My experience with Liu Kang

Joking "Fatality!" posts aside, here are my two cents...

Regarding the original transaction/issue, dericdesmond should have been refunded the $11 difference for the USPS insurance he paid for (but which Liu Kang forgot to include). Offering to refund/reverse the entire transaction for the knife was a strange response, since as dericdesmond has stated many times he was perfectly happy with the knife he had paid for and received. What he wasn't happy with was a service (shipping carrier insurance) that he paid for but didn't receive, and the natural thing to do would be to provide a refund for that.

Having said that, I'm not sure why this thread was reopened nearly 1.5 years after it was posted. Liu Kang has suggested that it's in connection to some other dispute unrelated to this one and, it seems, on an entirely different forum. If this is the case, would someone -- whether one of the principals or someone else -- mind filling us in on what's happening? If the reason this thread was resurrected was a dispute on another forum rather than something on this forum, then given BladeForums' policy against cross-forum drama/disputes/etc., perhaps it should be locked up again.

Show you a thread where you said you take paypal? You've edited and moved so many of your threads around since stopping taking paypal, but if you look deep enough you can find them. I've got a bunch of screen shots and links if you'd like.

Did you ever think of asking the person that started the thread why he refused to un-do the transaction and why he re-opened this thread? Maybe you don't know the whole story...
Story? Wth are you talking about? The feedback forum is to let others know of past experiences with fellow BF members, good and bad. Everything I post is the truth, its not a conspiracy. And I didnt return it because I wanted the knife. THough I wanted the $ that was rightfully mine I wasnt going to let it keep me from owning the knife. The $ was never truly the issue, the issue was your unwillingness to do what was right. For me to retrun it would of inconvenienced me & cost you even more then $11, why would you put someone though that when you admit wrong?

And to be completely honest, This smart arss comment is what lead me to opening it back up.
I just wanted to thank everyone for pointing out this thread, I messaged CHRIS1972 to find out what I had sold him and did a follow up with him and while we were at it, I sold him another knife. So thanks to everyone!

Glad I saw this thread. I am new here but have bought ten knives since I arrived. I'll never buy a knife from this dealer. Someone who gouges you every step of the way, cuts corners to save a couple bucks, and then rationalizes why he won't give back fees for services not delivered is an all around bad guy.

Anyone who has read this thread and actually believes that the self-insuring Liu Kang would actually make good on $700 worth of lost knife without making a federal case out of it needs their head examined. Look how hard he is fighting to keep his +1% PayPal surcharge and $11 non-insurance charge. Pitiful.

Thanks dericdesmond for the info. Thanks Liu Kang for telling me who you are through your own words.

Very well said. Sums up my feelings, too.

Aside from the whole flipping thing with the massive markup, paypal fee's etc., This is what stuck in my craw.

I'm not a dealer and don't work for one

And

I worked for a dealer He should have been banned after this post.

I am a dealer now

Post 18
I am an authorized dealer for XX

He's a liar. Spark asked him flat out if he was a dealer or worked for a dealer. He said no but future posts tell the truth. He has zero integrity.

He is here because he stumbled upon the Busse Exchange as saw the opportunity to make a lot of money (under the guise of being a Busse fan

When I received my "new" knife from Liu Kang it had a damaged (melted grip) from someone buffing one side of the blade.
He had multiples of this knife in the same listing he choose to send the used one to me.
When contacted he was very quick to respond to my message, telling me to contact Scrapyard Knives and send it to them because it will be covered by their lifetime warranty.
This response from Dan was so lame I put the deal down to experience and moved on.
The response I was expecting was,"sorry about that, send the knife back to me and I'll get a new knife in the post straight away".
Yes I paid him using the PP gift option (something I have only done a few times on BF).
The postage charge was $15US, but the actual postage charge was $5US.
Just sharing my experience with Liu Kang.

I think it's clear he will tell you whatever he thinks you want to hear. I think the problem is many of whether we know one or other come together because of our shared interest in knives. This guy is like a used car dealer wading through a bunch of enthusiasts. Just my opinion for whatever it is worth.

Well, except for things like "I'll cover the PayPal fees" and "don't worry, there's no extra charge for that"...

I am quite confused as to why he is allowed to conduct unethical business on this "community" based forum.

Liu it probably means nothing to you, clearly not much does. I was actually looking into a thread of yours to buy a higher priced knife, up until I saw the way you were handling this. I would not make a purchase from you after seeing the logic you've been using if you can even call it that. The principle here should be the most important thing. As someone with 470+ feedback in a situation like this you should have bit the bullet and sent back the $11. When it comes down to it:
Was the knife delivered? Yes.
Was it Damaged? No.
Did you package it in a poor manner? Yes.
And finally, Was a service paid for that was NOT provided? Yes. Bottom line, end of story.
Im sure that you would want your money back if you paid for something not received.

No policy has been broken. WHen my sanity was confirmed by the majority of posters in part 1 I took pity upon him and decided to close it. After reading several of his recent posts, I decided to hell with him so now your able to post. He says there is more to the story, well he is wrong. Ive explained my motive on several occasions and welcomed him to shed more light on the "story" believe me or believe him, your call. He may have something in his mind he thinks adds some sort of substance to his claim, but I assure you it has absolutely nothing to do with this. Trust me, Ive got other gripes about his practices, but they have NOTHING to do with this thread.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I hope it didn't come across like I was accusing you of breaking the policy: I, as well as a lot of other people, were just genuinely confused about what was going on after LK's repeated assertions that there was "more to the story" of why the thread was reopened. (His allusion to "the Cove" in one post also suggested that there might be some sort of cross-forum thing involving USN.)

I hope it's clear from my two previous posts, as well as the fact that I've chosen never to have any sort of dealings with him, what my opinion of LK, his business practices, and the value of his word is. This thread, not to mention the debacle in the "dealer" thread someone linked to earlier, has shown him to be someone who is pathologically unable to admit he is ever in the wrong and will resort to convoluted, misleading, and even downright false statements to try to extricate himself from whatever situation his choices and practices have placed him in.

All of this is a roundabout way of saying that I believe you regarding your reasons for reopening the thread (and, by extension, that there isn't "more to the story" as LK is trying to claim). :)

I think it is crystal clear to all who have read the replies both what the right thing to do is and what a dirt bag this dealer is. The word is now out...as always, buyer beware....

I think there's enough word out there about this dealer and his poor practices that I'm surprised ANYONE does business with him anymore. I know that when I see his name attached to a Busse sales offer on the BF Exchange, I pass it by, no matter HOW desperately I want a particular model. 'Nuff said.
