New Forum software thread. . .

Definate downer for me is the all white background. Its too bright for extended reading. I like the contrast with the black text but maybe there is a way to soften it some.
 
Maybe I could but there are three issues at play here:

1) Kevin asked for specifics as to what we don't like. This is one of those things I can specifically point to.

2) This isnt the only site I visit and my settings are fine for 99% of my browsing.

3) The majority of my browsing is done on my phone. Not on a monitor. I'll play around with it a bit though and see what I can do. Thanks for the suggestion.
 
Is there a color combination you prefer?

Not really, I just seem to find all the bright white somewhat harsh after a while. Maybe any softer grey or any pastel that might be a little more soothing to the eye??
 
I may be wrong but for some of us change sucks. I'm pushing 60 it took me 2 years to figure out the old format. Now not only do I have no clue how to navigate I have been working over 4 hrs and can't figure out how to post a photo. Spark I know how hard you must have worked doing this whole site. It is appreciated. Please put it back the way it was. Many of us here are not computer gurus,for us this is disaster.

Black on white: all right. Good clean contrast for aching old eyes. :)
Still can't find Report Post or warning/infraction cards.

There is a triangle at the bottom of your post. Its black not red (or were they yellow?) though like the ones we had on the old forum. Is that the report a post button now?

Not going to happen. While we've been trying to find where everything is now, Spark has been trying to make the new version work more like the one we're used to. That takes time. Be patient, please.

Soon most of what was confusing will be as natural as the previous version. Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome.
 
The report button is at the bottom of the post (to the right of "blog this post").

ETA: BP beat me to it.

Also, after checking the site on my computers and iPhone, I find the new color scheme to be softer on the eyes than the old one.

That's it all right. I scrolled over it and it said Report Post, and the cards next to it are my infraction cards.

Yup, little black triangle. I just tried it. . . I think you guys are right. It'll take a little time but eventually we'll get used to this.

I'll see what I can do. Try this: Go to your public profile (click on your name on one of these posts), and fiddle with the colors on there. See if you can find a color scheme that you are happy with. When you are done, notify me and I'll check it out. We'll see if we can get on the same page.

I'll address this in a future post / thread, but we really didn't have a choice - the old software was "End of Life" and the provider wasn't going to support it any longer. I'm going to do what I can to ease the transition for everybody but there IS going to be a transition and we'll all have to adapt. A blog is basically a web based diary, it's a contraction of web log. For knifemaker's like yourself, it open a ton of possibilities since you can create entries on knives you've made, your techniques or thoughts, experiences at shows or with materials, etc. It's another way to increase your business.

Bottom left of every post you should see the following: "Blog This Post", black versions of the infraction cards, and the report triangle
 
I like hard contrast black on white lettering. I wouldn't want to read a book with gray text on beige.

Now, for dislikes, when I do a search, I would like more contrast with a darker blue like it was before on thread titles, smaller symbols to the left of the thread title.

People's names need to be bigger, right now they are the same size as the title below.
 
I'm going to have to make a separate thread for User Interface improvements.

Rat, I'll probably wind up making a hard contrast style once all this is done.

Yes, Spark, I would prefer nice shades of Pirate Girl Pink and Purple, please. :p

For those of you complaining that you just want the old BF back, take a chill pill and give Spark time to tweak the new format. If you have some constructive comments to provide that will help Spark - please be as specific as possible.

Otherwise.... Shut The Front Door!!!
