Keep An Eye Out for Berak

I had a guy try to bone me the same way Berak here tried to do. This guy even admitted to me that it was his intention to do so. I called douchebaggery on him and he immediately changed his tune and went through with the deal and the deal actually worked well for both of us.

Guess I was just lucky.

Your right, you know better than I do what the chance was that I wasn't going to buy his knife and now you know better than I do how I feel.

It's really pretty simple - If there is even a chance, no matter how small, that you may not be willing to follow through with the purchase, then you shouldn't commit to buying it. Sorry, but "I'll take it" does not equal "I'll take it as long as I don't find anything that I like better in the meantime".

And for that I was wrong. I have no problem with that.

What is it you have the problem with?

Being called out?

I have a problem with how this whole thing was handled. Dave immediately retracted to offer to sell when I told him there was a small chance I'd buy another knife instead. I wasn't given any chance to apologize or follow through with the offer, as I intended to do anyway, excepting for that one small chance. I was called a flake, Dave called a mod to give me a warning for defending myself in the thread where he calls me a flake (apparently thats OK though). This thread is started to smear my reputation becasue now Dave has an Axe to grind, and as says, he's loving every minute of it. Good for him.

Wouldn't any "self respecting human" give the guy a chance to make good on the offer before calling him down and flogging him public? I certainly would. I guess there are just those mean spirited people who love to bring the pain whenever they can for whatever reason. I don't understand that but I guess the liklihood of that kind of person hanging out in a weapons based forum is higher than average.

Guy's,

I will eventually post the email that
is going to prove Berak the biggest
delusional flake we've had here in a while....

He doesn't even believe what he is saying....
He is trying to convince himself first, and he
can't even do that!

I was just waiting to see if any sense hit him first...

I guess Kellogg's just doesn't get it.

Allow me:
Tim,

I know you are new here, but you don't say I'll take it and then wait to see if something better comes around.
You can ask all the questions you want without committing but when you commit your word is what is at stake.

I will not sit around and wait for you to make up your mind.
Look elsewhere and don't expect a good word from me.

In my own humble opinion I must call DOUCHEBAGGERY on you Sir for not just owning the whole thing and continually trying to redirect the blame.

You have already admitted you were wrong, all you have to do is own it and I would imagine you would be forgiven by your peers.

One guy said "I'll take it" to me in a trade and while I was awaiting the address information I saw his name pop up on another trade thread, I checked in on it and he was trying to shop his knife to someone else two minutes after posting on my thread that my trade was a done deal. Trade threads get confusing as posts go on and on and when someone reads "I'll take it" or "done deal" they usually assume the item is gone and move on from that thread for good.

I think that is the point to the whole thing, a man is only as good as his word.

Dave isn't the one who's tarnishing your reputation, you're doing a good job of that all by yourself. Oh, and by the way, if you are going to present any evidence, you may want to make sure it supports your case, not the other party's.

I presented the email, unaltered, as is. I guess my reputation here is forever ruined for making a simple mistake. I will try to get on with my life the best way I can.

I sir have never used a knife as a weapon, would never want to and never even entertained the thought.

"weapons based forum"? Knives are tools to me. I don't even like guns myself.

Are you now trying to blame everyone here by calling us mean spirited people who love to bring pain and hang out on weapons based forums?

I think most of us just think a man should act like a man.
