LOL. I am having a ball with this one. Following its development, hearing CJ talk about it while in Post Falls, watching the Shot Show debut and now having it in hand really builds excitement and finally satisfaction. Winner winner chicken dinner for Buck.

The Marksman is a bold bragging brash bust head Boston Bully Boy bad ass quiet stealthy high end wonderment. It compares favorably to the existing production icons of the flipper market.
 
Thanks for posting Oregon. Looks like a great new addition to the Buck lineup. I'll be seeing Larry at the Shenandoah show Saturday and I'm pretty sure he'll have mine with him. Might have to let my wife drive on the way home so I can play with it.

He seems to be able to do it all and do it with style. What a guy. Someone I can vouch for. When you get a Buck knife from him you know where it came from: Directly from the Buck factory, no questions and no ifs ands or buts about it. That is worth a bunch IMHO. He has, as do you, 1/2 a beer coming next time we meet. Yup, a full 1/2! :)
 
Looks like not only a great everyday nice,but a pretty good folding hunting knife too,not buck 110folding hunter good,but good just the same lol. .

I'm not crazy about the bead blasted finish, but I still REALLY want one of these knives. I might get one and stone wash the blade....
 
I've been carrying a flipper knife for several years now so I'm a seasoned flipper. This Buck Marksman 830 is the quickest and easiest, bar none, that I've tried. Your results, particularly if you are new at opening a folder via the flipper nub, may vary. For the newbies: I push DOWN on the nub as if I was trying to force it thru the handle. I don't flick my finger downward but because the nub rotates it ends up looking like I'm flicking my index finger backward. I'm pushing down with a will, real anger, split-second violence between me and the knife, is what opens my flippers. I would give your skills a few days to jell before making any adjustments to the lockbar. Let me know if this helps.

I wish I could go back in time and give this knife to my grandfather and to my father. They would have loved it. You get a knife like this as a gift and someone loves you. No bull. You buy this as a gift for someone and you will be sorely tempted to keep it for yourself. It is a heck of a tool.
 
Is the handle slabs a blue color or is that the way it is coming out in the pics?

Not sure, but I think I got their last one? Order with it in stock, and checked again at the listing it's now changed to out of stock. Hoping their website is accurate and I'll get one.

Flat black. The first set of photos, in the first post on the first page, are most accurate display of the real color as they were taken in daylight. No blue to my sore eyes.

Nice thought, blue... Or clear bulletproof glass, burgundy FRN, white Micarta, brass or something else. Imagine the possibilities. Oh boy.

It didn't arrive today, but there is always tomorrow :)
