Huge Shipping Issue (What To Do)?

I've never heard of a DC tagged package being scanned delivered unless the package leaves the post offices care, into the addressee's hands or their mailbox.

It happens all the time. I often get a package the next day that shows delivered the previous day.

Oh, I do think that it was his responsibility to get the knife to you. He didn't get the knife to you...... at least not yet.

I had a package that got "delivered " on Tuesday according to the carriers website, but showed up on Wednesday in the mailbox. Hopefully that is what will happen to you.

This happens frequently enough that I've gotten use to it. This thread is likely for naught.

I offered to Paypal the other party $400.00 if the knife does not show up tomorrow. If he refuses that then I will do no more. That is more than the value of a slightly used Large Sebenza 21.

This seems to me to be the right thing to do. Check with the post office first and see if they can find the thing in the next day or two. Hopefully, like several people have said, it was marked delivered prematurely and will turn up soon. Until this gets resolved, I have to say that I would be very unlikely to deal with Knifehunt. I probably would not hesitate to deal with the sender, but I would insist upon insurance. Agreeing to pay the full value is a big step in the right direction for KH. Hopefully his reputation will emerge from this episode intact.

I can read and I do understand he is scamming another member.

You understand he is scamming?

Scamming is technically obtaining money or goods through dishonest means (i just googled it to make sure). Knifehunt has said the knife was missing through the mail so he did not gain anything, so he is not scamming. Im a bit confused as to how you have so much more information and can say for certain that Knifehunt has the knife?

"Ya I'll trade, send your knife"

Once you knew he was sending you backed out.

Insured or not you screwed him over. Enjoy all you have coming THIEF!

Once again you are insulting someone with no evidence whether its true or not. People have problems through trades, why do you insist on kicking somone when they are having trouble? You wont even consider that knifehunt actually does not have the knife? It would cost you nothing to stay out of this issue when it isnt your business. He asked for opinions on what he should do not for opinions on his moral character.

Thanks for the support, MEJ.

I came here for answers and help, not to be persecuted. Some of you are rude and ignorant. I have resolved this with the other party, and they will be along latter to let you know.

At first I thought knifehunt was wrong but after reading:
Rule #3 If you choose not to use insurance to save money, any repercussions will fall on you (Shipper). Insurance is there to protect you, use it.
I have since changed my mind.

The only thing I consider him guilty of is backing out of an agreed deal. Nothing more.

This is definitely applicable here, and I do believe the point has been overlooked that if it was insured properly for the correct amount/value and it was mentioned (wasn't it?) that it was a large Sebenza so over $200, that it wouldn't have been simply left in the mailbox and marked off as delivered by the postman. It would have actually had to have been physically handed to someone and signed for, not simply left. We all agree that insurance stops coverage once it leaves the mail carriers hands, however this shouldn't have been an issue had it been insured for the proper value, requiring a signature not just being left and updated as delivered in the tracking.

That being said, my opinion is that KH should send his end of the trade and ensure it gets to the other party as promised by the agreement. And.....

The other party needs to get KH either the knife from his end or the value of it in cash.

That and a day may make a significant improvement to the situation if it shows up.

Payment has been sent via PP to the other party, and they will be along to clear this up.

Many people probably have more questions than answers at the moment. I.E., what does it mean when the PO says "delivered"? How does that affect a package that was insured? I may have spoken too soon when I said I would be reluctant to deal with KH. As it stands, he has a lot of very positive feedback and I read through a bunch of his posts and he seems like an honest person as far as I can tell. He did react badly when he disagreed with some of the opinions he received here but he was probably upset when he realized that he might be out about 4 bills. Understandable. I would say that this thread might have been premature and maybe wholly unnecessary but I'm sure several people will learn something about the processes involved in trading and selling. For example always insure your packages and have a little patience when it comes to dealing with the USPS and their tracking system. Maybe allow a couple of extra days before you cause a ruckus. I am interested in seeing exactly how this will end.

When ever I do a sell or trade i always put 2 things 1. Is I reserve the right to do business with whomever i please and 2. I reserve the right to end any transaction at any time at my discretion before any money or goods has been exchanged. That being said the post office is bad about saying something has been delivered and it show up the next day, and also they have put my knives in my neighbors mailboxes before. I would never ever ever ship a knife worth 400 bucks without insurance, to knifehunt check with your post office and see what they haft to say, You said you'd be willing to paypal him the money for the knife so IMO that's fair if you can't get answers from the post office. What more can you do really I mean if you don't have the knife, and can't get answers from the post office, the only thing you can do is either, send him your end of the trade or send him the cash, Glad to see your willing to make it right though. I have had several members back out of trades with me, and If you read his post he said he was going to send him an e-mail but he had poor cell reception, like someone else said he came in here for advice, not to be persecuted, I mean usually the other member would of started a thread against knifehunt, saying that he backed out of the trade etc..But the fact that knifehunt came in here and told the truth about the situation, admitted he backed out of the trade and is willing to reimburse the other member, that's all the man can do, once again he came for advice as the other member posted in this thread yet? I don't belive so but I could be wrong, That tells me the other member is not worried about the situation and knows he will either recieve his knife back or the cash to buy a new one...

No, they have not responded to this thread. I have sent payment to the email address asked by the other party, and it came up as a totally different name when sent. I have asked them to verify payment has been received, and they will not respond.

I would be retracting that payment if i were you , because A. the knife could easily be in your mail tomorrow and B. If the names don't match and he's not responding somebody may of just got 400 bucks out of you and it might not even be the right person.

He just responded, and said the money in in his account. I'm stressed.

" I have sent payment to the email address asked by the other party" Wait. What? Why wouldn't you just wait to see if the knife arrives?

nevermind.. I agree with Otaku's post why wouldn't you wait to talk to the p.o before sending him the money?
