SOLVED LionSteel cust. service or the dealer

Frankly, even $800 custom folders aren't immune from minor aesthetic imperfections. In my opinion (and experience) you need to go up to $2,500+ customs before you really can start expecting everything to be perfect.

Just sent a $2500 knife back to maker for lock tune-up.

Didn't hurt and I'm not pissed off

C chambelona59 I bought a Roundhead Stag in the first round and had an issue with a screw that looked somewhat cammed out, fortunately still works fine, but also had some bad sharps burs. I contacted knifeswapper knifeswapper and at that time was unfortunately informed that he did not have and couldn't not get replacement screws as the shipping cost from an Italian company for a small part would be unreasonable. I was able to accept this and after getting a quality Torx bit set and driver I removed the screw and swapped it to a place on the scale it was more sunken and eliminated the hot spot of the sharp bur. I have not even bothered to request a replacement screw since even though Mike had indicated he would try to get spares with his next order from LionSteel. You couldn't be bothered to read his replies yet myself and others have and we have seen and read the solutions and answers he has provided to your concerns. I hope he is able to fix it for you and your bitterness goes away.

Side note I am likely going to see about sanding down the sharp bur(s) on any my Roundhead screws instead of bothering with a replacement even though I suspect that it is an option for me.

I didn't want to slog through all four pages of this hot take, but I will say this: I also had an issue with a screw on one of these knives, and Mike took care of me. I had to wait (more than 2 weeks the OP stated, though that was my own doing to space out my communications) but here I am made whole by Mike.

I think OP felt a little too entitled, yes you spent a lot of money but A) you were unaware of Mike's one man show which can make communicating difficult, and B) just because you paid "big" doesn't make you the king. How about some patience for our fellow knife lovers guys.

Thanks to Blues Bender for posting the links. I just thought I would copy them incase the OP decides to erase them.

>>Dear Customer,

I saw the pictures attached and I can only think that the countersunk screw located on the back is too high.

Today I send screws of different length to solve the problem.
Thank you for activating Lionsteel warranty, please keep this e-mail as proof of activation.

Very simple, two of the knives received were perfect in every aspect, the others were allowed to slip by (no pun intended) Quality Control by LionSteel then again unfortunately by the dealer.
Nothing personal towards the dealer or LionSteel but the product needs to be checked thoroughly before allowed to ship out to a dealer and then to the consumer.

As I mentioned in the first post in the thread, some people hate anything that is not a glowing, gushingly positive post within FEEDBACK: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly! that is inevitable and unfortunately expected.
No response to Junior Detectives, Conspiracy Theorists, Fanboys, Fangirls, Trollettes, Name callers, common schoolyard bullies or the little bullies that always come along and hide behind them, no response.

When I receive the replacements, I will ask B.F. to remove this entire post as it appears my objective will be met.
'Steven65' no photos will be erased as nothing warrants any photo erasures.

If your "objective" by posting a flat out false accusation on Saturday was to get a new set of screws - then you are doubly rewarded. As I mentioned Sunday, a set went out from us on Monday morning. You have still neither acknowledged nor even responded specifically to the one point that you never sent communication to me with any request for action. Yes, I am sure you will have more responses and vague references to some type of past communication. But, either post some communication other than I have from the outset, or just acknowledge it didn't happen. Otherwise, just acknowledge you lied about what pictures were sent to us and what was requested from us in the first post, and revel in the fact that such lies did net you two sets of screws - which are not going to set any lower than the first.

No doubt you feel vindicated that you have reached your objective and gotten your screws. In the process of which you have taken much glee in rubbishing a great dealer and supporter of traditional knives...............All this for less than a Dollar's worth of screws.

You have been economical with the truth and have manipulated it to suit yourself. Enjoy your future time here on Bladeforums.

Talk about "the patience of Job" (you've got it CK). This situation is a prime example of why this Calabrese heritage member (that's me :D) would NEVER make it in retail. ;) Someone's made it onto a few (or more) ignore lists, and it ain't knifeswapper. :p

Calabrese??? That explains a lot!! I’m Sicilian.....not stubborn at all and tons of patience!! NOT!!!
:D

I've only had two CK Lionsteel slipjoints, one Roundhead and one Shuffler. Both were excellent. No not perfect, if you look close enough there is no perfect knife.

The other Lionsteel knives I own, fixed blade and locking folders, have been uniformly excellent. Perhaps their QA on the special runs for CK hasn't been as good.

Some knife buyers are after perfection. I understand the screw issue because it affects using the knife. The other issues pose a problem for either resale or collectibility but not for use. If you are a collector and demand perfection, I suggest that you only buy knives in person so you can inspect them and choose the ones that meet your standards.

There was a day when all knives were handmade, even factory knives had hand operations. No two of those knives were exactly the same and few were perfect. To me that is part of the charm of knife collecting when each knife is unique.

Here is something you might keep in mind if you intend to post on public forums: Sometimes people will disagree with you without being any of those things.

Hi Mike,

Just spent a half hour perusing your site...what a great resource for traditionals, etc!!

I don't purchase many productions or sliplocks, but if I did they would be from you.

Thanks for your efforts...Job had nothing on you during this rodeo!

They're $100 production pieces, they aren't free from imperfections. They are still quite striking and functional though so why fret. Chambelona if you wanted collectors pieces this is not the way to go about it.
