Signalprick/JWRitchie Knives Slipjoint Recovers, Mods and WIPS

I feel like I'm watching a very talented artist at work, Jason. I want my 93 micarta jigged, contoured like that. Wow, just gifted.

I finished up a pair of the Pajama Pocket Carvers today. These were my only 2 pen blade secondaries from the GEC 86 deletes. The black one belongs to JTB_5 JTB_5 and the natural canvas will be given away here on the porch. These should make handy lightweight slicers for light duty carry.

Excellent!
The knives you've put together lately, are so appealing. Your jigged black paper micarta is very impressive.

I'm diggin' your work Jason, and I'm staying tuned, to see what you come up with next.
Michael

This sweet little gem just arrived. I’m not a whittler but I may have to start.

Not a bad way to make use of a blade big enough for most light cutting tasks eh! Keep me posted on how handy those little guys are. I think in the future as people want a blade delete done I'm going to keep offering this as a mod to go along with that procedure.
You did the jigging on that?! It looks incredible. Man, your skill is getting prodigious.
Surprisingly I did. :D Thank you for the compliment. I'm just doing my best to learn and get better everytime.

I’ll be carrying it for the next few days to see how it does. It disappears in my pocket and I’m a little nervous that I’ll lose it if it slips out because it has so little weight I don’t notice it. The size is perfect. We’ll see how useful it is, but I have a good feeling it will do everything I need it to do in a knife this size.

I've been working on this Farm & Field Hay'n Helper recover. It's a bit of a mulligan, my first attempt ended catastrophically. Which has kind of been a blessing as I got a chance to refocus and learn a few new tricks. Most importantly reliefs for lightweight builds. I don't own a mini mill so I cut them with my shield jig and dremel by hand. They are not the prettiest but 100% functional and a big improvement to lightweight builds.

Do you just control the depth of the cut with your eye and hand control?

Before I shape them (unshaped they are flat) I clamp them upside down in my shield jig. I mount my dremel into my router attachment with a 113 cutting bit and use shims to get my depth. I traced out my relief marks and then freehand mill them following the outline first. Someday I'll have a proper mini mill but in the meantime, improvise, adapt and overcome! :)

I finished up the GEC #47 Hay'n Helper for Jfowl31 Jfowl31 yesterday. This one is a lightweight conversion covered in some sweet vintage butterscotch paper xx. It has black g10 mill relieved liners and a black paper micarta badge shield. I'm pretty sure Jordan reground the hawksbill blade into a sheepsfoot profile. Very clean regrind! It was an honor to do this one. Jordan has been like a mentor to me in this modding endeavor. Hope you love it buddy!

No regrind on that one. Just an OG Hayn Helper.

I am super stoked on this knife though! You killed it and I can't wait to get it and put it to use! I'm not really sure what I'm "mentoring" at this point... Lmao. I think it's more "bouncing ideas" off each other more than anything because I'm fairly positive you're better than me at this game lmao!

Just finished up this GEC 71 Bull Nose. This one was converted into a lightweight (linerless) and covered in a vintage rag micarta from Brent Cramer. The black g10 liners are mill relieved. No shield per the customers request. Thia is just some of the most beautiful phenolic IMO. This one really turned out great if I do say so myself. Thanks for taking a look!
