Howdy folks. My name is Bill. I'm currently retired at 64 and living the good life in northern New Mexico. I grew up mostly in Texas, but took a job at Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1978, and I've been a confirmed desert rat ever since.
I have two sons from my first marriage. Here's my first born, David:
David is an architectural lighting designer and trains in mixed martial arts.
My younger son, Kevin works at the corporate offices of a national restaurant chain. He and his wife, Jami, are both marathoners.
I've always enjoyed athletic activities and loved the outdoors. In 1962 I was a high school quarter miler.
Twenty years later, in 1982, I moved on to longer races. This pic was taken after the Los Alamos High Altitude Mini Marathon (20 km at 7500 ft). Incidently, that's Kevin beside me.
In 1991 I married Karen.
What can I say. Karen is the love of my life. Here's a pic I took last year before one of our weekly dinner dates in Santa Fe:
When I meet people who only knew me during my first marriage, I introduce Karen as my "favorite" wife. (What else can you say? "This is my second wife." Or, "This is my current wife." No.)
As my age continued to increase (funny how that happens), I gave up running for hiking. Karen took this pic at the Painted Desert trailhead in 1994.
In 2007 I did a three day trek to the floor of the Grand Canyon and back out. What an adventure!
Finally, last Spring Karen and I vacationed in Texas. She took this pic in Kerrville:
Whew! And that concludes the story of how I spent my first 64 years.
