Having my first Busse made! ...need a sheath and sharpening info.

Lots of patient and knowledgeable people here Gary :)

Glad to see you have become one yourself!

Just figured I'd update everyone who helped me out.

I went with the standard edge, choil, black finish, and black canvas. BTW, anyone have a pic of that combination on the CGBJ?

I still need to find a sheath for it. I want something versatile/adaptable in black. I'll most likely Tek-Lok it.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds great!

I always went Mashed Cat for kydex but Dave Brown is highly praised also.

Black leather I would say ChuddyBear but there are others like Leatherman and a few that do amazing work.

Here's one from forum member jazub... hope he doesn't mind. If you do, just say the magic word!

A versatile, adaptable, Tek-Lok-compatible black sheath... I'd go with a pancake style Kydex. Check out ESEE's MOLLE backs and pouches, too. Throw them on, take them off, have a beer, etc.

Other suggestions, I would say the Spec Ops short Combat Master with a Kydex liner created by one of the Kydex benders here with holes spaced for a Tek-Lok. Remove the liner, Tek-Lok it, take it off, put the liner back in, have a pouch, eat a sandwich, etc. also

Beautiful blade!! I can't wait to get it in my hand!

As far as sheaths go, I'm not a big fan of cordura...moreso for the belt loop and snap than the sheath itself. At the same time this blade MIGHT make it to my plate carrier instead of a CS OSS so a MOLLE attachment would be nice.

I guess for my picky nature the sheath that gives me the most amount of carry options...wins. I'll be sure to take a look at those suggested if I can find pics.

Thanks

Heres an OLD pic of my ASHLE in a Mashed Cat. I used to hike with it all the time. Haven't hiked much in a while. More mountain biking, but it never let me down.

I would test your knife in your sheath though.

Don't think anybody does a retaining strap/snap on kydex, out side of the open spine style. David Brown has a signature hole in the sheath that lines up with the talon hole, you can put something through that for retention.

Sheaths by okuden have great retention, upside down is no problem. mashed cat sheaths look a lot like okuden's, Eric may have got some pointers from Brian.

Somthing new that I plan on adding to the site soon. This is one that has been sent to a customer. His feedback will determine some of the design features. It will replace the adjustable drop loop.

I don't understand the buckle. Is that a thigh setup?

Can we see the front?

Thanks

Yes this is a sutup to ride on the thigh. The buckle on the drop loop is for quick attach and detach, the same with thigh strap.

Well I got the mashed cat sheath. Seems VERY well made!

Only one problem. I'm going back to debating the blade coating/finish. I already have a black Regulator. I'm attracted to the silvery/grays (i.e. DC and gray) and I've been since I ordered.

Help me out here...

Double cut dude! Its awesome. No glare, and if you wanted to make it satin its not much work.

Here is a pretty accurate photo of Busse Satin Finish

Double cut holds up well. My only concern would be how it will hold up with kydex. I keep my DC's in Leather.

Oh, and congrats on the sheath. I am always impressed by the workmanship with Mashed Cat.

Is there an extra charge for double cut? If so any idea on a ballpark figure for the CGBJ?

I'm really only buying this to check out the INFI. Still I do like the double cut finish slightly better than the black.

Thanks

Double cut is usually a bit more expensive, as the knife must first be finished to a satin before the bead blasting.
