Yeah, if you want a fast patina, meat and fruit work well (strawberries are pretty good). My Hartshead Barlow hasn't really cut much of either, but got that steadilyCut a warm steak or pork chop up. Insta patina. Like John says an apple a day will do it too.
Thanks Paul, a fairly steady dayHope your day is going great Jack. Hard to top those two lambs. Hope your day is filled with adventure!
Glad you're a fan my friend, I must have 20 pairs, I never wear anything else5.11 pants are the best !!
I'm amazed! You are taking to the vegetarian diet well. I was grocery shopping the other day and was amazed at the vegan options for everything. Never noticed before but never looked either.
That sounds like a great day, I wish I could come with you!Woke up a little late today. Overindulged at the VFW last night. Nothing crazy but just enough to make you sleep like a baby. Driving into a bigger town today to go snoop around at Scheels (large sporting goods store.) I am determined to start fly fishing this year and want to see what kind of stuff they have. Going to grab a bite to eat there but not sure what I'm craving yet. Got the stag dam lamb today. Have a great day Guardians.

I noticed the mention in the Tilley talk. Disappointed in your experience, and I agree with you on the direction they're headed. Hopefully I have enough of them to last me, so I can fondly remember the good timesHey Mike, speak of the devil! How're you doing buddy?
Cool pic there
I have a couple of Smith's watches, including my grandfather's solid gold 25-year watch

I'm doing well, and realize I've been absent a while! Have been missing the Guardians thread, so figured I'd remedy that
Your grandfather's watch is gorgeous! Does it still run? Shame they're no longer made in the UK, but at least they still ship from there.
The average person has no idea how hard it is to give up carbs, and i'm talking processed carbs, not whole carbs. We have become addicted to them, and the food industry knows it.nowhere near as hard as giving up carbs,
By coincidence, I was looking at the Wiki page yesterday Barrett, seemed appropriateSo US posties aren't required to take a daily oath?!

Oh, I've seen it before Barrett. I did start writing an analysis of my feelings towards Ricky Gervais and his career, but while I thought The Office was masterfully scripted, and Extras had its moments, in truth, given a choice between watching them again, and kicking him down the street like a football, I reckon I'd get more amusement from the latter!![]()

Nope. I don't care for the extra thickness it adds to the pocket, and the extra steps it takes to use the knife and put it away.
Very nice pair Bob!Miserable day here.
Jack said it was a double lambfoot day ,so...

As others have mentioned, food makes for a quick non-forced patina. So I removed the coating of ren wax I had on my sheffield and am going to have it as my daily user every day until it starts to patina. I don’t want to do any type of forced patina. Just planning on using it, wiping fingerprints off it, etc. No idea how to let a patina form naturally or how long it will take or what things to use it on that might lend themselves to a good patina.
I searched the forums and other than forcing a patina I haven’t yet found anything on just letting it happen. I assume it’s as simple as just use it, wipe it down so it doesn’t rust and avoid putting oil or wax on the blade that would otherwise prevent a patina at all. Please let me know if it is that simple.
Thanks kindly Pete. Hope your weekend is going well.Very nice pair Bob!

Now that's how you get a good patina! The limes do a good job on the knife blade, too.Cocktail time!![]()

Oh yeah, I think you might be right Barrett
Terrible mate, I was talking to mine earlier, she's too young to remember that there was a time when posties here worked 5 days a week, and were finished by late morningA couple years ago, I had ordered something on that big website a few days before Easter, fully expecting to get it the following week. We were outside on Easter morning, the girls having just finished hunting Easter eggs, when the mailman pulled up to deliver the package. I couldn’t believe they had them delivering mail/packages on Easter Sunday! I felt awful and apologized profusely (not that it was really my doing, but still). It’s like retail workers having to go in on Thanksgiving Day, just so idiots can save $100 on a new TV.![]()
My memory is TERRIBLE Barrett, but it isn't THAT terrible!I just realized (after confirming with a quick search) that I’ve posted that clip before, in this thread, when you mentioned a postman handing you a card that said you weren’t in. I even made the same comment, almost word for word, about it being surprisingly Porch-friendly. And my memory’s usually pretty good, too!![]()
I agree about The Office, and I really liked Extras, too. Everything else he’s done has been hit or miss for me, certainly nothing to live up to those early successes, but as a person? Well, there’s a certain four-letter insult he’s quite fond of using (very much not Porch-friendly) that I think is quite applicable.![]()
That's a good photo buddySnowy and wet today. I’ve got this rosewood Lambsfoot with me.

I use GT's safety pin trick to keep my knife vertical in my pocket... works the charm and it's super easy to pull the knife out of the pocket and slip it back in.I like about mine is the way it keeps the knife vertical in my dedicated knife pocket
Right? But I knew saddle makers that didn't ride horses, so...Only slightly ironic, given your hobby of making them
Ethan is aging nicely David....enjoy.Afternoon Guardians! Ethan is the Lamb of the day. It's been cloudy, cool and drizzling most the day. Trying to clear off now. I'm off work for the next two days so all is well.
