Quoted for prosperity, I added the bold section, so as to not allow you to say that this was not about your selling a counterfeit knife. His insistence and constant emails is what started to bother me as he was suggesting that I knew about it [being a counterfeit knife]. Which I didn't, otherwise I would have just attempted to sell it on eBay, which could have easily been done.
Yes, I saw this post. He is welcome to file any claim until after he gets confirmation that it is fake. I purchased this off a fellow member on this forum, as I told him. Had the knife for awhile and then re-sold it here. In addition to selling a few others and buying quite a bit more than I have sold. I let him know that it was sold to me as an authentic and I sold it as I bought it. It was his discretion to investigate it further. I only said as much as pretty much anyone on these forums can.
His insistence and constant emails is what started to bother me as he was suggesting that I knew about it. Which I didn't, otherwise I would have just attempted to sell it on eBay, which could have easily been done. And as I mentioned, I buy on here more than I sell, as you can see from my positive transactions; including trading with other members. You are welcome to think what you want. It is your prerogative as a an individual. And he is also welcome to file a claim. But next time; hopefully this individual first gets definite proof by sending the knife to the manufacturer before he starts throwing out stupid claims.
Well, there is good and bad to this.Very much appreciated! And there is an update to this already, the seller has offered to return $115 to me and has offered to have me keep the knife. I feel that this may be satisfactory, as the custom hardware on the knife is worth it to me, the difference split here, plus this counterfeit will be off the market here and off of eBay. What are your opinions on this?
You make excellent points, and to be honest, this sort of behavior he's exhibited should be shunned in our community. In his offer, he said $115 refund, which means the scale, hardware, and fake knife are mine for $105. The hardware and scale I will keep, the clone can meet my bench grinder at our shop. It'll never see the light of day again. I DETEST scammers because when I first started collecting I didn't know much and I was sold a fake strider on eBay, out more than in this situation. It was made right, but after alot of hassle. I feel this offer he has made is fair, the scale and hardware make up the difference and will be used on another in my collection, and the clone will not be used to scam again. However, I am pretty pissed and bummed it had to come to this, it was all sorts of shady before PayPal had to be involved.Well, there is good and bad to this.
The good part is that since he did sell you something (the hardware, attached to a counterfeit item), you can leave a negative feedback. On top of that, everything that you had to go through means that a negative feedback is warranted.
The bad is that he is trying to avoid having a PayPal judgement against him.
More bad means that to have the judgement against him means sending the knife back and him scamming someone else via Ebay...
-----
We do not know which will hit him harder.
The strike against him via PayPal could be his last strike, and he could potentially be stricken from their services, which he is looking to avoid.
Or he may just be looking to off load the knife easy, cut his losses, and just com back here under a new handle.
For reference, I would post his full name and shipping address, in an attempt to keep others from falling for a scam again. That being said, some may think this is over the line, since he is trying to deal with you.
Even though he is trying to deal with you, what you had to go through, and the grief he forced upon you is worth the public outing, IMHO.
Best of luck.
True, but if he will be banned from PayPal, how much will that inconvenience him?You make excellent points, and to be honest, this sort of behavior he's exhibited should be shunned in our community. That's true, it will be much more of a hassle, but what if its his first issue with them? I'm not sure the consequences would be so dire as if it were his third or fourth. In any case, as much as it does bother me, I think this offer he's made is fair, but his consequences should be worse than a slap on the wrist.True, but if he will be banned from PayPal, how much will that inconvenience him?
New bank account?
Possibly another name to register under?
New email?
What else is needed?
I forget if PayPal asks for your SS#.
We're on the same page brother.Mikey13folsom
I would put his real name, email and address in pictures with the fake knife and post it on the Facebook/reddit groups to slow him from scamming others.
I do not care if someone gets upset that a scammers info is being made public. They know they are rolling the dice, this time they didn't get the break...
I agree, and I doubt that PayPal will share his history with you, without his consent. That's true, it will be much more of a hassle, but what if its his first issue with them? Reply and *UPDATEI agree, and I doubt that PayPal will share his history with you, without his consent.
I still would make his information public, and change the title of this thread to reflect his thieving behavior.
I like Bill's idea of posting his info in a picture with the knife. Out the sleazeball. Next, Hopefully the mods will take out the trash.Reply and *UPDATE
PayPal has ruled in my favor of a refund in the amount of $115, which is over half the original price payed. I am content with this because
1. The seller has refunded me a good amount of the asking price
2. I am to keep the knife in its entirely with custom hardware, which by itself (without the clone) totals a very very fair amount more than he has kept
3. This clone knife is now out of circulation, will never be passed along to another unsuspecting member of our community, whether on the forums, reddit, eBay, instagram, or facebook. Clone ZT0620cf in fake m390 serial #0017 is dead.
He has been exposed here, with shady practices, and will be made known about on social media platforms. I am satisfied with these results, and I hope that members who have become invested in this thread are as well. Thank you all for the overwhelming support and guidance on this!
That was my issue from the get go, I wanted him to not be in a position to do it again either! In all honesty, I felt this was a best of both worlds situation. A clone is gone and I was able to get a refund with items I did want (the custom hardware). My concern with furthering the PayPal claim was mailing the knife back to him, which in a few of my friend's experiences did not go well, plus his return address (when searched through google maps) appeared to be a vacant lot or strip mall. That was puzzling. I'm glad he has been exposed, and can't use this fake to burn someone else. Its bittersweet, but the outcome was positive in my eyes.I would have a real hard time accepting any offer from this scumbag. In my mind he would be getting away with the act. I'd make him refund in full, even shipping, and let paypal know he is going to try to sell this knife again elsewhere, as he admitted. Then again the hardware and stuff is probably worth the amount you are paying him. And you will be getting a counterfeit off the streets. Tough choice but I know what I would do.

I feel this was a good solution to this, and I appreciate you weighing in!OP gets a resolution he's ok with, seller gets banned, everyone (who deserves to) wins!
It has been a headache, my main concern was having to return a clone knife to someone without qualms of selling it again. So I did try to make it a win win for myself and the community. I was satisfied with it, even though it is bittersweet.I would have countered his offer or gone full refund, after all, how much time and stress have you invested in trying to resolve this? Anyways, glad you feel you have been made whole.
