Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I think you'll like it John ;)

Hope so :)

Thanks Christian, I'm still pretty rough, but better than yesterday definitely

I'm glad that you got a nice one my friend. Those knives are Wright's bread and butter, and at their price point, they can't afford to spend a huge amount of time on fit and finish (most of their customers care more about the price), but I still think that the standard Rosewood model (3 1/2" is the standard, or medium, size) can be a very nice knife, a great user, and fantastic value for money. Wright's use a slightly more rounded tip on a few of their knives, but that looks like their standard Lambsfoot pattern. The pins are lengths of brass, which are snipped off, hand-peened, and then ground with the covers, which is how they traditionally make knives in Sheffield. With stag, because of the uneven surface, they just hammer the pins, or smooth them off in the same way where that is possible. The action should improve still further with age (I'm sure you've already flushed out the joints) :) Really glad you like the knife Christian, and I dare say that after you've carried and used it a while, you like it even more. To use a Lambsfoot is to love it. Welcome to The Guardians my friend ;)

Very cool picture of knives in mid-state.
And glad to see our coach back on his feet!!! :)

It was a mixed bag. Both knives were made well enough. But while the lambsfoot was a nice surprise, the tackler was considerably less so. I was expecting a wharncliffe, but the blade is sheepsfoot.

There's a new kid in the neighborhood. Meet Rosa. A girl-next-door type, she keeps things simple with plain rosewood covers. Still, she's undeniably pretty. And look at her curves!

That's a good looking knife  My horn covered lambsfoot is a swayback and it's about perfect, but it's nice to see it in the rosewood. Sorry to hear about the tackler though; I guess one out two ain't bad...

For the Day after New Year's Day:

[A New Zealand thing, I think.]

The Scot's have the 2nd January as a holiday as well, because apparently no one ever turned in for work :D

Beautiful horn and a nice Spas 12. Rather a heavy gun, but lots of fun to shoot! I traded mine for a Colt competition Hbar- Ar15 back in the mid 90's.

Nice pic of your Lambsfoot with an 80's icon David :) Sadly, changes to the UK firearms laws rather killed 'Practical Shotgun' :(

Thank's chaps  It's actually my brothers gun and he's not fired it in years. He's just though found out how much it's worth (>£1500) so has been servicing it over the past few weeks to get it ready for sale. Apparently SPAS 12's are as rare as hen's teeth and acquiring a new recoil buffer for it has had him tearing out what little hair he has left. :D
I've got to say though Mark, you must be a leviathan to enjoy shooting one of those! I've not much experience with pump guns but it's a right pig and totally undeserving of it's Hollywood inspired reputation. :D My brother has plenty more experience with pump guns and much preferred his Mossberg 500.
Your right Jack, as per Section 2 that thing is limited to 2+1. However I was surprised to learn that you can apparently still own full-capacity pump guns on a Section 1.
Hope your much recovered. Doesn't sound nice at all. :(

My Wee Staggie, shown with my lucky penny, which was 60 years old when I came into possession of it 50 years ago.
Happy New Year, Guardians!
Really cool lucky penny and stag lambsfoot pic, Vince!:cool::thumbsup:
I should insert a belated wish here that all the Guardians experience a superb 2019! :):thumbsup:

5K Qs 5K Qs yep, lots of noticeable topography on my AC lambsfoot. If the ironwood is as full of character I’m going to have to save up for one!
I'm with you on that, Joshua!:thumbsup::cool:

GT your Black Jack is looking dapper and ready for a New Year. :D
Thanks, Dave. :)

Happy New Year Guardians. See you in 2019.View attachment 1046560
That's a professional-grade glamor shot, Dwight!!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Boy, the Lambsfoots swept the Knife of the Year thread. (not that it's a competition, but if it were, the Guardians won) :p

Happy new year!
HlgAOrF.jpg
Your stag has such pleasing colors, Rachel!:thumbsup::cool:
When you see the uniform quality in virtually every AC lambsfoot in Jack's group photos, it's not surprising that so many people were VERY favorably impressed with their particular AC. I wondered if the KotY thread might include 28 (or whatever the total number of ACs was) stag lambsfoot nominations!
And here's one right now! :D

Knife of the Year for the end of 2018.

Happy New Year!!

