My experience with Liu Kang

Do I think the OP was screwed? Yes, very slightly. Were these shady/"grey area" business practices? Yes. Should the OP have had the difference refunded? Probably if Liu Kang's first objective is to satisfy his customers.

On the flip side I also think that Liu Kang is very much under the microscope and is highly scrutinized (much more than other dealers) for his shady history on the forums. Perhaps unfairly so? I think if LK is on the path to make amends with BF members, this isn't the way to do it, but I also think this is a pretty minor issue. A dealer/seller who pinches EVERY penny out of transaction in what is arguably an unethical manner is something that is nice to know about, but I don't think this little story will prevent me from buying from LK (it's mostly my wallet that prevents that :) ). Just my .02.

You bought a $700 dollar knife and you're pissed about a $13 dollar difference in shipping fees? Sorry, I've sold a ton of stuff over the internet (mostly music gear) and have never quoted exact shipping rates, especially with private sales. Have you had to stand in line at the post office lately? My time is worth more than the wait (which can be upwards of 30 minutes depending on how busy your local office is).

The guy took a risk sending you the knife without insurance, and that risk could have meant for a full refund had they lost it or damaged it. However, there was no damage to the knife. That being the case, this is not worth posting emails back and forth and stirring up a bunch of animosity over something that didn't result in any real damages. I think we can all walk away from this and have the moderator delete it. This kind of thread is an eyesore on a forum.

Guess you are unfamiliar with the concept of "principle" and what it says about the character and integrity of a dealer.

I really regret trying to help you recover those funds on that knife you got ripped off on prior to this ordeal.

Seriously, this isn't an "ordeal." I've been around forums where trading and buying are prevalent long enough to know this was a problem averted. Real problems involve people not sending items at all, ignoring emails, screwing lists of people who paid up front for products not yet made. This, my friend, was a walk in the park. You have a beautiful Busse blade, walk away without all the mess and enjoy your knife.

I would like to think I'm familiar with the concept of grace and forgiveness, especially in light of the fact that the dude has his knife and it's in fine shape.

Cost of knife: $700
Amount paid for insurance and pocketed by the seller: $11
Value of the knowledge that the seller is unethical: Priceless.....

Yeah, you got the knife and only lost $11....Look at what the seller lost....I think you are way ahead....

Someone once told me that a deal wasn't complete until both parties are happy, I wasn't happy and wanted to reverse the entire transaction, HE REFUSED!

you still haven't explained why you simply didn't refund him the money he paid you to insure the item. Isn't that the obvious solution? Cancelling the entire transaction over $11 seems rather, well, retarded.....

Sure I did, you just didn't read it, page 5 post #90

Lee King just send Deric a $12 refund for the insurance that you never put on the poorly packaged knife that you shipped him! DONE! And hopefully people will think twice about doing biz with Lui Kuang!!

And moderators how come Lee King doesnt get an infraction for advertising stuff he has for sale on a thread that has nothing to do with his sale!!??

Um, because it's his signature. And please ease up on the super-sized bold font. :)

Yeah, I read it....clearly you have a warped sense of what constitutes ethical behavior. Some people put a rather low price on their reputation. Now we know what yours was worth, $11.

I believe him when he said he would pay for the knife if anything happened. He was in fact insuring the knife himself - and he would probably deal with the situation a lot faster than the Post Office if the knife was lost in transit. Look at what he sells....pretty high end stuff....so his reputation is in fact valuable to him. He has high prices for sure, but I believe he takes care of his customers. The knife was received in said condition. No harm, no foul.

Pay the $11 back, now. This thread is putting a "dont buy from Liu Kang" sign out there that you don't need. Also, its the right thing to do.

This coming from a person with NO feedback, that's awesome! While you are at it, why don't you go teach Jerry how to grind...

Too simple and it wouldn't work. Eric opened this thread back up to try to make things look better. (( rules violation )) This has nothing to do with $11... He doesn't care about the money, he is trying to prove a point
