Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

So I removed the coating of ren wax I had on my sheffield and am going to have it as my daily user every day until it starts to patina. I don’t want to do any type of forced patina. Just planning on using it, wiping fingerprints off it, etc. No idea how to let a patina form naturally or how long it will take or what things to use it on that might lend themselves to a good patina.

I searched the forums and other than forcing a patina I haven’t yet found anything on just letting it happen. I assume it’s as simple as just use it, wipe it down so it doesn’t rust and avoid putting oil or wax on the blade that would otherwise prevent a patina at all. Please let me know if it is that simple.

Yes, it's that simple.
Cutting dry materials will take longer, but foods will get the patina going faster... steak and apples are good patina starters.

And " oil the joint " occasionally.
🤗
Remember pocket lint will not patina.😁

Just having a coffee :) I usually keep a couple of Clif bars in my hiking pack, about the nearest thing I get to rock-climbing these days  :D

Love those things Jack. They really fill me up. HHB is looking good as usual. 😎👍

Miserable day here.

Spectacular! :)
I didn't say I'd eat them.
Had I been in The Three Amigos, Dusty Bottoms would have been welcome to my entire share of bat parts.

Oh, fair enough then, I'll send Pamela Anderson round! 🤣 ;) Great to see your Ebony '18 mate :)
Lovely pic Jack !
Thanks Steve :)
Some of it has hot pepper flakes added just for this who are adventuresome.🥵
Mmmmmm :)
Thanks Jack. Yes sausage sandwiches and many other things as well.:p
Delicious Bill :) I used to regularly make a dish called Sausage Morengo (a variation on Chicken Morengo, which I also used to make). It's like a sausage stew, with garlic onions, tomatoes, sweetcorn, sherry, brandy, and sausages of course. I think the best sausages I bought from a butcher were in France, they cost me more than steak, but they were delicious :) Enjoy your sausages Bill
Oh yes! :) If I remember, and despite your superb leatherwork, you don't use a slip do you?
Nice to see you spoiling yourself with a double Lamb day.
Thanks pal :)
Good morning Guardians. Some really amazing LF knives in previous posts. Today is having a sunny start after a days worth of rain and I'm hoping that much of the tree pollen has been washed away. My allergies are annoying. Going to be carrying my Senator today.

Hope you'll be OK Bill, nice pic there :)

Good for you Gus, gotta use a Lambsfoot  That's all it takes, just carry it regularly, and use it. Give the blade a wipe if it gets wet. Mine get a drop of oil in the joint every month or so, if I'm carrying them regularly. I strop them when needed, and sharpen them every few weeks. Apart from that, they don't get any other maintenance

I think I might have dropped one or two quotes, sorry about that :(

Thank you Jack. I'm glad he keeps the original design in mind.
Hello Guardians! Gets really busy in the Spring at school…gets me thinking of other stuff. 😉👍View attachment 2112114
I hope a few are left in the stream for you Todd.

Thanks buddy, me too, I always stock up on them when they're on offer :D ;) :)

That's a cool pic my friend, hope you can wet a line soon :)
Thanks Jack. It was warming up a bit last week but the next two weeks look a bit chilly. Guess I’ll just keep dreaming for a few more weeks. 😄
Oh Ya! Bring on the fishing season!
Thanks for posting that, Todd... Now I'm thinking about fishing rather than working. 🤠
Glad to help ya John. I’m channeling my inner Dr. Phil! 🤣

Bearing in mind I waited in 2 days for it, and the price (over £70 plus shipping), I wasn't very happy by the state of my Tilley Hat when it arrived. It had just been thrown into a plastic bag, and probably been sat under a pile of parcels. I know it's a casual hat, but I don't want to look like Wurzel Gummidge, and while I don't mind owning a hat, which after a few years, looks like it's been trampled by an elephant, I want to see both the elephant and the trampling! 🤨

0_worzel-1.jpg

It's also at least a size smaller than my other Tilley, which is supposedly of the same size, and I fear that it will shrink still further when washed. Looking online, a lot of people have the same complaints, doesn't sound like the firm is what it was :( They've even taken the screens out of the vent holes, and you don't get the little booklet anymore, even the guarantee has changed  I'm not sure I'm going to bother with another :(

I decided to have a walk down to Charlie's, and get a coffee, and something to eat. The coffee and pastries at Charlie's are exceptionally good, but I don't consider the food there the best, I'm afraid. The sandwiches are OK, but their menu could be better. To be fair, it's probably led by what people want to eat. I had a vegetarian breakfast, without eggs, as I'm not a fan. It was OK, but not great. I don't like the turkey sausages they use for some reason, and the vegetarian sausages are the type that even vegetarians don't like, the healthy kind! With vegetables! :D They may look a little like sausages, but they taste absolutely nothing like them. I could have got better food in town, but I didn't want to go that far, and I did enjoy spending an hour in Charlie's :)

Cut a warm steak or pork chop up. Insta patina. Like John says an apple a day will do it too.

Good morning Guardians, 9.00am here, and you guys have got me thinking of cocktails! :D Strawberry jam on toasted wholemeal sourdough for breakfast :) There's still some snow here, but I don't think we've had anymore overnight, and since the road is completely clear, hopefully the Royal Mail can make it to my door! After that, I might, possibly, have a walk down to Charlie's, or find something else to do. I hope everyone has a great weekend :)

All this talk of Charlie's Lambsfoot had me hankering to carry one, so I'm having a Double Lambsfoot Day! 🎉😁

Testing season? Fishing season is just around the corner. Ebony lamb looks ready for action.
Fair enough :) One of the things I like about mine is the way it keeps the knife vertical in my dedicated knife pocket :)

You are taking to the vegetarian diet well. I was grocery shopping the other day and was amazed at the vegan options for everything. Never noticed before but never looked either.

Woke up a little late today. Overindulged at the VFW last night. Nothing crazy but just enough to make you sleep like a baby. Driving into a bigger town today to go snoop around at Scheels (large sporting goods store.) I am determined to start fly fishing this year and want to see what kind of stuff they have. Going to grab a bite to eat there but not sure what I'm craving yet. Got the stag dam lamb today. Have a great day Guardians.
