Everyone is certainly entitled to make their own informed opinions as to whether or not they will deal with Kirk. As a matter of information for those who might be contemplating a transaction with him, I offer my personal experience with him.

I had an unused Busse FBMLE up for sale for $750. Kirk posted an unequivocal "I'll take it" in my thread, which is what I requested the buyer (any buyer) to do. I received no lowball offer from Kirk. I received no trade offer from Kirk. He simply stated that he would take it and accepted all of the terms for payment as listed in my thread.

We exchanged address information via e-mail and two days later (Thurs. night), I received a USPS MO from Kirk for the full amount. Then mid-morning on Friday, Kirk posted a question in my original thread to see what was up because he had not heard back from me yet and was apparently concerned that the $750 may have been delivered to the wrong address. I emailed him as soon as I saw that he was looking for me because though I had just gotten the MO the night before, I was concerned that perhaps he was having second thoughts about the FBMLE. In my email, I asked him about his intentions and offered to mail back the then uncashed MO with no hard feelings, but he stated again unequivocally that he wanted the knife. That knife went out yesterday, and I expect that he will be getting it on Monday. I also anticipate that when he does get the knife, he will be happy with his purchase and our deal will be complete. And if that is the case, I will be leaving positive feedback for him.

I am sorry for anyone who may have had a bad transaction with Kirk in any way. This is a great community and I tend to steer clear of such fellows rather than take a chance that I will become the next victim for a douche bag. But in my case, Kirk has come through and done so in a way that I would expect of any buyer. He could have simply disappeared for a few days and offered no communication. He could have tried to lowball me, offer a trade after saying "he'd take it", or come up with any number of reasons or ways to stall or blow me off. He did not do any of these things. He did in fact do the right thing, and to the tune of $750. That's a pretty good chunk of change; clearly he was at least as committed to that FBMLE as he was to the $750 he spent, and probably more so.

Thanks for reading.

Let ye who is without sin cast the first stone.I did apologize to him,and sorry this is the first time ever that i've bought anything I haven't seen or touched before,no Busse shop's around here.I've made some mistakes for sure and I apologize to all for that. But I've never burned anyone or hurt anyone personally and i've bought quite a few knives on this forum without a problem.I consider myself a good man with good moral's that made some mistakes, like we all do from time to time, move on already.Kirk

And ask Maestro Hayes about me,His friend accidentally shipped a knife to me while Cutter was on a trip.I had only given him a $250 deposit with about $500 still owed on this SHBM Knife.I sent him the money and were good, hopefully he see's this and chime's in

Main reason behind me blowing up at cold one was at the time I was buying a SHSH11 of tapedeck74(bladeforum's)He's fom Canada,so is cold one.Canadian custom's had just confiscated my $775 for no apparent reason, turned out to be random,so I was like a ticking bomb that day, cold one turned out to Canadian. The rest is history.I ended up finally getting it though. If cold one was a man about this he'd publish the apology I sent him,Kirk N.

So let me get this straight. Canadian Customs held up something of yours so you got mad at a Canadian. Any reason to believe Cold One works for Customs there? Nooo ...

Now you say Cold One's not a man? It's all him being the bad guy, you're the preacher here, telling us read out our Bible.

I wouldn't deal with you if we were face to face and you were handing out cash.

That's one of the top-ten bad rationalizations I've seen here.

It's simple really...

Don't make lowball offers that insult the seller.

If you say, "I'll take it," then take it. Don't back out of deals.

Don't call people names. Period.

Oh yeah, and...

If you're mad at Canadian Customs, don't take it out on random Canadians. :p

Really, that's your excuse?

So, someone of any particular group rubs you the wrong way and you cast aspersions on everyone even remotely connected to them?

Saw this one coming down the pike. Let me offe some constructive background:

This being an Internet trading post of sorts, each person's behavior in threads is all we have to go on in terms of said person's character. Due to the nature of buying/selling on the web, a person's character must be perceived as flawless or unquestionable if that person wants to do business. It's too easy to rip/be ripped off over the net.

As such, we take situations like this very seriously. None of us wants to be taken for a knife or money, so when we see something questionable, we take the responsibility to let it be known. It forces some honesty, and maintains the integrity of this site we all love to spend time on.

You might want to consider this seriouy, Kirk, and then work a bit on improving the perceptions of the people here. You're rep has suffered a serious wound. Only way to fix it now is to let all your subsequent interactions and actions be above reproach.

And so you know, those of us who have been here a little while and had many positive transactions--we tend to care a bot about each other--especially in the Busse subforum. As such, we will usually act to protect our fellows. Don't take it personally...just act in such a way that you can be considered a part of it.

+1... Well stated man; hounding him at this point is counter-productive IMHO.

Perfect entertainment for slow moving traffic. Relish these scenes when presented! This new friend will be toast soon, as well. I must add: this forum like several others I belong to are filled with polite, decent guys that do what they say. They reassure my faith in man, temporarily anyway.

Amen brother! That is why I like it here. There still is something to be said for character. You said it almost perfectly. Not all are polite, they do have character.

Perhaps Kirk didnt know the etiquette that "ill take it" means that you are saying "I do till death do us part" The forum doesnt explicitly tell you the rules of no haggling prices and the "i'll take it" was maybe his way of securing knives he wanted. Sometimes learning the unspoken rules of the forum takes time. Lets give him a second chance now that he is well aware of the etiquette...IMO

What part of "I will take it" is confusing?

It's quite different from "Will you hold that for me while I make up my mind?"

To add, I too have said "I'll take it" and then had second thoughts. Because I found a different knife. Because I found a better deal. Nonetheless, I have followed through on my promises of "I'll take it" because I am only as good as my word, especially in a place where my words are the main things that represent me.

If you post or email "I'll take it," then take it. It's not rocket science.

Somebody needs to make that a sticky in the "for sale" forum.

Funny thing is I apologized to the man, don't see him publishing that.It seems a little to easy for you all to make judgement's like you are.Like none of you have ever lost your temper before?Let ye that hath no sin cast the first stone.......

Nice try kid. Some of us don't make it online every day to harass people like you chose to.

Amusing that less than 24 hours after you sent a note you resort to insults again. Quite the demonstration of your true character.

Yes, I did receive an "apology" from this individual. Do I believe a word of it? Not at all.

Why you ask? It was sent on Fri, 21 Aug 2009 20:16:38 +0000 (That is right out of the email header). Quite a while after he claimed to have sent one and got called out and caught in his lie while trying to sucker another seller in. Yeah, I am sure you mean every word of this:

Just wanted to apologize for cussing at you.Canadian had just confiscated a
$775 international mo for aknife I was buying off the forum,so I wasn't
happy with anybody from Canada at that time.Still I feel that's no excuse
for losing my temper at you,i am sorry about that,Kirk

Bottom line, there are an absolute ton of amazing folks on this forum who are great to deal with. Why take the risk with the occasional unbalanced individual.

I have also said "I will take it" in several knife buys, and had second thoughts. It always happens that when you buy one thing, you will immediately see some thing else (like a different color combo, or better sheath and deal).

I have not yet backed out. I treat it like a hand shake or signing a contract.

I try not to make negative comments on here, especially to swear at anyone. It comes back to you.

I don't have a ton of feed back, but I have tried my best to make sure that what feed back I have is good feed back.

I am not saying that I have not seen people on here that annoy me, or say or do things that anger me. I have yet to fly off the handle, or curse at anyone in a thread.
