Bad How I got $700 stolen from me (CaptainFuzzy / TacticalEdge8541)

Once we know if people will be made whole, and if they won't, would anyone be down with setting up a gofundme.com account to see if we could drum up donations to help people recoup their losses?
I'm thinking the knife community in general (from these different sites) and here on BF might be able to chip in and lessen the pain a bit.

Just an idea.

A No from me and it's not because I don't feel bad for the ones taken by these fools because I do. And I'm going to tell you why I said no 1) it's up to the buyer and seller to do their research on the other party. 2) This seller here has a account that's only 3 months old and with just the forums simple search engine pops up huge red flags on their account. 3) I have helped and gave plenty to people on this forum and other forums and would do it agian. but people need to help themselves and simple as looking at facts about the seller on their profile and name search pulls up enough they should have known better. It sucks this happened and I think they should all get together and contact local law in the sellers area and handle it that way. But to inquire about a go fund me page seems a bit over the top. Hope all affected follow the judicial system and go after these two.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I just can't imagine losing thousands or even hundreds of dollars. I'm sure there was some blind hope based on the forum rather than the seller but I guess I feel like it would be the community chipping in to try and make it right.
I respect and understand your opinion but I guess we may not 100% agree on this one.

I agree with gonebad395 and this guy got me for $350 I should have taken more time to check this guy out I just got in a hurry and looked at his feedback and a couple guys I respect gave him positive feedback so I pulled the trigger. Nobody's fault but my own. Just my two cents.

I believe gonebad395 hit the nail squarely on the head.

I would only add that trades are inherently dangerous propositions, and that getting burned when you don't pay attention to details / risk is a good life lesson for those willing to learn.

Wait.. So now three/four different members were all supposed to get this xm-24? This sounds especially fishy now. If you all sent in your knives to the same person and she/he hasn't responded to either of you, I'd say for damn near certainty you got had. That's not normal.
It sounds like this person does a few good trades to build up support then sticks it in others. This sucks...

If I've learned anything, don't give up until you're made right. You can't let these scammers win. If you paid cash on PayPal, call them and they can help you out. If the person that picks up the phone on their end doesn't care, ask for someone higher up and keep going until you find someone useful.

Also if you paid with card, a seller isn't covered against charge-backs under PayPal's terms of service. If you file one, cash is directly taken from their account. Found out about that little trick thanks to all the calls I had to make in the last couple weeks.

I've got beef with Falldorf as well. That piece of trash tried scamming me when I was still pretty new to the site. I was part of the whole recon thing a while back. Hope this helps you guys. Best of luck.

This is a great idea.
Some of us have offered something like this in the past and the victims, at that time, refused the help, but were extremely grateful for the gesture.
The transaction I’m speaking of was a well respected long time member went off the rails. Got a few people stuck for quite a bit of Knives and cash.

I would like to see what the LEOs can do before jumping in financially. That said, if they aren't able to recover losses, a group pool sounds like a kind idea. I'm sure I could dig up a dusty blade for auction. Hopefully we'll get some feedback in the near future about what the Sheriff was able to do.

Maybe ask bf/ @Spark if we could print and sell some fundraising t-shirts for the vics with a bf logo on front, the con artist's mugshot inside a crossed out circle on the back. some clever text like "fool me once, forum members will come for you"... :p

If a mod is willing to oversee it, they could easily verify claims and ensure equitable distribution of proceeds.

While I think this is admirable, I do have to ask-are we going to make everyone that is ripped off by a member whole or just this group. If not all why not?
If I remember right such an action needs to go through Spark, and I believe it was once suggested if you want to donate something -just do it directly- but my memory can fail at times:)

....

We have all been ripped off by this con. Some have lost knives or money, while the rest of us have suffered an impaired use of our favorite trade forums.

If anyone wants to group fund anything, I would suggest that we wait until the criminal case has been filled and prosecuted, the facts established and the culprit(s) has be convicted. At that point it would be worth funding a civil litigation to go after every cent this guy has or will ever have. To force him to pay for the direct damages, to recover the legal costs, and to establish a fund for these forums that can be used to help go after any other predators that might think the pickings are good on this site.

It is not about charity, but about taking all necessary legal steps to ensure these criminals suffer the maximum amount of pain for making the mistake of attacking us.

I like this idea I’d rather have the guy that stole from us pay to replace everything I don’t want to be a charity case. I honestly could care less about the stuff I lost as long as captainass goes to prison.

I've been scammed too...!

I made a deal to purchase a Schatt & Morgan from CaptainFuzzy over a week ago. A few days after sending payment I asked for shipping information... no response. I have now messaged and emailed (both emails that CaptainFuzzy gave me) - nothing. I can provide anyone that needs it emails and the Paypal receipt. I'm pretty new in the forum and mine was only for $100 cash - but it has me FUMING MAD!

Here is the knife I paid for: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...-buffalo-horn-with-buffalo-hide-slip.1527683/

I am not able to leave negative feedback because I negotiated the deal directly with him/her using a message. I never posted on the sale thread. MODERATORS - this is preventing me from leaving negative feedback for CaptainFuzzy. I waited several days before even trying to leave negative feedback thinking maybe this member fell ill or was in an accident. Tonight after another email I decided to go ahead and try. As listed above - I am unable to leave negative feedback but I happened upon this thread.

I want to see this dirtbag go down.

I’m pinching pennies pending an upcoming employment change, but I’d pitch in some lunch money or a knife to crowd fund a private investigator (if necessary) or a civil suit.

I’m pissed-off at these types of predators. Hopefully the LEO’s will take this seriously.

Sorry to hear.

Don't worry about the feedback- the scumbag has been banned. Read the rest of the thread and contact the law enforcement agency mentioned. Sounds like they have the time and interest to follow up with the thief.
