Good to see you out training on what looks like your own time. Too often I shoot with officers who qualify once a year and that's it.

Kudos to you and thank you for what you do!!

I couldn't hide forever:). Our kids took us to Roy Lake Resort for out 40th. It was a great time and a beautiful place. Soon it will be 41 years together, God willing. Old farmers daughter, we have known each other since I was nine and she was six.

Howdy, My name is Christian and I'm 27 born and raised in Southern California. I'm a stage technician by trade and outdoors lover by design. I'm not married but have an amazing girlfriend of three years. For you martial arts buffs, I pretty much grew up in an Aikido dojo, I spent as much time there as most boys spent playing sports and the like. I have a deep respect for history and nature and find both absolutely fascinating. I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, knives, learning to make knives, prospecting, shooting, forging and just about anything that has to do with the outdoors. I joined the forum to learn more about knifemaking but was instantly sucked into the W&SS and LOVE it, I learn so much everyday that this place is an addiction!

My GF snapped this shot while I was gazing awestruck at the scenery. I diddn't even know she took it until a week later. One of my favorite pics.

you are welcome. I qual quarterly for the hell of it...i shoot at least 3 times a month on my own dime.

wow, hadn't realized how much MA experience there was in here. I'm far from an expert- when I was in the Navy I took aikido and some soo bak do, total of a couple years. Add in a year of juk lum and more recently 3 years of hapkido (another one of those hard schools. 3 years a blue belt, I guess what you'd call a 3rd gup except there's only 6 belts in the school)

I've never managed more than 5 minutes on an MA forum.

This is an excellent thread! I'm seeing a lot of people I know but have never seen!

My name is Josh. I'm 27 and live in southwestern Ohio. I'm employed, but I can't say where. I do this all the time...

My hobbies are knives of course, firearms, wilderness training, emergency rescue, anything outdoors, and providing valuable information to the President of the United States in regards to what is the best way to remove vanilla pudding from his suit. Actually, I'm kidding about that last one.

My name is Jeff, I'm 27 and I travel, well.....way too much, all for work. I'm married and I have two boys (2 year old and 3 months old). I love everything outdoors. From hunting and fishing to snowboarding and climbing. I like both the hippie and the redneck outdoor pursuits.:D

I've been collecting knives since I was 6. My grandfather was very into woodwork and got me interested in knives at a very young age. I've carried one everyday of my life since then.

Skip to about the 5:50 mark. I'm the guy with the gun and the amazing trigger control.:D

it was a mock training class for the TV show Unique Whips. In the video my co-worker, Bob, is giving me instructions just to make it look like training. I actually paint circles around him :p:D.

Hi all, my name is Russell, and I'm a recent addict of W&SS and BF :)

I have been doing research in hepatic and intestinal fibrosis with the University of California these past couple of years, and I hope to make it into medical school when I apply in a year or two. Therefore, I'm really trying to make the most of the free time I have now :)

I was born and raised in Hawaii, and I've always been into outdoor activities, especially ones that involve the ocean :) On top of that, I've always been interested in knives. So naturally, I ended up here at BF, with W&SS as my new found home. I thoroughly enjoy learning from all of you, and I count myself lucky to have stumbled across this great wealth of collective knowledge and experience. I'm a relative green horn when it comes to survival skills and everything associated with it, so it's great to pick up things from other members here.

I live with my ravishing, awesome, compassionate, and patient girlfriend. So far she's put up with my maturing love of sharp stuff :) I'm a glutton for good books, movies, and video games just as much as I am for new views, quiet spaces, and serene moments. I wish I had a dog, but have to settle for playing with my neighbor's ridiculously friendly Newfoundland for now. :D And lastly, I really want to get into photography, whittling, boxing, and BJJ in the next couple of years. It's nice to meet you all! :D

My name is Benjamin Bouchard, 22 and I am a cutlery and optics sales rep currently working at the Cabela's in Scarborough, ME. I spent the past three summers working at Jekyll and Hyde Shops in Bar Harbor (my hometown) playing with everything from razors to swords but due to the seasonal nature of the job I find myself where I am now.

I play the French Horn, am a level 2 NAA archery instructor, enjoy fencing though I haven't done it in a while, do amateur photography and consider myself something of an oldschool video gamer. Other passions include loose-leaf tea and fine wine.

I played bass clarinet all through school.
I play a didgeridoo.
I play native american flute.
I play Bass guitar.

I don't have any kids.... I don't have any pets....

Alright, I'll take a whack at this. I'm 27, married for a little more than 4 years to a beautiful and understanding gal who I managed to sink my hooks into her first day at college (so she was off the market before a good guy got to her ;D ). I have a degree in marketing, and walked away from a career in sales where I would be making double what I'm making now because I realized 40 years was too long a time to spend doing something you hated. Now I'm a Fire Fighter and an EMT and couldn't imagine doing anything else. The rule in my house growing up was Eagle scout before driver's license, so I spent a ton of time working towards that, and had them both at the age of 16. I haven't been spending as much time outdoors as I would like in the interim, but lately have been inspired by this place to get out and do it much more frequently. Thanks for the tips one and all. Take care!

I'm from WV originally and love the woods. Now I'm 41, married with a hillbilly wife and two boys who love the outdoors. At the moment I'm a corporate exec sellout type working at a corporate HQ. Did 10 years in the Army and loved it. Lived all over (Europe and U.S.) in the Army and as a civilian. 22 years of martial arts (lots of styles) and I run a small school now. I love the outdoors, guns and knives. I shoot every weekend and we hike and camp as much as possible - just not in the summer due to poison ivy!

I`m John, 55 years old, currently unemployed after 37 years. I`ve been married for 21 years, and have a 30 yr old stepdaughter, a 25 yr old stepdaughter, and a 25 yr old daughter. Also a 12 yr old grandson, a 6 yr old grandaughter, and a 4 yr old grandaughter. I enjoy shooting my guns, and love to fish when I can. I also enjoy making knives, and have the greatest wife in the world for letting me pursue this.
(and apparently I`m one of the oldest guys here)

Brian Jones, your moderator. Been practicing MA since 1981, am 42 now. Loved the woods as a kid and always disappeared into them after school, at least when I was not spending 5 hours a day practicing the drums. Originally went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, then later finished up at University of CT, majoring in International Relations with a concentration in Middle East Politics and Culture. Subsequently spent much time working in the Middle East. Played drums for various folks, from The Animals to members of Dicky Betts/Allman Bros. and many others. Went from that into tactical and wilderness training for law enforcement and military, and worked in the security contracting trade for a spell.

Now, I am building up a business as a consultant to the outdoor industry, testing and evaluating gear, and working on product development. I started this subforum back in 1999, when I asked Spark to create it. He, in turn, made me a moderator. Originally it was me, Ron Hood, and Greg Davenport moderating. I did one of Ron Hood's videos, Volume 11 of the Woodsmaster series -- "Solo: The Quest For Survival."

Recently relocated to the mountains of NC, and am working back into tactical training, but this time geared towards citizens as well as LEO/MIL. Also busy playing drums and producing two CDs for local artists here in NC. Loving life!!! Also partnered in building a new hostel-meets-B&B in my town. Living in the building and doing the remodeling.

Also have a great dog, Jedi!!!
