Idiots on eBay - Classiccutleryusa

Really? I bought a Microtech Socom from them and they were vey nice, and gave me the right knife. Wasn't it covered for $2,000 by paypal?

I bought a Microtech 116-20 SOCOM Elite knife Urban Camo combo from Dave Lewis @ classiccutleryusa & the auction ended on Jul-12-08. I paid promptly on Jul-13-08 & waited & waited for the knife to arrive. I emailed them 3 times during the waiting period with no reply from them at all. Then I finally recieved the first reply from them on 7/29/2008 16 days after my payment here it is below.

Very sorry for the delayed response as I have been out of town. We sold out of those at a recent knife show so that exact item is backordered. Please let us know if you'd prefer to wait or if you'd prefer a refund.
Thank you for your patience.

So they listed an item they didnt have on hand & now they have my payment of $231.39 & no knife to send me & they want to know what I want to do? I want the refund of course so I send an email to them right away asking for the refund that was still on on July 29th.

I thought about it & after waiting 16 days to get my first reply I went ahead & filed a dispute thru paypal & then I called paypal to escalte it to a claim but now have to wait up to 11 more days until paypal will refund my money.

This is unacceptable & it is unfair for them to be allowed to continue to treat people this way & get away with it.

Scroll through his feedbacks and you'll see he gives this same BS excuse often.

The guy is a lying dirtbag.

Report him to ebay's Square Trade group. It's against their rules to sell an item that isn't in stock.

As said above, he does this crap all the time.

I had a bad deal with this jackass Dave when I tried to buy a Benchmade knife from Classic cutlery. I got all of the same responses that you guys are describing on this site. He sold the last one at a show and that they are backordered. I foolishily waited for the next shipment to come in, but guess who quit responding back to me after the time ran out to get my money back. I left messages on his answering machine and sent countless emails. I followed the advice on this site and contacted the New Hampshire Attorney General using the form posted here. Guess what came in the mail today - a knife and a letter from the jackass. I ordered the knife before Christmas last year. I am grateful to you guys and your advice. Don't let this guy take your money. I'll paste his letter that came with the knife.

Dear Mr. Dougherty,
We hope this letter finds you well. We have received a complaint from the office of the New Hampshire State Attorney regarding your purchase of a Benchmade knife in January of this year. To begin, we offer our sincere apology for any inconvenience this has caused. It took a while to locate your order as it mis-filed under "completed" orders instead of backorders. This is made even more embarrassing for us by the fact that these knives have been in stock for months.
In our defense, this could have been resolved long ago if your contact information had been accurate. We have no idea where you received such information, but the Hopkinton address was out-of-date in 1999 (two full years before we ever joined eBay), the phone number on your complaint dates even farther back to a Hudson, NH address, and the e-mail address in your complaint does not correspond to us at all, at any time.
The contact information we have with both eBay and PayPal is accurate (and always has been), so please use that information (the same as shown on this letterhead) if you need to contact us at any time.
Enclosed, please find your original order. We are also enclosing a new Benchmade #981084 Tone Tool knife maintenance kit. Again, we apologize for the excessive delay, and we hope you will enjoy your new Benchmade knife.
Manv thanks for vour understanding

So basically he is saying "were really sorry but it was all your fault"

What a boy he his :thumbdn:

Yeah, that was the feeling I got after receiving the letter. He has to blame someone when he may have been caught trying to cheat somebody. I had asked for my money back but I'm sure Dave sent the knife to keep his profit from the sale. Finally getting the knife was better than nothing at all.

I nominate Classiccutleryusa for Hall of Shame.
Anyone second the nomination?

It should have been done a long time ago. I am still amazed at the number of people on Ebay that order from him. Doesn't anyone read the feedback anymore?

most entertaining thread in ages, do forgive my glee at NOT being a customer of this fascinating individual. not yet, not ever..;)

holy jumping catfish batman, is this guy for REAL? i'd love to drop him into a cowboy roadhouse on a crowded friday night and let him fight his way out.. ain't MUCH chance he'd fail to acquire education.

sheesh. well. there IS a seller on ebay i might possibly buy from. guy that 'ships 3 knives free' .. but EXACTLY 3 only..
