not happy with this transaction

lots of gold and platinum members seem turned off by said business practices=less potential costumers.

You guys aren't giving credit where credit is due. This is obviously a well thought-out brilliantly planned strategy based on the successful business models of other abrasive, abusive, hairy he-man testosterone driven knife makers. As the plan develops the price will rise into the hundreds and even thousands of dollars and a whole fan-boy crew of keyboard commandos will form up to rise en mass to smite any unbelievers who question the grail. I see there is already one who has risen.

Brad Duncan comes to mind............................

and we can all see how well his business model works:D

hey guys

sorry i have not been able to responed to anything going on here since last night, life got in the way...lol.:D

The origianal reason I brought this matter to the gbu. was mstephens lack of communication in the transaction between the 2 of us. I did not expect this matter to go this far. For this I apoligise to the members of the bfc.

Mstephen: the origianal reason that i chose to deal with you as a knifemaker was that from the pictures i saw on the bfc and the other forum your knives looked to be a very good value for the money. When the knife finally arrived i waspleased to find that i was correct in my assessment. for the price i paid it is an extremely good knife. as a matter of fact it has become my fixed blade edc since its arrival. so the fact that you seem to think that i would not like your knife is incorrect
as a matter of fact i was originally thinking before this matter transpired of having you make me a couple of custom knives of my own design but do to the fact that you responded to this matter between us the way you did that will not happen in the future.

the fact that you have belittled and insulted the members of this forum in the manner that you have for simply giving thier outlooks and opinions on this matter has not only shown me who you really are but you have also shown the other members who you really are. I never set out to damage your reputation, but do to your responses, you have done a great job of that all on your own. perhaps you are unaware of the fact that alot of the members of the bfc also post on other forums and your actions that have taken place here in the last 2 days will follow you for a very long time.

i wish you the best of luck in your future endevors with your business, for after what has transpired here i think you are going to have a very long up hill battle with gaining anyones trust on these forums

to the members of the bfc who have posted and will further post to this thread...i thank you for your informative insights and opinions on this matter.

By guesstimation 90+ potential customers have been lost.

All it would have cost the knifemaker to prevent it would have been One Email, One Apology and an ounce or two each of Integrity, Humility, Civility and Respect.

When it comes down to it, Customers are NOT Sheep to be fleeced of their money, but partners in your Business Scheme. Which command at least a bit of Respect. The better you treat your customer or potential customer the better your business will be. Word of mouth is the best or worst advertisement there is.

Once you have received payment, from that moment on, you are now in possession of someone's property.

Sitting on their money and their property for 15 days without shipping or communicating as to why you haven't is completely inappropriate, especially when in that time you were online selling other knives.

He doesn't care. He's above all that. Besides, we're just sheep and what we think doesn't matter.

Well I for one have been looking around for a first hand made knife. Mstephen had been high on my list simply because his knives looked very good at around what I was willing to pay. I confess that I’m both happy and sad that I’ve read this thread. Cause despite his products being what I’ve been looking for he is now firmly OFF my list.

I am sure there are a bunch that will still buy from this Maker. I doubt they will chime in to tell us how they support and applaud this type of business practice. The same bunch who think it's OK to send a maker money and then hear nothing and have no problem with a maker for failing and/or refusing to maintain good communication

The same bunch that use the Hall of shame as their yellow pages!!!

i wonder if this thread should be put in the hall of shame due to the way the maker responded here so that it will stay at the top and save some ppl some grief in the future

in order to make the hall of shame he would have to have some really bad transactions or complete failures to deliver a product.

being a jerk, in and of itself, doesn't really qualify.

Tried, convicted and executed in 'The Court of Public Opinion' because of one complaint and a response no one seemed to like.......

Looks like you got much more than a knife, lee brooks. Sure hope you got your 'money's worth' now since you've pushed this thing to the very end.....make you feel better?

as usual haze ya are correct............

now i dont mean to be ugly to anyone, but with so many 'smiths who do excellent work who also go above and beyond with CS and when they do make a mistake fall all over themselves to apologise and make it right ya gotta make a helluva product to do any good in the knife 'biz if ya dont respect your customers, thats just the way it is.

i've seen alot of big name 'smiths make a small error or 2 in shipping or whatever and be quick to post an apology to the customer and to make it right ASAP, when ya do that the problem usually goes away quickly with everyone happy, imho its just common sense to respond with civility any other response does nothing but make the 'smith look bad.

a simple explanation and perhaps an apology works wonders with most folks on BF, imho we are all faily quick to forgive & forget as long as someone is trying to show he is gonna do the right thing, or at least try his darndest to do the right thing.

just a thought...............

Mr Brooks

I think you made your point- and mstephen made his point.

I think to ask for this is overkill and not really appropriate in this case.

I think that over 2500 people have looked at this thread so far. Get it?

Have a nice weekend....

....careful Dawkind, I got a "warning" for posting an opposing view.:jerkit:

Are you looking to see if I'm serious here? Telling me I'm just jerking it isn't a great way to engage me in a friendly conversation. Any problems with moderation go to Service & Support. Any more problems with you continue down the Warning/Infraction route.

Tried? Yes.
Convicted? Possibly.
Executed? He pretty much Hung and then Immolated Himself.

No custmer that i know of would tolerate being called "sheep" and told even though you paid me promptly, you'll get your item if and when i feel like it. No One that i know of would do business in this manner, and expect to prosper.

This is pretty funny, you guys act like i owe you all an apology because you buy knives from other makers.
Where does that come from? The only person who asked for any redress was the OP, and he was just concerned after not hearing anything for three weeks. If you go into a McDonalds and order a hamburger and fries and they leave you at the counter for 15 minutes with nothing to eat are you pissed? If they tell you that the fries are almost cooked and will be a few minutes are you OK with that and wait?
I look through the ugly section and see guys having money stolen from them and your pissing and moaning about my communication skills.
Well, I wouldn't think that trashing other guys work is the way to garner any sympathy either, beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say. Maybe a knife is ugly to you, but the maker is timely in his shipping, and communicates well. That is called value added service.
I have seen your work, and it looks good, some members here have had good experiences with you, and would buy from you again. That is what you should try for in each transaction. Simply saying I AM SORRY shouldn't go against your grain that bad. Even though you think it was no big deal, the OP DID. He posted you responded, and knowing the internet, did you really expect any different reaction than that which you garnered?
Its just stupid.Im done here, enjoy your sewing circle ladies.
Sad on the face of it, your work looked good. There are members here who like you and your work. Why purposely remove yourself from a potential customer base?
I will quote Esav-"Remember the first rule of holes"
