OT: Fiddlebacks & Firearms

Awesome combo there Nathan; the Marlin is a fine plinker indeed -- and the runt surely could process anything "plinked" with it ;). Now, you've got me wondering if my BLJ could butcher quail... from a relative size aspect, the BLJ could be a formidable cleaver :D

After owning many handguns in my life, only these two remain. Both have proven themselves as 100% reliable after thousands of rounds.

Phil

Oh man how I wish I could play. Unfortunately I am separated from my firearms by over 8,500 miles! I'm definitely missing them, and this thread doesn't help lol. When I finally make it home I am going to have to post some shots, even if it means I have to necro the thread lol

Man, another GREAT post -- That 629 comp looks like a total beast and the Reeder Black Widow is just classic! Of note, I really dig your taste in knives; both the Duke and Leuku are exquisite and pair perfectly with the firearms shown!

Thanks for the kind words and for starting this great thread. The Duke was one of the first Fiddlebacks I got and remains my favorite so far. Here's a better shot of the Sako TRG 42 .338LM with a curly oak KE Bushie.

In today's installment of "as the EBR turns" (Part 3):

I appreciate the tone Phil set with the big bores. Here's a few of my own (sorry for the re-use of the Woodsman, it is the largest Fiddleback I own). I offer up a trio consisting of a .458 SOCOM, a Desert Eagle in .50AE, and said Woodsman

_DSC1616.JPG

For our EBR installment we have two beauties today.

First up "The pig" (also nicknamed by my wife) - A Noveske 7.5" 5.56 with KX3 fire breathing pig accompanied by a blueback BC wearing OD Micarta over natural with white pinstripes, SFT Tang, 1/8”

_DSC1630.JPG

and my personal defensive rifle - a 10.5" LMT with fixed front, T-1, Troy rear and an AAC M4-2000 (this barrel is about worn out and I will be switching the upper to an 11.5" BCM with a KSR soon). The rifle is accompanied by a a slate blue BC, 5/32" with a TT and the same sapphire Woodsman

_DSC1638.JPG

Last up today, and I cant believe I forgot to compliment xxwjtxx on his original post, is a favorite SIG of mine. I Love SIGs! So for xxwjtxx, a photo of my West German P220 in factory nickel, paired with a 1/8" TT BC wearing curly oak scales over blue and natural liners.

Please enjoy at your discretion...

Phil, that ruger is just plain gorgeous (and from the sound of it, reliable as a clock!); concurrently, you can't go wrong with compact glocks -- great capacity, small footprint; what's not to love?! Both sneakies are awesome and are great examples of the profile! Nice pics!!

Man, it keeps getting better & better!! The pig is just plain epic, the LMT is a grail rifle for me, and the west German 220 in nickel with the factory Nil grips is pure insanity! As others have stated, you sir have phenomenal taste in firearms! To give credit where it is due, the woodsman, arête and bushcrafter are all excellent examples of their designs

I've got a couple more to put up, but have to say that I'm in complete awe of these posts! Every one is outstanding. Unbelievable firearms and Fiddlebacks.

In today's installment of "as the EBR turns" (Part 4):

Well, not exactly evil black rifle.......but "Mean Green" and carbon fiber do go well with emerald Shadetree. 16" 3-gun rifle, PRi CF full length tube and a blueblack Nessmuk, 5/32" SFT with emerald Shadetree over black and white

_DSC1650.JPG

Next up we're back in black with a 12" piston driven LMT (at the request of xxwjtxx). To balance out the photo, the LMT is nestled gently between 2 suppressor hosts, a .45 H&K USP Tactical and a 9mm M&P Spec Ops and backed up by a stainless tuxedo BC - SFT on Fiddletextured 1/8” CPM 154

_DSC1658.JPG

Last up, a confusing photo of 5 firearms, yet no triggers or places to put bullets. Just the ability to not bother your neighbors and keep you from ruining your hearing while do something fun. Yet, lots of silly paperwork, rules, and .gov involved. Some poor folks' states say they can even have one at all! But I digress...accompanied by a most wonderful Nessmuk, stabilized and dyed California Buckeye burl over black g10 with a lime green g10 pinstripe, TT, 1/8” thick Fiddltextured 01

_DSC1663.JPG

Here are some shots of my Kimber .308 with a Toothpik. The knife in the last photo is a Patch.

