I would definitely buy one if you got rid of the pitting. Not polished but sanded down some like the edges.

How soon could we REALISTICALLY see these ?

(note the word REALISTICALLY.......:D)

Jerry,

I if push came to shove I can live with those dimples if they were DC.But what in the world are those deep vertical grind marks? Those things are typically deeper than the dimples and a real pain to remove.
I have a couple of blades from Wauseon that have these exact same lines on the finish. In the exact same spot, and on both sides of the blade.

Some of these "vertical grind marks" (as you call 'em), you can see right through the crinkle coat, and some that you could only see after the finish was stripped completely off and down to bare steel... ;)

Me too. I had a Dog Father that had those marks on both sides of the ricasso, They almost looked like lightning bolts. Pretty cool. I haven't stripped my present Dog Father yet to see if it has them too.

Bring the fuglys Boss Hog.

I don't read as well as I did back in my school days but do I understand that there will be many different models of competition blades. That would be seriously cool and I would definitiely go for more than one. Buying a piece of history.....Awsome!!!

I'm not sure how they would be offered, but I would be all about these. Put me on the record.

My sneaking and HIGHLY uneducated suspicion (How is that for buildup! :D ) is that those marks are part of the Busse QC process doing a hardness check. Actually Busse Combat blade blankes get tested over the entire length while the scrapyard blades get the spot check.

It just seems too consistant not to be done on purpose.

Oh Yeah!
