Mora Sweden

They are amazing knives...too bad all the laminated models but the #1 were discontinued. Nice catch!

Do they still do the laminated carving knives? I have one of these that has been on my workbench for years. For the price the quality of the steel is really remarkable.

I still see some on the bay and checking the Mora site, yes 4-5 of the woodcrafting knives are still laminated. I was thinking of the Classic Laminated Series knives like the #2, the 137 and the 2/0. The 137 was renamed the Morakniv Original 1 and went up about $25-$30.

That increase is the amount I paid for mine a couple of weeks ago.

Also, you can still get a new Mora Original Classic #1 Laminated on line for $34. Most other places they are about $40-$45. Prices came down.

 That was a good buy!

The last new birchwood handled Mora I bought was listed as an "No 1 Classic Original" but turned out to be a discontinued laminated #2 with the 4 1/8" blade. I was a happy camper for $25. It's an earlier Morakniv edition as it still has the wider blade of the old Frosts Classics. See the difference?

Earlier top, 2013 model bottom....

Here is a 90's era Frosts (top) with the wide blade for comparison...

The sizes below it are #1, #1.0 and #2.0.

And finally a 60's era Frosts with an even wider blade (and a repainted handle from the previous owner)...

Good stuff here guys! I think I'll be glade I tried one! This post and few others have been most helpful!

Lovely. Do you take orders? :)

Not yet, but the thought has crossed my mind. They take me so long to complete in my limited spare time that I think I would have to charge astronomical prices to make it worthwhile!!! I doubt anyone would be willing to pay $200 for a custom Mora, and even at that price, I would only make about $20/hour.