It's only just occurred to me that they might be a different bird entirely. Also just occurred to me I should ask our local nature center or bird sanctuary. Duh.

Thanks for info about the history of your "odd" cardinal sightings. Great photo of your knife!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

A great start to the year.

Clever photo, Christian! :thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

Haha GT nope it's a ball of dough, that was left over from the mince pies you see. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I was thinking I may use it for my eyeball pie I'm thinking of baking.... :D:D
Black Jack is looking mighty fine there. I think that close up of the backspring F&F on your Black Jack, and the picture of Jack Black's 2019 prototype has just persuaded me to go for the 2019 lambsfoot.

Mmm! Eyeball pie! :D Thanks for the positive reaction to Black Jack. :)
I see the Eye of Sauron is starting to hang out with more nefarious characters than has previously been the case!!:(:rolleyes:

Apologies for my absence folks. One of my Christmas guests left me with a rather nasty norovirus :( Happy New Year Guardians :
Sorry to hear about another norovirus infection, Jack. :( This one sounded quite powerful (and avoidable if people acted more wisely ).

Well then, take that person off your next years guest list.:rolleyes:;)

Dave, that's my motto!:thumbsup: (Actually, I have a whole series of "just say no" mottos: Just say no to norovirus, drugs, fashion, fixed blades, extended warranties, ... :D) The problem is I'm not always very good about practicing what I preach! :(

GT, that slip looks better and better the more wear it gets!
...
Thanks, Mark. :) Whatever model is my current Lambsfoot of the Week rides in that fantastic slip that @Pàdruig made!:cool::cool:

Rosa rocks! And you're not kidding about that backside sway she has - Hubba Hubba!! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FELLOW GUARDIANS!!!!

I carried the 2018 Lambsfoot into the new year.

Jack Black Jack Black Whiskey is the cure, my Grandmother always said.
Hope your feelin' better real soon.
Another of you impressive sunrise/sunset pics, FBC!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

What I'm seeing has a nice red cap of small feathers. Maybe R8shell is right about the summer tanagers.
...
...I think @r8shell nailed it. The southern tanager is "our only crestless bird that is all red". ...
Snatching insects out of the air reminds me of the speed and accuracy possible with a lambsfoot blade.
...
The summer tanagers look right for what you've described, Jer, but the "range maps" I see don't include Michigan at any time, especially not in winter when South America seems normal. Another climate change indicator??

A fine Lambsfoot my friend :)

Morning folks, I'm still only half-way recovered, but certainly better than I have been. I've missed you all, and also feel like I've been derelicting my duties, got a lot of PMs and emails to catch up with, and Russell's giveaway prize to get off, plus an important email to send out of course ;) I'll try to get as much as I can done today. Hope 2019 is treating everyone wll
Given the time difference, my chiming in here is too late, but I hope you didn't overdo it, Jack!;) Sometimes, we try too much too soon after some affliction!

Good day, Guardians! This beauty, which is my first lambsfoot, arrived just in time to ring in the New Year on December 31, and I began 2019 with it tucked away in my pocket. Here it is on New Year's Day, after cutting some turkey!

Congrats and welcome, @DCMcElroy ! :):thumbsup::cool: That's a fine photo of a splendid knife! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yes, kind of took away the point! The Franchi PA8 was also very popular here too. Nice topical pic my friend

Oh, Jack, I'm sorry you went through that. You have my sympathies and empathies ;) Here's to relief from all manners of GI distress, viral or otherwise.

Thank you very much :) Certainly not a good start to 2019

 Glad you're up and running Jack!

Don't say no to fixed blades, Gary. You gotta get a Bowie! Or a USMC Ka-Bar, or a Buck 119. Or even a puukko. They can co-exist with your folders. Maybe not for EDC, unless you're Tarzan or Crocodile Dundee, I suppose. ;)
Good for hunting or camping, though.

@r8shell did say summer tanager, didn't she? My Guide to American Wildlife has western, scarlet, and southern tanagers, the southern ones ranging from upper Michigan to somewhere in South America.
Maybe that one tanager delayed his migration because of the warm weather we'd been having.
Migrating across the Gulf of Mexico reminds me that the lambsfoot is the blade of choice for ancient mariners everywhere.

Black Jack is good to start the year with. You've got a nice collection of lambsfoots. Are they the only knives you've named? It would be tough to name all of your canoes. ;)
