The above is how Boker describes the B0-018 on their web site. They show a price of $25.95, which I assume is MSRP and puts it at the upper end of the listed Magnums price range.


On their web site they distiguish the two brands; "Boker - your knives made in Solingen" v. "Mangnum - knives from around the world"

If the blade read "Magnum" and not "Boker" it didn't come from Germany

So 8 legged, if you have the photo, please post it so we can read the brand on the blade.

My first post in this thread covers all of this.
THIS WAS APRIL 2002 .
I was the first on the scene with these. I was buying these as Boker Speedmasters, made in Germany. It was a first production run.
It was NOT $25.95: I was not buying or selling these anywhere close to that price.
The blade said MAGNUM. It was NOT stamped TAIWAN.
Then again, it did NOT have a GERMAN stamp either.

I have not changed my story. I can only tell you what I know or what I am told.

Masterchef continues to contradict himself with every post, and as for him being honest as a scout, thats BULL because if you read through this entire thread carefully he has lied multiple times and most every one of his posts has been edited.

Masterchef you DID NOT contact me 1 or 2 weeks after our deal, you know VERY WELL you waited 3 MONTHS until AUGUST 2002 .
That might not have a thing to do with the whole TAIWAN/GERMAN thing, but it tells me you have lied and you will lie again.

It's an ugly thread with my seller name blasted on the front page.

But that's what you wanted, right? You want me to look like a THIEF. You didn't bother to even mention a date of transaction until it came to be known here. You wanted it to look like yesterday, and everybody knew that yesterday these were selling as TAIWAN and there are hundreds of them on BladeAuction for $20 or less.

Of course that was before you went back and edited your post to hell. That was before you began to let some of the smaller details, the little things that kill, into the picture.

YOU ARE STILL LYING about the smaller details that are very important.
I know it and you know it.

BUT...................

If someone can tell me that none of these were EVER made in Germany, never at all, and know that for an utmost FACT, then I will know that I was misled and in turn unknowingly misled Masterchef, and a whole lotta other people too.

It does not and will not change what happened, and it will not affect the price of what they were then and what they are now either.

When that day comes that that is revealed I will return here and publicly apologize to Masterchef for misleading him, but NEVER ripping him off.
Any trust that if he was misled, so was I, and that I would NEVER intentionally mislead anyone in my auctions or anywhere else.

Until then I am done here. There is nothing more I can say about what I have already said. I thought I laid it out simple and plain in my very first post here.

At this point, people can believe what I say, what Masterchef says, or neither one of us.

Listen you have no idea what your saying.A number of my posts have been edited because somewhere someone has said something to make me think twice.That is why I have edited my posts in the past. A lot of times I thought I was right then someone would say something that would make alot of cense and I would edit my post until the facts came out. As for calling me a liar that is about as much as I will take. You have been proven wrong and you should have said sorry.If you were mislead when you bought them originaly that is an honest mistake but you should have returned my email and said so. I have had this bad feeling towards you for a long time and maybe I should have shut my mouth.Plain and simple you sold me a TAIWAN knife NOT a GERMAN one and thats that. Just curious, is it possible the first ones were made in Germany?

I remember when the Boker Top-Locks first came out....95 or 96? (give or take a year). As I recall the first ones were made in Germany, and then were later made in Argentina. Maybe those first Magnums were made in Germany.

Maybe somebody knows this for sure.

Even if they were made in Germany I would think that they would have been marked Boker, not Magnum. From what I understand, they do not put Magnum on their German made knives.

Well, the last few posts from you masterchef were more than enough.
I read every single thing you wrote, including the last few posts you wrote out before you started wiping everything out.

The last few posts were really starting to look pretty bad indeed for you, and that would include the complete arrogance you showed as well as what 8 legged brought to light.
You obviously saw this yourself, and wiped out every single post you made, from start to finish.

I will never do business with you, in any capacity, for any reason. This thread was very enlightening.

