New Information Needed on the 2016 Forum Knife!

Charlie, after seeing some of the pics, it has occurred to me that there are different thoughts on worm groove bone. I'm thinking of one of those worm groove bone knives that have either peachseed or Robeson jigging, but also have the worm grooves..... then there are some that are just worm groove like those S&Ms posted earlier.....

What kind are we talking?

Thank you, Charlie for volunteering/agreeing to do the forum knife again this year.

I'd like a long pull.
Carbon steel please.
And a well done worm groove would be great.

Is this an example that appeals to people?

Woodrow F Call, I'm positive we are NOT talking about the style used on the Schatt & Morgan File & Wire. That is why it requires an additional pass (and extra $$). The worm groove is made as a second pass on top like on the old knives from Robeson.

In for long pull, carbon and worm groove, if it's more like the older versions we're seeing. Put some character into it. :D

Another vote for a darker color.

Would it be feasible to do the main blade in stainless, and the punch in carbon? You almost never see it mixed like that. Is there a reason?

If it would work, I might change my vote to that.

It seems like the difference between good and mediocre worm groove jigging is much more noticible than the difference between good/bad regular or grizzly jigging. It would be great if we could see an example of what GEC is proposing before finalizing a decision.

Charlie,

I love the direction this is going.

Only question is on the worm grooves. I'm not too familiar with the term, and there seems to be quite the variaty. Is there any chance you could share some examples of what you and Bill were thinking?

Thanks

Jim

We are definitely NOT talking the S&M type. As others have mentioned we are talking Grooves that overlay other jigging. Some examples have been posted. I will post some when I can get to my pictures.

I could get behind that. The S&M kind is what I see the most, and frankly, it's terrible.

I'd vote yes to a long pull, probably a yes to worm groove (I've never seen any I love, but I'm confident it's out there), and no to carbon.

Honestly my biggest complaint about GEC Jigging is that it's too uniform, so yes, worm groove would be nice. I'm surprised they never offered winterbottom.

Many thanks for the clarification. Please turn my so-so feeling on the worm groove to a definite yes. I though we were talking about nothing but worm groove. So I am a yes! All the way around.
