Paypal friends and family and does paypal cover knives if lost or scammed

First off, if a scammer accepts PayPal goods and services then they are an idiot or really good hacker. PayPal had a proven history of refunding and protecting buyers here on this forum. Use the search function. The buyer would be refunded and PayPal would deal with the scammer. That's how that works.

So even in your own example you failed to understand the buyer HAS NOT BEEN SCAMMED lol

Your railing for friends and family is what's comical along with your lack of understanding how PayPal works.

Now if PayPal changes to not cover knives as they always have, it's time to find another avenue.

Calm down and work on your reading comprehension.
Really? If PP will not cover the buyer, he has been scammed. So we will see what happens. I hope he isn’t scammed. I hate scammers.

And talk about reading comprehension. I am not “railing” for friends and family. I never said I only use it. I’m railing for common sense and not being a gullible, easily scammed person on the internet.

And once again, if you think I don’t know how PP works.. well, that’s comical.

Just because you sent someone money as a gift and they didn't scam you doesn't mean it's safe... I can't believe I have to tell you this.

I would like to believe most people are good but as we all know bad people are plentiful as well. And they will take your money and send you the middle finger.

That's it, I've had it with PayPal. From now on, I'm only accepting cash and personally delivering the knife to your house with a delicious fruit basket and champagne 🍾

It would be a shame if flea bay was the only place to sell knives with any insurance… the place where people with buyer’s remorse ask for a return, and if you say no they can click “item doesn’t match description”, and if they really want to be an asshole they find someway to scratch the blade up before they send it back. Yes that has happened a few times.

Yea really. The scenario of a buyer not receiving the product they paid for is EXACTLY what PayPal protects against. Literally.

Time and time again.

It’s sort of like saying you don’t need a seatbelt and airbags because you’ve never been in a car wreck.

You can't expect everyone to share their magical abilities with you simply because you ask...

NOT if they say it’s an item they won’t cover. We have already covered this and you know it. Go back to the link I posted on page 1 from this very forum where numerous members were claiming PP told them they are SOL.. or, do you only believe the stories that support your beliefs on PayPal?

As far as I know, I’m the only person who posted a “real life” story of a g/s scam, which was in response to you. A buyer can file a charge back, claiming whatever they want, and the seller may be screwed. MAY. We weren’t, luckily. But it was also clothes. Point is, it can happen without eBay.

It’s all in how you word the claim. If you go in the claim and say it’s a switchblade super killer hellhound death dealer katana? Yeah they’ll shut it down.

You call it a camping tool? Good to go.

Any real world proof this works? Hypothetical: You sell a $1000 Fixed blade. Buyer claims they don’t get it. File a claim. Uh, ya it’s my $1000 camping tool. You think for a split second they won’t want some type of proof? I can tell you from my real world case, we had to submit all kinds of evidence. Would have been pretty damn hard to fake it.

That thread has conflicting reports and was from 2019. I am almost certain that there have been issues brought up here since then where PayPal did indeed cover folks over a knife transaction.

No, but it’s my story and I’m sticking to it if it happens to me. You think PayPal has time to research what an OTF knife someone called a camping tool is? These people probably deal with thousands of claims a day.

I’ve had transactions held up for key words before, and “camping tool” worked like a charm. You tried it?

no, because I’ve never had to lie to them for a claim. How much was your camping tool? You think they’ll just roll over and take your word for it because they’re busy?

But that isn’t the point. My point is that you can pay using methods other than G/S and NOT get scammed. It sounds obvious, but many people here act like a F/F is an automatic scam. And G/S, you’re safe.. good to go.. which isn’t true.

That was one representative and it goes against all the successful protection that has been provided here for years. Obviously if you read this thread you'd know we're discussing alternatives should PayPal make it policy to not cover any knives.

As of right now, there isn't a single case on bladeforums of a member being scammed through goods and services and being denied.

Nevertheless, times are changing and we're discussing all options. Sending money as a damn gift isn't an option for me.
