Thanks Cold One for alerting us once again for the character of this guy. :thumbup: Someone take the shovel out of Kirk's hands. He keeps digging deeper. I think most of us follow through when we pull the trigger and say, "I'll take it." It is an honor code.
 
While backing out of a deal after saying "I'll take it" is fairly serious, I didn't feel that was the issue here. I've had people back out for a variety of reasons and I do not hold it against them. Life is life and things happen. To me, quality of communication is the paramount item in any exchange.

His attitude is what really concerned me. I wonder how far he would take things if he got buyers remorse? I wouldn't be surprised by a false Paypal dispute. In the end, I hope that I helped at least one purpose avoid getting burnt.

If you look at the chain of events you can see kirk69 paint a picture of his attitude and approach to things.

1. Agrees to a deal
2. Changes mind and tries to change the deal (No big deal, I don't agree)
3. Something twitches and he sends the silly response I posted in the first post.
4. I post up to warn others
5. kirk69 shows up and acts like he is the one that was wronged, shows no remorse or understanding for his actions
6. Other good members show up who have also had bad dealings with kirk69.
7. kirk69 lies in another thread that he sent an apology to me in order to try and convince a seller he is ok.
8. kirk69 gets called on his lie
9. kirk69 then sends a terse apology and promptly posts in this thread bitching that I won't man up and post his apology.

Anyone else guess that kirk69 will shortly show up and try to claim that he did send the apology ages before he posted in the EE thread that he had done so? Heck, perhaps he sent it mere seconds after the first insulting note! ;)

Ah, so much amusement so little time. :D

Nobody "confiscated" his money order. Customs never touched his money order. Either US or Canadian mail took longer than he thought they should, or he didn't send it out right away and was blaming someone else for the delay.

I think it is as simple as this: A man has but one thing in this life that NOBODY can take from him. No matter what is going on, financial situations etc..., they can take your house, your truck, your whatever, but nobody can take from you who you are. Your word is your bond, it identifies you as who you are. If I make a statement/promise, I keep it. You can take that to the bank. I noticed early on Kirks entry into the forum and the strange posts that appeared to show interest and then something else. I figured it would be just a matter of time before one the the OP's posted something. I was right, and thank you Cold One for the heads up for everyone. NOW, having said that, if Kirk is really a Busse fan, he will research and see what it takes to be a HOG, or just a real Busse fanatic and truely change his ways and become a participating member of this forum. It can be done but there must be an effort, a big one! Time will tell, a short amount of time!

I agree, despite what I wrote before. If someone has a legitimate emergency and needs funds to go elsewhere, I'm not going to hold it against them for backing out of a deal.

Now watch. kirk69 will suddenly start developing emergencies to rationalize his inability to complete deals. :p
 
Like 99% of the great people here at BF, If I ever posted "I'll take it" in a for sale thread here, there is no excuse whatsoever that will ever stop me from paying a seller for the item.

IMO, this guy is a tool, and worst of all, he's a liar and a cheat.

Rule of thumb: NEVER do business with a tool who's a liar and a cheat.

+14. I will never back out of a deal here. If I say 'I'll take it' consider it sold or traded or confiscated or whatever. We are only as good as our word here and to most of us that means a lot.

and on BFC I'll take it means you will BE a man of your word and commit to every step of the deal like the stand up person you are.
AND on BFC I'll take it is what a man of his word does in a deal without fail.........................

Hey kirk69, WHO do you think "confiscated" your money order? Canadian Customs? Do you have a clue what Customs does for a living? Do you know the mail can be slow, a letter can get shunted aside, left behind in a mail bag, slide under a letter-sorting machine?

The First Law of Holes ... you DO NOT need to be posting here. Go on about your business and try to do things right and you may build a reputation for reliability instead of argumentativeness.

Allow me to explain myself, dude.

You see, you have dealt with me. Indirectly.

You dealt with me and every other knife collector here the moment you screwed over a very respected member of this close knit knife collecting community at BF by refusing to follow thru with your end of the bargain.

I called you a tool because your attitude stinks for a guy who supposedly accidentally just pissed all over his own reputation by not knowing what "I'll take it" means and then claiming it happened because "I'm inexperienced". Then, you fumble the apology. And even when you do apologize, you screw that up and come off like a boob.

I called you a liar for saying "I'll take it", when you didn't take it, and I called you a cheat for cheating all the people you said "I'll take it" to and then holding out on your side of the deal you made.

I don't know, maybe I am being too harsh here with you over this....And then again....

Nevertheless, the fact that you've admitted to screwing up and that you won't do it again is the most important thing here as far as I'm concerned.

Personally, just for your promising not to do it again, I accept your apology even though you specifically excluded me from it.


Now if you'll excuse me, I have a kite to go fly.

Kirk can redeem himself, if he loses his grip on the shovel. Time will tell, and grace does abound here. I have seen it in action. Kirk, you now know, as RWS says it right, we do look after each other. We will speak up if there is dishonesty in the exchange in regards to misdealings or overly obnoxious behavior. Whine and cheese is where you can mouth off and act up, not in the exchange. There is room for a u turn if you want to.
 
Maybe it was a money order with a gravity-assist opener.

"I'll take it" is what Gary Gilmore said when he thought he was being asked through all the screaming and cheering; "Do you want death by lethal injection?" WHAT, yelled Gilmore. Do you want death by lethal injection?" What, do I know what my last meal selection is?" "DO YOU WANT DEATH BY LETHAL INJECTION the Guard yelled ...No said Gilmore. The screaming intensified and gary tried to listen and was certain he heard correctly; "you want fried squid? Gilmore jumped and shouted "I'll take it said Gilmore.
