We all await steve_ob968’s post indicating this is resolved to his satisfaction.

In the future it is best to:
1) Insure everything you’re not willing to replace out of pocket.
2) Include Delivery Confirmation on items below $200.
3) Include Signature Confirmation on anything insured above $200.

I think on the PayPal / Print Shipping Label and USPS Click’n Ship web page it states you have to bring in any item insured for more than $250 to be received. This verifies receipt of the item.

I personally don’t want to take any risks and use Signature Confirmation on anything above around $150.

And I always ship the item insured unless it’s worth less than $50 and I’m willing to pay the Buyer outright if it doesn’t arrive.

I do that a lot, too. If the knife is worth $50 or so, I won't insure it to save myself a little money on the sale. But, I'm always ready to eat that $50 if the buyer doesn't get his package. On a $300 knife... I always use insurance. :D

ETA: It sort of sounds like Osu8233 needs a dealers membership. He says he's only been here a month, so he "only" has 5 sales, but a ton on ebay. Also, he refers to this forums as "for buyers" and how we don't understand "sellers" like him. If you consider yourself a "seller"... isn't that what we call "dealer"?

At this point none of this concerns you so any more posts from you will be considered harassment and I will take the steps necessary to have you removed.

If I find out you are a dealer I will take the necessary steps to remove you myself. Your current selling history has me suspicious.

Remember, if....

...you buy knives with the express purpose to turn around and resell them at a profit, on a regular basis, then you just might be a dealer.

... you buy knives at wholesale, then turn around and sell them at just below retail, then you just might be a dealer.

... you have a store, or a certificate of resale, and are selling here as a Gold Member, then you just might be a dealer.

I just escalated this to a claim with Paypal.
As of 1:57 P.M. MST, seller emailed me and said he would not have anymore contact with me or this thread and let Paypal figure this thing out.
As far as I know, paypay has not taken $300 out of his account or froze it.

I suggest adding a fourth "best to":
4) Avoid osu8233 as he has been extremely reluctant to accept responsibility for his part in this deal. Not only was he initially unwilling to reimburse the buyer, he seems to have gone back and forth on whether he would/did through payal. Enough inconsistency in this guy's response to warrant caution in my book.
all da best,
rats...

I bought a knife from os... and it arrived in a timely manner.Communication was good...
It's possible that the knife is now owned by the Postmaster. All the employees at the post office are angry or just weird. A while back my wife asked one of the long-term postal workers if they would actually pick up packages from the house mailed via priority online. He said no that service was not available. My wife went online anyway, went through the online mailing steps and they picked it up the next day. I have mailed many items over the years and have heard many different answers regarding shipping rules at USPS. I sent a package in person yesterday VIA priority. I was told I could not purchase tracking, return receipt or delivery confirmation. Anyway,I'd say the postmaster has it or it was confiscated by USPS for being an auto knife.

I suppose it's possible the Postmaster stole it. But, how would they know what was in it? Do they just randomly steal packages all the time? Complaints don't start to stack up and Postal Inspectors don't ask questions? Also, if it was confiscated, there would be some sort of notice sent out. They don't just take illegal packages and just pretend it disappeared.

I think I will avoid purchasing anything from osu8233 in the future, both here and on Ebay, there is something that doesn't ring true about his comments and his attitude stinks. An offer of a $150 refund for a $300 knife is just insulting.

And he also tried to play the "don't put in a PayPal claim, I have to feed my wife and kids" line which I dislike. I hope the OP manages to recover their money via PayPal.

Sounds like something is screwy at your post office.

Postal workers DO steal packages, but it is VERY RARE. Huge risk of going to federal prison and losing a well paying government job with benefits. It did happen to me though -- once. Far more likely to have your package stolen by UPS -- they have a bad reputation for that.

If it was confiscated, he certainly would've been notified.

Hunterdan Thanks for posting you've saved me the risk of ever doing business with you.

Thanks for contributing to this thread?

Could you explain your comment?
I think anyone could.

I sent a package in person yesterday VIA priority. I was told I could not purchase tracking, return receipt or delivery confirmation.
You were told you couldn't buy insurance or confirmation but shipped a package that presumably should have had both anyway. I wouldn't do business with you either.

As for contributing, all you did was defend the seller with vague speculation and your own limited experience with buying from him. I say limited because you received your knife and didn't have to deal with trying to get a refund or a missing knife.

I was sending an inexpensive item to a family member. I asked about confirmation/tracking because I'm accustomed to it. I'm also used to getting both with insurance when shipping online. When I was told by a disgruntled postal employee that I could not get them I sent it anyway because she informed me that I could look at another # on the receipt and when delivered it would be noted on USPS site. I figured if I did not know every step of it's trip it would not matter in this case.
I added my earlier comment because I have dealt with Os... and all went smoothly. Maybe hes a thief...maybe not. You judge him based on the facts presented and the witnesses giving their testimony. If there is one good feedback amongst so many bad ones it should not affect the verdict of this court.
You assumed I was an idiot for sending some expensive item with 0 protection. I'll assume your an idiot for assuming I was one.

As I understand the way things work here at Bladeforums, it is the shippers responsibility to ensure that the receiver gets what they have paid/traded for. Osu8233 chose not to insure his package, his right to do so, but it is also his responsibility to ensure the package arrives or refund the money. Personally, I don't buy insurance - but it will be me out the cash or product if it doesn't arrive. The problem with insurance is that the value of the contents is there for all who handle the package to see. No insurance means no value and no one is tempted. I ship probably about 30 packages a year worth $80+++ and haven't had any go missing. Should one go missing, my "insurance" fund has dozens of saved premiums in it and I will still be moneys ahead. Insurance providers exist to make money for themselves and rates are based on them taking money out of the insured's pocket. That is my take, but of course the point of this particular ramble is that Osu8233 owes some money.

So basically, because the item was inexpensive and didn't really need insurance or DC, you have absolutely no relevant point and therefore contributed nothing. I didn't assume you were an idiot, irresponsible at worst. But maybe I should assume you are an idiot for assuming that I assumed you were an idiot.

Do you see what's going on here? Hint: It has to do with contributing to the thread.
