Hope everyone has a great weekend

I've got my two-blade A. Wright in my pocket today and will carry it through at least the weekend into next week.

Good choice Jack:thumbsup: Jack Black Jack Black .
Jack and ED, those 2-blade lambsfoot knives are intriguing!:thumbsup:

Bam-Ba-Lamb! :p
Are those pimento sausages??

... It makes me very nostalgic. My mother and I took a trip to Italy many years back, and we would buy a bag and take turns holding it to warm up our hands. (she's vegan, and it was a favorite "street food" we could both enjoy)
...
I like your chestnut stories, Rachel. I don't think I ever saw "chestnut carts" on the street until my daughter took me to Sevilla, Spain right after Christmas in 2014. (We didn't try any, though.)

...
Since Diego Garcia had seen very little shelling, when I returned to NAVSECSTA in Washington, D.C., I took a sampling of 50 various shells to the Smithsonian, Museum of Natural History and gave them to the museum. They were happy to get them and I had an interesting talk with a couple of the curators there.
Cool story, ED! :cool::thumbsup:

Congratulations guys !!!
In December it will be 24 years married for us.
We met for the first time in 1989, 30 years ago in December as well.
My family and I had just arrived as immigrants to Canada and her father ( he was the pastor of our church :) ) went to pick us us at the airport. On our way to our new home in Canada my future father in law said he had to pick up up her daughter at school first :) ..... well .... and the rest is history :)
Wow, Dan, you didn't waste any time getting to know your new neighbors! :p:thumbsup:

Heck of a knife, Dennis!:thumbsup:

Well, if Jack Black Jack Black can show a group of his knives being oiled, I can show my flock getting some sun at the beach this past Tuesday.

KAdF8Gp.jpg
Very impressive flocks, ED and Rob!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

This scrumptious 8%er is slipping down a little too easily  A good job I only have one bottle :D

The beer looks great, Jack, but that opener would give me nightmares, I fear!:eek:

:D True GT ! I could not help it, got bitten by the love bug !
Now ... try to date the pastor's daughter with the whole congregation scrutinizing your every move at every turn ;)
Not for the faint of heart ! :D

Belated congrats on getting back home, John!:thumbsup::thumbsup: How do you like the new floors?
The floors are super nice.
Can't wait for the rest of the work to be done now.

Congrats to you and your spouse, too, John!:cool::thumbsup: (My wife and I will hit 35 years next June 1.)
Thank you, GT. :)
I might actually have to go out and do something nice when we hit 35. :D

You are spoiling us with these fantastic photos Dan! :)

I have just been oiling some of my older Lambsfoot knives, but am currently have a coffee-break (not had this coffee before) :)

One of the knives in the group shot above is this Lambsfoot by James Howarth, which was gifted to me by knife maker Paul Mason, who had it as a boy. The background of the photo is a line drawing of Howarth's old works on Bath Street, Sheffield, the street my grandparents lived on

Wow I’m loving these older ones popping up!

I was planning to go to an antiques fair in Harrogate tomorrow, but I've just realised it's actually NEXT weekend  So we're off to York instead. Going to carry this chunky two-blade Needham, a thoughtful gift from Duncan Campbellclanman Campbellclanman :) Hope everyone has a great weekend

I'm pleased you can get some use from it my friend, how is the action? It might be worth polishing and/or oiling the wood after sanding :) I have a trip over to Sheffield on Friday

Not the first time I've gone nuts Gary! :D I eat a lot of them, but I usually have to buy them from the store. The ghost-pigeon is still there despite the rain we've had over the past couple of days. It's a window I can't get to, and window-cleaners are a nearly extinct species here. Hopefully it'll eventually fade and die! o_O ;)

LOL! :D It is one of several bottle-openers I have been gifted by friends here, I like it, and it always gives me a chuckle :D Nice pic there, and I'm looking forward to seeing which Lambsfoot comes next :)

Nice pic Vince :)

“A Walk in Nature” # 50 * :)
I have a few more pics to share in this series.
For today's # 50 I wanted to celebrate by sharing this photo. This bird was quite shy and it took a while to get this shot. No hand feeding this one :).
Anyone knows the name of this bird ?

Good morning, Jack. That's a fine old knife, and the background is interesting, as well. I think we have a different naming system for files over here. (or it's possible I've been calling things by the wrong names)
