Ka-Bar's new Fun stuff: Zombie Killers

Not too interested in the Zombie line.

Easy there Shakespeare, we have word limits in our posts here, next time, try not to be so verbose, I mean, just look at that wall of text you left there.

I like it. threatx3 could probably ask a question in... oh I don't know... a DPx thread without navel gazing and delivering his life story. :D

I love the Potbelly. I love the Baconmaker. I love the handles. My favorite knives.

For a $45 street price, in 1085 carbon, I'm gonna buy all of them. I even like the green handles. :p

I might buy the folder. I wish the baby Baconmaker was in 1085.

3cr13 steel sucks. The Piggyback is 5cr13 steel and it sucks too.

Anyone actually at SHOT from Bladeforums? I'd like to get some photos of the new becker release, and everything else.

must be cold up there off exit 20 ... we already SAID ... there are no new Beckers. yet. grumble! :D :D :D

Shoot! If I could get them all for $45, I'd buy about 10 of each. Heck, that'd be cheaper than a Mora.

They are neat blades but I don't like the ZK name for them, I find the whole zombie thing to be silly and played out...

People with there "zombie response bags"...etc. give me a break....

and you from the pacnorwest too! i'm surprised :eek::eek::eek:

HEAVY HEAVY zombie population here.........

everyone i know locally and regional has a ZOMBIE BAIL OUT BAG ready.

UNDEAD WILL REPENT AGAINST THE EDGE OF OUR KNIVES!!!! REPENT INTO DEATH!!!!!!!!!

From what I've read above (sideshowbob8's post), the choppers are closer to 3/16" thick. I still like them. 1/4" inch thick would be awesome, but no big whoop.

I was going off of what I read from the article linked in the OP:

"There’s the ZK “Pestilence” chopper, featuring a 10 1/4-inch blade and priced at $75.63."

Either way, the thing looks massive. My big fear is that people won't take the knives seriously with respects to the functionality of their design, steel and KA-BAR warranty. This seems to have been either an insanely risky, or insanely smart move by KA-BAR. People will buy these knives... It's just a question of WHO will buy them that concerns me. Real users? or dipshit keyboard commandos who actually buy their gear for the SOLE purpose of thwarting a zombie attack.

With the exception of the tanto designs, I like them. We all know Ka-Bar's not going to make a bad knife, so quality's not a big concern for me. Is the name somewhat gimmicky? Yes, but I like zombie-related stuff, so again, not a big concern. Those who don't care for the toxic green color will have black scales included to soothe their burning eyeballs. Both the big choppers look purty damn useful, IMO. Certainly just as useful as a BK9 or Junglas, which are the two most common measuring sticks for blades in that niche around here. Looks like the folder comes in a clip point as well as the tanto, so that gives me a folder I can like. I think they'll sell very well. I certainly intend to buy a couple.

Why does it concern you? Just curious.

Well, I know why it concerns me. The desire to create new knife designs that "fit" new trends and surge sales, over taking the standard designs that have consistant sales. Basically, creating flash in the pan knives for rapid sales surges, then once the new is worn off, create another new knife, for a rapid sales surge, all the while, a 'ol standby knife that has been a consistant seller, is bumped in production, for a the new trendy knives that sell faster, but don't sell consistant.

Its happened to some companies, that have well over 200 designs, they make but none of them are the "bread winner", just so much flash and bang, the fizzle, on to the next one.
