Missing Halo

I was sending an inexpensive item to a family member. I asked about confirmation/tracking because I'm accustomed to it. I'm also used to getting both with insurance when shipping online. When I was told by a disgruntled postal employee that I could not get them I sent it anyway because she informed me that I could look at another # on the receipt and when delivered it would be noted on USPS site. I figured if I did not know every step of it's trip it would not matter in this case.
I added my earlier comment because I have dealt with Os... and all went smoothly. Maybe hes a thief...maybe not. You judge him based on the facts presented and the witnesses giving their testimony. If there is one good feedback amongst so many bad ones it should not affect the verdict of this court.
You assumed I was an idiot for sending some expensive item with 0 protection. I'll assume your an idiot for assuming I was one.

So for you every Postal employee is disgruntled, weird and/or dishonest?

For most of us we utilize the UNITED STATES Postal Service, an imperfect system with a few weird, disgruntled and dishonest employees BUT overall 99% are happy, normal and honest.

Where do you mail from Libya?

Let's all take a step back, and not start black-listing each other for no reason. :D

No doubt.
Some of you guys are just looking for the next guy to slam. As far as postal workers maybe I was a little harsh. After much thought thought I'd say 75% are disgruntled and weird. I'll try and tip toe around the forum in the future.

By the way it makes me look bad when two members say they will never buy anything from me based on one post I made especially in this GBU thread.
Seems like the first post after mine should have been something like

"So you sent it with no Protection?"
Far be it from me to make any comments that would suggest any wrongdoing
here. I won't comment on this anymore . As a matter of fact I won't comment on anything anymore.

steve_ob968 any word on your refund?

This thread is about steve_ob968 not receiving the knife he paid for.

You’ve contributed nothing to the thread and seem bent on taking it far off track. Your conspiracy theories, condemnation of the USPS and just plain lunacy are out of place.

It doesn’t reflect well on you and just verifies my original comment on your post.

Maybe some of us are just real tired of rip-off artists and shady businessmen and want to do our best to help flush them out.

Did you stop and consider that maybe some of the people on this forum are USPS employees or relatives or friends? Given that USPS seems to be the preffered shipping method for most of us, perhaps a large number would disagree with your assesment that 75% of their employees are disgruntled and wierd? After all, why would we use USPS if we thought their employees were disgruntled wierdos. I'm at the post office at least every other day, shipping out lost and found items, and I've found all the employees to be warm, friendly, and helpful. No one said to tip-toe around but when you make a stupid comment, expect to be called out on it.

Leaving out a key piece of information in your comment to try and compare your own experience with that discussed in this thread is your own fault. If you didn't want to be seen in a negative light, you should have explained yourself a little better.

Seems like the first post after mine should have been something like

"So you sent it with no Protection?"

Seems like "Low-value item that didn't really require insurance or DC" should have been included somewhere in your post in the first place.
Far be it from me to make any comments that would suggest any wrongdoing

If I had a dollar for every time someone threatened to pack up their pail and shovel and go play somewhere else...

So in conclusion, you still have contributed nothing to this thread. Can we get back to the original issue?
Steve: Any word on your knife or money?

You assumed I was an idiot for sending some expensive item with 0 protection.

No, not because of that...; because of this:

All the employees at the post office are angry or just weird.

Some of you guys are just looking for the next guy to slam.

Well while I do like a good game of whac-a-mole, the mole has to stick his head up--you did with the above.

By the way it makes me look bad when two members say they will never buy anything from me based on one post I made especially in this GBU thread.

No, you made yourself look bad.

I'll try and tip toe around the forum in the future.
Probably a good plan if you are going to make asinine statements then expect no negative feedback.

As a matter of fact I won't comment on anything anymore.

Where's that automatic betting pool function when you need it?

I do hope steve_ob968 recieves his money or HALO soon and thank you and those who made the kind words to the USPS workers. I am a Rural Carrier and myself and the 12 other Carriers and 1/2 dozen Clerks are hard working committed individuals who are proud to serve our community. We are not weirdos, disgruntled or thieves. We're just folks trying to do our jobs. Sorry for the rant and again I do hope steve_ob968 gets this resolved.

Thanks for chiming in, it's good to hear from an actual USPS employee. Keep up the good work!

I ragged on you Hunterdan because you knocked all Postal employees.

There are some bad apples but to paint all with such a broad brush is wrong.

save that brush for policemen!!!:D:p:D

Sure the postal employees are mostly honest. I've had one knife turn up missing in years. And who knows if it was stolen or not.

In all of my transactions I had one knife come up missing. A custom Krein Dogfish. Turned out that the Saturday worker in our little PO put it in the box above mine. It took that person a week to realize that this unknown package was sitting on her desk. It all got worked out.

