Help CapeCod508 scammed me

The names that Karda posted...are all over the Trade Forum ads. Some of them are even trying to trade with each other. Wouldn't that be great fun?

Question, why don't the Mods trace the IP of CapeCod and compare it to the other accounts we think he uses? I don't understand why we don't IP ban in the first place.

Sad thing is there's just gonna be more of them. I agree with whoever said we should make a waiting period for new members or something of the like. Was there a suggestion thread made?

I agree with whomever recommended that a GOLD membership shall be required for all transactions! Including trades! If someone doesn't wanna fork over 20 bucks or whatever it is I dont see them taking the forum seriously! Its $29.99 actually I think. I mean come on if you can't come up with that how are you buying and trading knives that are worth well over a hundred bucks?! I would like to see this change! :)

I have sold and traded several knives and guns on several forums, and will only do business with those who provide a real e-mail address...by that I mean, xxxx@cox.com, or xxx.verizon.com, or any e-mail account that is a paid subscription account. I will not ever do business with someone who only provides a free e-mail account, such as gmail, or aol, or whatever is out there that's free. Second, I insist on a phone call from the buyer or seller to my home and/or cell phone, so that I can establish a verbal dialogue to answer any questions. Third, I insist on verifiable addresses which I can Google Earth and make sure the address is not an abandoned crack house somewhere in the South Bronx. Lastly, I verify age, and in the case of handguns, all sales are from my FFL dealer to their FFL dealer. Oh, and the only acceptable form of currency is a USPS Postal Money Order.

With all due respect, you seem conflicted. As you are a "registered user" here and not a paying member, how do you justify not dealing with people with gmail and aol addresses? Arent' they "registered users"?

They are at least invested in email as much as you are invested here, correct? Just asking

^ true. As stated above...Alnamvet68, you wouldn't trade with yourself by your terms.

Any scammer can get a free e-mail account that would be next to impossible to trace back to him or her should they be scamming. That said, the fact that I am not a paid member is not the issue...well, it's your issue, and has no bearing on my conditions for doing business on the web with strangers, who more often then not, are out of state. If you have an issue with me expressing my observations and rules that I subscribe to when it comes to internet sales, then I suggest you complain to and demand from the MOD's that I be banned for not being a "PAID" member, and as such, I am not "invested here"; and for the other bandwagon poster who just carried your water, the same applies to you.

Alnamvet68,

I have no problem if you are a registered user sir. It is amusing though that if we used your rules nobody here would deal with you;-)... After all as you said : "Any scammer can get a registered user account that would be next to impossible to trace back to him or her should they be scamming."

Best luck

I buy and sell here because its easy and convenient. Your terms are neither, and I suspect many reputable members here would pass on them.

+1 maybe you should start a thread asking who supports it and who doesn't , and if you get enough people maybe that change can be made. I will not deal with anyone with little to no posts, or feedback either, I have had people say but but I'm so in so on fleabay and have 100,000,000 positive transactions there, when I post a trade thread it says members with low feedback on this forum will be asked to ship first, I only care about feedback on this forum as this is where the transaction is taking place, no exceptions, If someone doesn't want to abide by my requests then move right along, I had to ship items first for a while when I first started trading. Also when I am thinking of trading or buying from a member I'll give my cell number, and tell them to text me instead of emails, that way I can talk to the person, and its another way I can get a hold of you If you scam me, or I can post your cell number all over the internet and tell everyone your a thief ,lol. Fact of the matter is when you do any buying or selling online there is always a risk.

Alnamvet68 is not being unreasonable. Having a paid account here is not the same as having a paid internet account. That paid internet account ties you to an address known to your iSP.

I just wanted to add that I have an aol account and pay almost $20 a month for it. Also, you can click on my user name on aol and it will show I've had the account or been a member since 2002.

Point being that simply having an aol account isn't necessarily an indicator of a fly by night or free account.

Has the scammer told anyone else he'd give them their stuff back. He's changing the story, originally he said he traded off everything already
