I sold a knife with pictures in the thread of lockup and buyer wants a refund.

Paypal, will protect the buyer, 100% of the time, If an item is in returnable condition, i.e. not consumed as in foods, etc. or perishable or timely.

Nope not correct. While this is normally the case there are some good examples of paypal siding with the seller. One is a sticky at the top of the GB&U in fact: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1266669-Sellers-Beware-of-DZLVS8-Steve-Kondel

I still cringe every time I see DZLVS8 post anything. Folks don't know the how bat poop crazy he is. Anyway, there is hope for the OP but it was a risk deciding to let paypal handle it because he will be out his original shipping and might have to pay her shipping back, I think.

The PayPal dispute process will allow each party to upload evidence to the case. Your only hope of winning this is documentation from Microtech that the lockup show in her photo is normal and in-spec. I have been through this process once and the emailed evidence was the proof that won the case. BTW, just tested the lockup on my cheap Cryo II. It was easy to push it from 30% to 50% but very hard to unlock again. Get on the phone with Microtech now if you want any chance with PayPal.

If you pay for the knife to be sent to Microtech, or offer to pay shipping to another buyer, watch out, that may be considered admitting fault in court.

Thank God you are being sarcastic here. You are, right?

While that is a pretty ironclad rule..... it has more to do with being unhappy because something isn't as advertised, and not that they just wanted to try it out, or even send it back because others are for sale for 500 less. She needs to own up and just eat this and move on. I see nothing that he misrepresenting the knife

I just went back to look over the lockup .first the detent ball has nothing to do with placement of lockface.it has the steel lock insert wich means the current lockup is perfect and at its safest imo.with the contrast of steel ware will be slight and very easy to fix by adjust the insert ie what it is made for.I suggest you do not buy expensive knives because of youre complete lack ofknowledge.stick to the production models till you understand lockup.that lockup will never fail to were a early lockup has failed and will fail till brocken in.and I do not think you should have to break in a 2100$ knife.the lockup should be solid and ready to use hard like the one you purchased jenn.I have a seriously mangled nuckle from lightly spine whacking a xm with early lockup never will I want it early again.

busy making up excuses.lol I hope it works out for you greek god.when are you going on vacation.I have a cheap blade I can donate for a quick sale for ya....I little extra money cant hurt.

After reading this entire thread, my desire to buy or sell on Blade Forums has diminished precipitously. Regardless of who's right or wrong, the shrill level at which folks are responding here reminds me of a playground slugfest. Why anyone would want to subject themselves to this sort of circus (even potentially) is beyond me.

Yeah, I know, I'm now on someone's ignore list…

That is a very generous offer. I greatly appreciate it but if this doesn't work out I am sure I will be able to figure something out.

Kudos to you.

Enjoy the rest of your week and I hope all is well for you.

I dont know all about putting you on ignore, but i dont understand why you are questioning everyones participation in this thread and why they would be a part of it. By doing that you like us are now a participant.

Ah yes, I've tainted myself just by dipping my toe and brandishing myself as a "participant" in these devilish deeds. How foolish of me to have fallen into this trap.

I would have thought 4 or 5 pages of stripping this carcass bare would have finished her, but I guess if the vultures are still hopping around the bones there must be some flesh left to strip. Or am I the next meal?

Okay new guy. No problem. More knives for the rest of us. And frankly, with your display here, even if you had a membership that allowed you to sell, I'd have no problem skipping over you sale. Not a great way to start here by whining about how scared you are to deal with the rest of us...

And this has been one of the more helpful threads here of recent. The OP got great advice, some that I had never seen before or even considered.

You also do know that we are being critical of a sheisty, window shopping, liar right? As long as you aren't that you will likely not have a problem. But it is fine with me if you stay away.

Now you are just trolling and calling names. Take that to W&C. That is where most of your posts are anyway....

I think we all can learn a lot from this thread .. Sadly at the expense of GreekGod

I never really considered the fact that the buyers reputation is just as important as the sellers . We now have to considerer the sneaky underhanded nature of some people . And that's going to be that. If you think about it for a second any one of us can be taken down by this kind of crap. This event has locked this guys Pay pal account . That
would be a major pain in my rear end. And really piss me off .

So maybe we should all exercise a little caution when dealing with people and maybe try and do a little investigating before we agree to a deal. What do you guys think ??

These days it seems that there's a new one before the old one is even done.......

I know I have learned a few things. And yes, research even a buyer before you sell. If you don't, you are taking even more of a risk. Don't know how it would have helped in this case. It would have shown where this person mostly posts (buy, sell, trade, IE not a contributing member to this community) and that this person was relatively new with a low post count. It is sad but these things now need to set off red flags for me, truth be told they already did though, sorry new people who are here just to get or get rid of stuff.

And did the new guy say something? I can't see what he writes anymore.

.

And a few ruin it for the good ones. We were all noobs with no feedback for at least one transaction, and most of us did it right. But stuff like this makes people reluctant to trust someone that just wants to buy a knife for real.

Being leary and stay on the side of caution is not always a bad thing..
Ask for references.. Ask for terms..BUT I for one have NEVER sold a HIGH
end custom to a newbie.. I havent and wont..Just how I have done it..

Those trolling folks that prey on trusting folks--LIKE 95% of us in BF
Make it hard for all too enjoy this community.. 7 Pages and this is still rolling..
Just makes me sad to see this happening..