You have a severe reading comprehension problem, and do not have the required self control to quit reading my BS, but I'm the idiot. Yeah, okay.

masterchef welcomes comments in his thread here, albeit only from people taking his side. That sentiment is all that's left of his numerous posts on this subject.

I said I don't want comments period. Just read both sides of the story and decide the truth for yourself, and stick with it.

I'm sure you'll be reading this post as well, so now do you get it?

As for my last post telling masterchef I would not do business with him, that was more to let those that blindly support him know, so they can decide if they would like to avoid me as well.

masterchef, I am honestly sorry to see you come to this. For whatever it's worth, you seemed like a pretty good guy, before this thread.
Then, the farther it went, the worse you looked.

Now, in the very post where you lament your previous insults and state that as the reason for wiping out everything you wrote, you can do nothing more than call me a troll, and assure me that you do not care, when you obviously do.

I guess I did not become a troll, to you, until I did not unquestioningly side with you and take everything you said as fact, although according to you I have been "trolling" this forum for quite awhile now.

As for commenting in "everyone's thread in GB&U", that's obviously not true. Here lately I have commented in 2 or 3, but other that than I am quite content to quietly decide for myself and leave it at that. Ironically, the same can surely not be said for most of the people who posted in this thread.

So be happy. You have lots of support, what you wrote is not around for anyone to read so it cannot come back to haunt you, and who knows, maybe someone will give you a knife or something for all you went through.

I just saw this thread now, FWIW Magnum definatly is Boker's budget brand. The good stuff is German, some of the cheaper stuff is Argentine.

The Magnum stuff while it may have exactly the same lines will always be a cheap import(aside from a few deluxe fixed blades they produced mid 90's).

Ask the Boker guys at www.bokerusa.com , They're pretty nice, and will give you a really straight answer.

Know what you are buying and selling.

You will find this to be the case in a court of law, but very seldom in an internet forum.

After following this thread from the beggining, I'm very surprised at how it ended. Masterchef, you often (constantly) speak of respect and how it's your due. Respect is something that is given, not demanded. Am I the only other person here besides mikemck that understands how this unfolded?? SPYDERMAN got the royal scruge. Please bite your tongue before you tell me this is none of my business. That's such a worn out line on this very public forum.
 
c´mon guys... I read the whole thread and I see similarity in cases I had. I too sell on BA and remember Spyderman (since he was one of my competitors). His descriptions of knives were always accurate (as far as I can tell). But that is not the point. Just about 3 years back the knives I sell were 2-3 times more expensive since the demand was high and production low. Often the bidding went too high and just after the auction was over the bidders realized what had happened. They could have gone to my web site (linked from every auction) and buy the knife for less. But most of them honored the closing bids and paid for the auction anyway. But I had a few who never responded or were complaining about the price. I see similar thing here. The price of the knife in question was high 1.5 years ago compared to todays price but was quite OK at that time. Sure, now you can buy the same knife for 20-30% of its original price but you could not do it year or so ago. You agreed on certain price and from the thread I think you even liked the knife for a while. BTW I am sure you got the knife described on auction (pictures were certainly included) so you knew exactly what knife you were getting. I am sure the BA knife did not have "made in Germany" on a blade. Now after some time when you can get it much cheaper you are starting to regret your choice. Well too late. I too had bought knives for a lot of money that are now for less... That happens. But it does not have to be your case. You probably learned over the time that maybe all of Magnums were never made in Germany and you feel you paid too much for that knife especially when it was made in Asia.... Did you know that when you bought the knife? If yes, why you bought it (picture was on BA, you knew there was Magnum mark on the knife). If you did not know it there is a chance Spyderman did not know it either... Was the knife manufactuired in Asia? That is possible and if that happened I am sure it was an honest mistake on Spydermans side and he did not know it...(take the Kershaw knives for example - the same models are made in China, Taiwan, US - some have stamps on blades, some do not). But that mistery of early Magnums can be easily solved by calling/e-mailing Boker. I have had only good experince with their customer service... So why not ask them?

PS: I have the old Magnum catalogs and will find the MRSP for that particular knife.
