Knives You Hate!!

Id have to a agree with dull knives, I hate dulls knives enough I tend to sharpen on coffee cups. For most of the night, a lot of times. Damn ocd.

I am not attracted to the flat, round, disc thumb opener, and refuse to own any as such.
A basic thumbstud, flipper, or a Spydie Hole for me.

-Also hate when i notice (IMO) a design flaw, as far as adding /removing of something,
or positioning of certain things, as well as blade styles, handle material, etc.
B.T.B

Serrated edges, partial or full, in kitchen knives or others.

I own couple of them, an Eickhorn PRT, a Spydie Clip It and two so called "bread knives" for kitchen the other one being a Victorinox and the other one a cheap POS.

I can't believe I actually read through all of this thread, I hate this thread now.

A knife to hate has to be a big comedown from high expectations, and for no reason. I have to say two of the most painful ones I remember were Al Mar SOG type bowies (and I absolutely love many Al Mar fixed blades, just not these two):

This one may look like a perfectly fine knife, but a clue to its problem lies in the deceptive proportions: The blade looks 6" here, but is in fact 6 3/4" or more, and the result is the spacing of the finger grooves is definitely for hands of extra-terrestrial origin... I have very large hands, and they fell way short to fill the grooves even from the very first groove(!): Imagine how it went from then on to all the others, which get subsequently more and more off... I cannot believe that this handle is of Al Mar (or even human) design, but he does have a few that show basic ergonomic flaws, like the Pathfinder handles and others...

Here is another Al Mar whose handle just felt terribly wrong in the hand:

Here the problem is more obvious: You can see the unnatural depth of the handle near the guard (same issue on the Pathfinders): It kind of looks like it might be ok, but believe me it is not... And both of these have very nice blades. A shame...

Al Mar designed some incredibly good handles for daggers (the Shadow IV's handle is probably the best dagger handle ever designed), but a lot (not all) of the single edge designs are potentially slippery, or just don't look quite as secure as they should... I am about to get an Al Mar "Special Warfare", and the handle feel is something I await with some trepidation...

Al Mar is said to have studied in industrial design, yet handle issues are kind of more prominent on his designs... The first knife above you really have to handle to believe it...

I hate knives that come dull from factory. A high quality knife should come hair popping sharp from the factory, every time.

Ugh - Schrade Cliphanger.

The ugliest, most useless piece of crap to ever come from an otherwise ok company.

The three buck knives that I own all make me hate Buck knives for producing such rubbish at overinflated prices.
The Buck 397 Omni Hunter 12PT folder, rubber overlay on a plastic frame with sharp edges and a backlock with the spring just too strong for comfortable use. Riveted together
The other two are a Buck 288 Quickfire, the plastic overlay broke after a week. And a Buck 283 Nano Bantam, a small one that failed to deliver anything but blade flex.
I know about the Famous Buck Forever Warranty - great if you are in the U.S.A. but pretty much meaningless anywhere else. Paying import duty every time the knife is imported hikes the price for the Forever Warranty beyond what the knife is worth.
I'm not going to say I hate Buck as a make, just the three that I've tried has put me off buying any more Buck's when there are so many other makes out there offering better design and quality.

Try a Reate's Knife sometime Sir. It will change your tune to "everything with the word China on it besides a Reates" Just like Japan, China will very soon make great products. It will be quite a few years before China has a Toyota or Honda, but it is a coming, no matter how much chinsy crap they keep pumping out to the contrary

I love my reate. Still there will always be people who will hate a chinese knife no matter if the quality were to match or exceed our own. I dont agree with it but those people dont agree with me either.

I hate all custom knives "knifes" lol I want them all but that's impossible or is it....???? Or something I can't trust do to poor quality because of the potential of losing a body part like a China knife
