Quartermaster knife woes

No, I don't think it is OK....do you think it's OK for me to get bashed on for questioning "proof"?

I'm not bashing you. I'm just pointing out that you are taking up for a company that tells potential customers to **** off when we question proof.

He is more than taking up for them he is supporting them with his money, he doesn't care if its made in china or if its warren Thomas design that they stole. If he doesn't care about all the blatant evidence then why would he care the company told you to **** off for asking questions.

I don't think it is right, but I also did not witness it as I did not see the post so my opinion is just in reply to what you stated.

But when a company is asked over and over where their products are made, when they clearly state 100% made in the US....I can see how someone might get irritated. Also, from what I have read, this seems to be pretty common in the knife world. Look at Emerson, he has almost no filter when it comes to telling people to F off.

Like I said before...Why don't one of you that thinks QM is lying about where their knives are made, make a call to the Federal Trade Commission and file an inquiry. You would think a company that has been in business for 3+ years and lying about country of origin would of been caught by now. Especially with all the anti-Quartermaster flag wavers. People here have huge amounts of time repeating the dame flotsam, yet cannot file a complaint to the FTC? If true that would shut them down and if not would force them to remove the Made in US statement.

I mean, if you want the truth...you can get the truth.

You have to wonder how often they get messages from trolls that claim the circumstantial evidence as damning. The reason the courts aren't based on popular opinion is because people love to believe things with little or no real evidence. If I was at Quartermaster and was allowed to tell a troll to bugger off, you bet I would not pass up the chance. Working customer service makes you yearn for a job where your boss tells you it's fine to lose a customer or two because you told them off.

By the way, since you are citing your communications with Quartermaster, can be get the transcripts? Obviously scrub personal info, but paraphrasing only leads to more problems because what is super rude to you can just be a generic response that you took the wrong way (as I have learned first hand).

Emerson is a Man. He has forged a path in the knife world that Jared could only have a wet dream about. To compare the two makes no sense. If Ernie told you to F off you probably deserved it.

I say i'm 100 percent the Pope, and I get irritated every time someone questions it!

And Jared has also done business as "The Mad Blacksmith." Haven't gone down that rabbit hole yet.

I came across that Instagram account a while ago...;):D

The Mad Blacksmith brand is the brainchild of long time metal-master Jared West. Back in high school, West started his design career with Hot Rods by Boyd, a shop run by the late Boyd Coddington in Stanton, CA. At Boyd's, West worked alongside perhaps the most talented auto design-mind of our time: Chip Foose. It is from Chip Foose and other experts that Jared absorbed the knowledge that led to the creation of The Mad Blacksmith brand. After years there and several custom builds under his belt, Jared made his love of design "official" with his enrollment into The Art Center college of design in Pasadena, CA.

Years later, Jared and his partners launched scores of products in his chosen field of aftermarket auto, pocket knives, hand tools, men's accessories, as well as a short foray into consumer electronics after being asked to join the "Haus of Gaga" design team at Polaroid Inc in 2011. This timeline has cleared a path for both quality and creativity to flow more freely from one year to the next.

With a renewed vigor and a flood of fresh ideas, Jared has promised fans of this new brand: The Mad Blacksmith the ultimate in affordable, innovative tools.

I would love to see if he really worked with Boyd and Chip.

You Can't handle The Truth!

Sorry couldn't help it.

Who the F wants to waste a much of time with an inquiry to a government agency about a drop in the bucket knife company that can't answer simple questions? That would be a dumb waste of time.

The info is out there. Either you believe it or you don't. If you want to declare for one side or the other then be prepared to debate it, or walk away.

I would never buy a Quaterdisaster. Way too much smoke. And this is me walking away....

The link is for reporting anti-trust violations.

Rather than attack each other, why not draw whatever conclusions seem to you to be justified from the facts as they appear?

I am not a lawyer, but it mentioned companies using unfair practices to gain market share. Wouldn't claiming 100% US Made, but using Chinese products so you can undercut the competition fall under Anti-Trust. As for filing a claim with the FTC, which would handle the "Made in US" issue, this is the closest link that they have on their page.

I find it a dumb waste of time for people that troll for words like "Quartermaster" and "Strider" just so they can pop in and school people.

Wait, is this about strider? I thought it was about QTRM...My mistake.

So what does it say about the folks who respond to dumb people who "pop" in and "school" people about Qs or Striders?

I have no dog in this fight other than to say that based on my own research I won't ever support a company that can't tell me where their product is made when asked. To each their own I guess. Sorry if that was "pop"ing off. Then again, this is a forum where we share our thoughts and opinions on various things.

It states on their website that they are Made in the US, it also says it on their knives.....How hard is that to understand?

The QTRM5TR Equipment Factory is located in Central Texas, at the gateway to hill country. Our facility is state-of-the-art in every way, its been custom built from the ground up to accommodate nearly every process that a modern manufactory would/could use.

The 6-acre complex is under 24 hour surveillance using recently de-classified thermal imaging sensors. The 8,500 square foot facility is home to multiple design studios, think-tanks & a 3,000 sq ft shop floor. However, a medical-grade clean room and a 3 story-high knife museum with a biometric-scanner that allows/disallows access are likely to be considered the highlights of our facility.

This is all the proof I need that something is just not right. Nobody writes weird $hit like that unless it's a weapons grade chemical plant.....

It proves nothing, but says so damn much about the kind of yahoo's we are talking about, that everything stays on the table.

One last thing.
Spyderco sells an infinite number of more knives then QM. To say that you see 'complaints about their CS to the same amount as QM just proves the point even further. (Spyderco has MUCH better CS then QM)
Think number of CS experiences compared to issues reported, and don't make me do the math for you, please...

It doesn't actually have to be 'made in the USA' to be labelled 'made in the USA' parts made elsewhere but assemble here seems to be 'good enough'......
I purchased a Mantis Friction folder from their site to just to check it out and it had mismatched pieces and it sure looked like the parts were made over seas and possibly assembled here. It was a real piece of junk.

You believe what there website says despite there lack of honesty and clarity. No one may have told you this so this may come as a surprise...

Not everything you read is true, people will lie its a fact. Your blind faith in qtrmstr is amusing, you have ZERO reason to believe what they say and several reasons to be suspicious of them and you choose blind faith... rather odd to me.

Anyway I see your set in your blind faith of quarter master so let's agree to disagree? But just so were clear

Screwdriver = believes everything qtrmstr puts out, thinks there a good honest company and has zero reason to doubt anything qtrmstr says based on blind faith of the company.

Shinyedges= Doesn't believe qtrmstr, thinks there's enough shadyness to question the company ethics. Questions to the company about said shadyness are met with hostility instead of honesty and willingness to get the truth out.

It states on their website that they are Made in the US, it also says it on their knives.....How hard is that to understand?
