Intros all around

I'm Kirk from Kankakee, Illinois. I've been married for 13 yrs. We have an 8 yr old son and another child on the way that's due May 22nd.

I enjoy camping, hiking, geocaching, knives, shooting my Springfield 1911 and hope to learn more about bushcraft. I'd love to attend a wilderness school at some point & would love to take a class at Gunsite.

I'm a n00b at most of this stuff. I want to learn, just need more time to get out and "practice".

I'd post a pic of myself but every time I try, it shows up tiny and I don't know why. If I figure it out, I'll post later.

Never realized there was somany martial artists here..I figured I'd add a little more to flesh out my profiel a bit I've been at my current MA school for 12 years and was at my previous school for 4 years before that before my current job I worked as a fitness trainer and a full contact self defense instructor..I also ran a day program for mentally disabled adults...My wife is awesome and patient..she barely complained 2 months ago when I shot an arrow through the kitchen door.

Now, I am building up a business as a consultant to the outdoor industry, testing and evaluating gear, and working on product development.

I didn't realize. We should talk about this, and see if we can be of some benefit to each other regarding this business.

Hello all,
My name's Dave. I'm a semi-lurker here on WS&S. I'm 38 years old, and employed in the health care field (physical therapist). I've been outdoorsy all my life, but I've learned so much since I've been coming to WS&S, it's amazing. I have a lovely wife, that shares my outdoor interests (for the most part), and a 3 year old daughter that I'm attempting to indoctrinate into the ways of the woods. I live in Grand Junction, CO, and am an avid backcountry skiier/snowboarder, hiker, climber. I'm looking into trying my hand at traditional archery, having been inspired by mtnfolk mike and all his awesome pics (and hats!). I currently have all the knives I need (yeah right!). OK, so I'm in denial;)
Here's a pic of me and my daughter, taken last Christmas out behind our house.

Brian Jones, your moderator. Been practicing MA since 1981, am 42 now. Loved the woods as a kid and always disappeared into them after school, at least when I was not spending 5 hours a day practicing the drums. Originally went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, then later finished up at University of CT, majoring in International Relations with a concentration in Middle East Politics and Culture. Subsequently spent much time working in the Middle East. Played drums for various folks, from The Animals to members of Dicky Betts/Allman Bros. and many others. Went from that into tactical and wilderness training for law enforcement and military, and worked in the security contracting trade for a spell.

Now, I am building up a business as a consultant to the outdoor industry, testing and evaluating gear, and working on product development. I started this subforum back in 1999, when I asked Spark to create it. He, in turn, made me a moderator. Originally it was me, Ron Hood, and Greg Davenport moderating. I did one of Ron Hood's videos, Volume 11 of the Woodsmaster series -- "Solo: The Quest For Survival."

Recently relocated to the mountains of NC, and am working back into tactical training, but this time geared towards citizens as well as LEO/MIL. Also busy playing drums and producing two CDs for local artists here in NC. Loving life!!! Also partnered in building a new hostel-meets-B&B in my town. Living in the building and doing the remodeling.

Also have a great dog, Jedi!!!
