I'd recorded the package he returns to you being opened incase he sends you a brick instead of the knife

Agreed, based on his less than honorable actions so far.
I'd like to hear from him as well but what's for him to say? He deceived the seller about his location and proxy arrangement to get what he wants and get around people not wanting to sell and be involved in international transactions. Then his little plan goes wrong and now wants to shaft the seller for damages that occurred where the shipping was never to have taken place to begin with.

Ok, I'll try to put this together since we only had two e mails. Read from bottom to the top.

How come it took so long to tell me??
Send it to me and I can get Jim to fix it.

I then wanted answers as it was bugging me.
This is after I told him he could send it to the maker.

I have some questions.
Why did you wait over three weeks to report this to me???
Do you live in the USA???
.
The package was fully insured and I will have a hard time making a claim.

Did you report this to your Post Office when you received the package???
Did you take a pic of the damage box when you received the package???

I have no way of knowing that it was damaged in shipping.
It could have been dropped on the floor for all I know.

You could sent it to the maker directly.
That will get me out of the shipping loop.

Waiting three weeks is what bothers me the most.
That is why I insured it.

Bobby

I never got a response until his claim in PP. I refused the offer and escalated the claim.

I don't mind if someone outside US uses a proxy with the address tied to their PP account
I don't even mind if they tell me about it.
I would mind them doing this and expecting me to have any responsibility past the delivery to the US address for something I didn't even know was happening. Thus leaving me with more people handling it, much longer journey, customs , foreign mail services and no insurance , as well as someone else packaging it for re-shipment(maybe )
Just some opinions related to the subject
I do think the buyer is making a big mistake in not taking responsibility here that will end with no one willing to work with him. Unfortunately he also may affect other non US buyers as well.

I think it's worth asking PayPal why they opened a closed case (something they stated could not be done), and why the knife is shipping from China. The knife was sent to and received in the U.S. Both yourself and PayPal are absolved of anything that occurred after that. If anything LIN should, at least, have to prove that the knife was damaged when it arrived at the U.S. address.

The knife tip broke. It will not get settled here. It is he said, she said. All of this could have been solved in a week. I still would have sent it to be fixed for him. Don't try to extort me for $608.00. That told me all I needed to know about him. No correspondence to help resolve the issue except his first e mail.

I sent this to PP this morning telling them this again. No response yet. It took three supervisors over the phone to decide in my favor the other day.

This package was received fully insured to his address in NH and repackaged and shipped to
The buyer in China without my knowledge. I thought the buyer lived at the address in NH.
He waited three weeks to contact me about the damage. If the item was damaged when received in
NH, I should have been notified immediately. I have no control when someone damages an item and ships
It to a third party. I feel that by shipping to a middle man, I was lied to. Pay Pal should also be concerned
That the buyer is using a middle man and having them repack items to send to another country.
I think this is fraud by obtaining items under false pretenses.

LIN has been pinging my radar for awhile now. So much so, I questioned a mod about him awhile back, at first suspecting he might be a shill for Liu Kang. They reported that his e-mail and IP was in mainland China, so at least one mod is already aware of this. I now wonder if he is working in support of the counterfeiters over there?

He's been buying a LOT of custom and high-dollar knives here on the forum lately; That's about all he seems to do. Sure, he could just be a rich Chinese knife aficionado, but something definitely smells fishy to me.

Hope it works out for you Bobby! Good luck!!! There is NO reason that Paypal should have ruled against you IMO. The fact that you shipped to a US address as requested, yet the buyer lives in China and was using a third party to forward the stuff should have been more than enough evidence for them. Sorry for your troubles.

I'm glad you are following up with PayPal. It's unlikely they will rule in your favor but worthwhile to persue on principle.

Glad to see you are still pursuing this. Hopefully PP gets it right this time.

Come on LIN, you need to get involved in this discussion. Does your middle man check for damages when they receive items from sellers? Do you pay for insurance on the shipments that they send to you? If you left the seller with no way to file an insurance claim, then you should be the one stuck with the broken knife. The way things look now makes you out to be a deceitful person, so if the information provided isn't accurate, you should speak up.

You know I think the same. I've noticed he buys lots of Busse blades and there was a really horrible fake Busse posted a few weeks back.
He could be just a Busse lover or a fake Busse maker using the real thing as a model. Either way he's a crook and is on my ignore list.
