Idiots on eBay - Classiccutleryusa

It seems like every knife I get on ebay from an outfit with thousands of feedbacks takes forever.

Definitely not all the power sellers on ebay are jerks like Dave, but for the most part they know that Ebay is going to back them if there is a problem, so the bad ones aren't concerned about what the people buying from them think.

Keith, that's absolutely the case. I have had wonderful dealings with some of the power sellers who are fantastic buisness people. Courteous, happy to respond to emails, fast to ship and available if there's any problem with the order.

Unfortunately, some of the power sellers who sell enough volume, like you say, and happen to be jerks by nature, really aren't concerned at all what their customers think, and realize they can use their ratio of good to bad feedback to abuse the system.

Latest update: I "won" the PayPal dispute and received a full refund. Classic Cutlery did not even attempt to dispute it. I'm extremely disappointed with eBay over this whole situation. Seems as long as they get their cut, they don't care what kind of abuse the PowerSellers perpetuate.
I think it's time to ditch eBay. It used to be a great place to find weird or out-of-print stuff. Now it has been taken over by losers who wouldn't be allowed a table at your typical flea market.
Given that, where are the best reputable places to buy my beloved Spydercos? By reputable, I mean someplace that has good selection, clearly indicates if an item is in stock before I buy, ships promptly, and actually cares about their customers?

Tim, I'm glad you were paid your due and refunded.

Classic Cutlery hasn't been as reasonable with my dispute. Dave, or whoever is hiding behind the Classic Cutlery title, is still throwing a tantrum by way of Unpaid Item Dispute:

Buyer is cetainly aware that filing a PayPal dispute suspends any prior payment, so the item is now UNPAID. We don't allow anyone here to open attachments, so we are unaware of any such photos. All
items we sell are FACTORY-NEW, and this buyer is just trying to steal this merchandise, hence his refusal to return it. Instead he simply attempts to acquire the item without paying for it. Perhaps in his world that is acceptable, but here we call it THEFT. So much for integrity.

So Dave at ClassicCutleryUSA is now upset that Paypal has suspended payment pending investigation. An investigation he could have easily avoided by just offering to exchange the damaged knife he sent out, or taking the time to copy and paste the three links to photos showing the damage that were in the Paypal dispute to at least see what I'm talking about.

Unreal. With the amount of time and energy Dave expends fighting with customers and thinking up insults, he could be providing an excellent level of customer service.

He tried that crap with me too. I just sent all emails between us to eBay, and it was sorted out.

He's still an asshat.....

Update: I overnighted my Caly 3 from Classiccutleryusa to Spyderco on the 21st. Today, I received an email from Spyderco, stating that they are replacing the knife.

Not because of any of the defects pictured, such as the uneven grind, scratches, or marring on the back spacer, but because the lock is defective.

They say the knife should never have made it through quality control.

While it's possible that all of the defects on the knife were coincidental, and Classiccutleryusa just got a defective knife from Spyderco and shipped it to me without ever looking at it, the probability of that being the case is plummeting.

Well.........I went through paypal to try to retrieve the $134 he still owes me. I have not received a knife or any email responses other than his first one to me stating that he sold the knife that I purchased at a knife show and I would have to wait until he received another from the supplier. I sent two emails to Classic Cutlery through paypal to try to remedy the problem but he never responded to either one. Now I have escalated this to a claim with paypal. Hopefully, I will get my money back.

Not to go too far off topic.
But, I love when vendors do this too:

WOW!, for only $5.00 I can drive over and pick it up myself?

This EXACTLY the same thing that happened to me! I paid for a BM Nitrous Stryker and got the EXACT same response to my email..."sold knife at show"...although I paid for it three days before the "show". Tomorrow I'm going to PayPal to complain about these clowns and the do a charge back on my credit card.

I wish I'd found this thread before ran into these a**wipes!

Read back a few pages...there's info on the state AG. Write them a letter. It probably won't do any good, but at least it keeps them on the radar screen.

And bitch to hellBay's Square Trade dept., too. Anyone as special as Dave needs all the attention he can get.

Is this matter still unresolved? If so maybe I can help in some way. I am intimately familiar with the Hopkinton Police Department:D;) and just might be able to stimulate some voluntary compliance....................................maybe

Y'all hit the nail square! I had a bad experience with 'em too. It's good to read the low down on somebody you've found to be a prick with ears. You guy's tickle me! They will never see a dime of mine.

I just received notice from paypal that they have applied the $134 back to my account. During the entire process of emailing through paypal and having to escalate to a claim with paypal I never received one response in any way from ClassiccutleryUSA. At least I finally got my money back. He has had my money since March 7th without supplying any goods.

email him and tell him this thread is still alive and well, he's still being talked bad about, and he's still an asshat.