I can make an offer of what ever i want just like you self does not mean you have to take it. it was an incomplete knife and i thought 200 was fare every one has there own opinion. but i do go digging around in all your threads and posting all of your opinions.

Is your reputation really only worth 300.00 dollars to you? Think about it. I'm not sure if you may have done so already, but I'd hustle down to the post office you sent this from and talk to the Postmaster to see if your package may have been snagged by the system- weight, incorrect postage, whatever. It's worth checking out. I just mailed out 44 knives for a buddy of mine on another forum and had a couple snags from the USPS. But it was resolved. But to be honest, had the knives been lost, my check book would've come out of the desk to make it right for the people who paid. Plain and simple- stand up

I can see your reputation as a seller blowing down the street in tatters Osu8233.

If there's something I'm missing here I hope you'll fill me in. Not gonna hold my breath though.

And to cap it all off you're still looking to be part of the B/S/T community here and have someone sell you a knife that retails for $700. Is that why you needed to shave some bucks off the Halo refund at first?

That's some bloody nerve.

Not really sure what else I can do here. I apologize to everyone that this transaction has upset. As people have seen I am new to the site and I thought that the buyer had to ask for insurance if they wanted it. I understand all the rules now and if it's not insured it's my loss. It was never my intention to not follow the rules. The problem we have now is that once this thread got out of hand I was never given a chance to simply refund steve his money before he made a claim and paypal took 300.00 out of my account. Paypal is now reviewing the case and if for some reason they refund my 300.00 witch I do not think they will based on there buyer protection I will still refund the 300.00 case closed like I said be for I hope paypal is fast and like some one said inapropritly hopfully I get kick off the site fast.

Just a side note everyone in this thread was very quick to judge and the issue at had was the refund of 300.00 that soon turned into me not shipping any thing at all and then I was all of asudden a dealer. I admit I made a mistake and did not understand the rules and that cauased me not to protect my self with insurance and I own that and I have made it right. I feel I could have handled the situation better. But for the majority of the people that replied to this theard have to agree maybe they could have handled their comments to a new paying member a little better. When I read over the site before I joined I would have never paid my 25.00 if it said any where that when you make your first mistake or have your first issue people are going to not sell to you or not buy from you and basically treat you with total disrespect. I know that I have not sold much and I have bought a few but I dont have anyone else saying that there experience with me was criminal let alone negative. Right now I really hope every one can move on from my mistake and we can all get along and do what we are here to do and that is collect great knives I think we can all agree on that.

Osu8233, nobody said you never sent anything. I said you didn't get any delivery conformation, so you had NO PROOF anything was ever sent.

If you sell and buy on eBay, you know you need DC at least, to ensure PROOF the item was delivered. eBay also requires the seller to be responsible, for delivery. Insurance is for the protection of the seller, not the buyer. It's exactly the same there as it is here. You mail a bought item off, it never shows up, the seller makes the insurance claim and collects the money. Not the buyer. If the seller didn't buy insurance, he's still responsible for paying the buyer for the lost item. Here and on eBay, I just figured if you sell on eBay very much at all you should have known this going into selling on here. I never said you didn't send the knife, just you failed to purchase delivery conformation and therefore had no proof, it was ever mailed in the first place and that's not protecting yourself at all. (or it wasn't scanned and didn't ever work, which is just as bad) Good luck and I hope this works out for both of you, in the end.

I wasn't insulting you. I said you seem like a dealer, by your own words. That's not a problem. Pro-rate your membership, and its fine.

Dude you're still playing the victim.

Contact PayPal and ask them to give steve_ob968 the refund.

This isn't out of your hands- you've washed your hands of it. You've claimed numerous times you would refund steve_ob968 his money and you haven't.

I was never given a chance to simply refund steve his money
You had plenty of time and opportunity to make the refund and you chose Not To.

Based on the facts I have to call it like I see it.

+1
Steve's the one who's out the $300 at this point, the only thing you've lost so far is respect.
You aren't the victim here. The fact that you didn't familiarize yourself with the rules is no one's fault but your own. All the talk about feeding your family etc. followed by a WTB thread didn't help you any either. If anything, I'd say you're a victim of your own poor decision-making.
You should definitely contact payPal and do everything in your power to get your buyer back his money quickly if you hope to sell anything here in the future.

I made a mistake I take full ownership of it and I wish I would have handled the problem in a different way. It is my loss I should have protected myself.

As for the 300.00 I have not washed my hands of it paypal took the 300.00 the day steve escalated the concern. I have been on the site like 5 times a day and no change. Paypal told me since it was escalated it has to run it's course. Like I said before if for some strange reason paypal ends the claim and does not give steve his money. I assume paypal will give me the 300.00 back and I will give it to him. I can only work with in the paypal system