J-Dog supervised the taking of these photos as always.

Phil

Beautiful knives Phil and some awesome wood on your Kimber.....too bad they don't make Shadetree gunstocks :p

OOPS.....i forgot to say that J-Dog is looking fine in this pic as well !

.....too bad they don't make Shadetree gunstocks :p

That thought has crossed my mind Peter. Maybe not a rifle stock, but if I still had a 1911, I would hit up one of the custom grip makers to make me some Shadetree grips. That would be sweet.

Phil

In the last installment of "as the EBR turns" for a while (Part 5):

I love standard length ARs. Don't get me wrong, but they are tools and have little variation with the exception of furniture. Basically, if you've seen one, you've seen them all. So let's not be boring and go with something a little more exotic on Friday afternoon.

First up - an FN SCAR Heavy accompanied by a Bushcrafter with Ironwood over black g10 with white pinstripes, very stout, SFT on 5/32” spalted 01 steel

_DSC1673.JPG

Sticking wit the Belgian rifles, an FN FAL paratrooper with a dyed curly maple on black g10 liners with a white g10 pinstripe Kephart, SFT, on 5/32” 01

_DSC1692.JPG

Hopping over the Austrian (kind of) side we have a black Steyr USR in 5.56 next to a Bushfinger with dyed black palm over black g10 and a lime green g10 pinstripe, TT, 1/8” Fiddltextured 01

_DSC1683.JPG

and for giggles, a Franchi SPAS12 with a Terrasaur (Maple Burl Scales over lime green and black liner, TT, 1/8” 01). I figure if it can handle raptors, it can handle the Terrasaur. Trust me, I had this long before the Jurassic Park craze... :D

_DSC1695.JPG

And that's it for me. I am totally out of Fiddlebacks to pair up with firearms and need to get back to the flea market and scrounge up some more. This has been a fun endeavor for me and I hoped you all enjoyed it as well. I will leave you with what I assume would be an awesome carry combo. My 9mm Smith and Wesson M&P Shield and its little buddy...

Dude -- what an EPIC pair; where do I start -- Kimber .308; what a total beast.. and the Toothpik, well I honestly forgot that you had it! Shadetree grips? SIGN ME UP!!!! Seriously; if the phenolics can be cut on a 3D printer, I might just look into it ;)... By the way, glad to see that J-Dog is keeping things running smoothly. Great post Phil

Dude... why did you have to post the SCAR? You had to post the SCAR. You know, I've been eyeing one at the local black rifle depot for a while and have been adamantly exercising great self control; assuring myself that the last thing that I needed right now was some of FN Herstal's finest 7.62 hardware.. I was doing a great job until I saw this post. Its kinda like that scene from Wayne's World, you know the one "..Oh yes, one day she will be mine". Yep. Well back to the gun store I go tomorrow.:emot-yarr:

Oh yeah, and the FAL, USR, and SPAS and shield (perfect pocket gun BTW).. don't get me started -- way to close out a series of EPIC posts.

Great taste in arms -- check
Great taste in knives -- check

Seriously, thanks for participating

I have three things to say:

Will, you're evil for starting this thread.

Phil, I'm going to kidnap J-Dog one of these days.

M4, amazing.

Here are my default hog hunting combos. A Noveske 6.8 12.5" with Leupold 1.5-5 illuminated, AAC 762SDN6, and curly oak KE Bushie. Second is a Marlin 1895 45-70 with OD Sneaky Pete.

Those are great combos. I don't shoot my guide gun as much as I should. I need to get to the range! What loads are you using through the 6.8?
