I want to believe - Survive! Speculations! Get it here!

What about the GSO20? I'm sure after all the handling of Guy's Super Assassin, it HAS to be coming at some point.

What are our thoughts on the "surprise material"???

CPM-S110V super stainless :-)

Or... since CPM-154 is stainless, maybe a non-stainless option. Spyderco just released a mule team knife in CPM-4V, or for a more established option there's CPM-M4. I think both of those are supposed to be able to handle impacts and would be suitable for larger knives. Not sure on how expensive they are though

I really like the knives that I have in M4. Those knives are designed for slicing and are ground thin and run hard, so they aren't survival knives but they do take advantage of the high alloy content of M4.
With the right design and with a very experienced user a chopper in alloys like 10V (or M4) can perform well but those alloys wouldn't commonly be used for such things and they aren't particularly impact resistant.
From what I've read those very high alloy choppers are run much softer than would be considered optimal for knife use. They aren't production knives and so a maker can spend a lot of time on one to get it just right.
I think of those knives as race cars compare to a pick up truck. The car goes fast, but the truck is more practical and carries a heavier load.
I've been warned that 4V is pretty rust prone (probably due to the high carbon content relative to the other elements) so for field use I think I'd rather stick with 3V, which does pretty well under wet conditions.
I just don't need the extra wear resistance in a field knife, and if I did I'd probably carry a smaller knife for those uses.

I also have a couple of knives in S110V, but they are smaller or folders. I've seen larger kitchen style blades in S110V but they were pretty expensive customs.
I'm not sure that S110V would give a meaningful performance boost over 20CV for field knives or be cost effective even if it did.
When the kitchen knives come along I look forward to seeing some offerings in S110V! :)

That's true - I think the ones I've seen have been folders. Benchmade made their Nimravus in M2HS so maybe that's what I'm thinking.
OHHH, it's the steel for the new folders!!! Did he say it was specifically for the 4.7? That would definitely be a surprise! :-D

While they'll be labeled a "kitchen" knife, they'll still be durable enough to handle some camp chores as well as skinning and food prep tasks

And hopefully durable enough to handle the way my wife handles our current kitchen knives...

The wife has her own block of cheap knives and my knives are hidden before any house guests arrive.
Looking forward to seeing what they'll offer, but I suspect it will be a year or more before they get through the scheduled models.

I do most the real cooking.(not to say Mrs toothpick don't cook too) but I don't think she would abuse them if they were in the kitchen. Would I trust my guest with a set of S! kitchen knives, not even the 3v butter knife. :)

- the scandi grind was last seen at Area 51 and was apparently put under lock-down because it was so sharp it could split atoms ;)
Little known fact: the scandi grind was used to cut through space and time to create the wormhole in Interstellar

I don't want to cause any trouble here (I don't think it is a sensitive subject), but who is doing future kydex for S! and why the change? I'm definitely curious, but if the answers have too much to do with business relationships I don't need an official answer. Any theories, SURVIVORS! ?

Perhaps the mystery steel is CPM 4V? It would be a middle ground between 20cv and 3v as far as edge retention and toughness

Definitely not a sensitive subject. The change has been a long time in the making. We knew a while ago that one person wasn't going to be able to keep up with demand forever. Since then there have been a few different times when Kiah has had to politely remind me that he isn't a robot with a meth addiction. But the Kiah sure makes an amazing sheath. It took a lot of trials to find a company capable of reproducing something even close to Kiah's quality. They aren't able to make the clip, so Kiah will still be doing those for us until Guy is able to get his plan a bit further along in the R&D process. We have the utmost respect for Kiah and (I'm pretty sure) that feeling is mutual.

As for "who?" we are not going to be the one naming names. We have an amazing product that we are really happy with and we are learning to keep some things a bit closer to the chest.

If we are talking carbon steels for the SK series I would like to see A2. Its pretty corrosion resistant, tough as heck and takes a crazybedge very easily

Another great post! Thanks, Ellie. I have a TON of respect for how honest and open you and Guy are here on the forum. I am sure regardless of who makes the new sheathes, the product will be awesome,

Keep up the great work!

Do the gso 5s still use kiahdex?

The most recent ones do.

On future stuff I'll likely be mainly involved with smaller projects if needed. The new kydex looks great from what I've seen and they're using my design, so shouldn't be much functional difference either way.
