Stolen Rod Olson timascus unique one!!!

You know? Some of the members are being real harsh on me! Kicking the guy that's down already! Rather than give some good advise! ? Some of you guys blame me for being not careful in this transaction, I understand and will be more cautious next time. For accusing me of bullshit , stuff like fishy and less believable??? Need to quit!!
Thanks to all those that understand my situation, and probably went thru something similar !!
Again I don't blame anybody for this !
Have a good one !!

Actually, we're wondering why you're posting here. This isn't the "Complain about the Post Office" forum. This is the Feedback forum where people are supposed to leave feedback about deals wherein either good, or bad happened on the part of one of the participants (who should be BF members). First of all, your story makes zero sense, and secondly, if you aren't here to warn us not to do business with Corhoff, then why ARE you here? This whole thing smells fishy, not the least because you are posting talking very nonchalantly about multiple things that would have any rational person very concerned. Shrugging off $1,000 like it's no big deal doesn't tell me "This guy Robson is a high roller who's used to doing big leagues deals!", it says "This guy is acting like this money doesn't exist, because it's possible this whole thing never really happened."

It might have been best if you hadn't posted at all, or at least, posted the situation coherently, and candidly. "Dude sent me a box which was supposed to contain a $1,000 knife. I opened it, and it was empty, I blame the carrier, because this guy who I've sent some direct messages back and forth on Instagram with seems like a nice guy and couldn't have possibly scammed me. I JUST WANTED TO WARN EVERYONE THAT THE POST OFFICE STOLE A KNIFE! But this guy who I paid F&F* couldn't possibly be to blame!" That's essentially what's going on here.

If by something similar, you mean, tore out of the house to meet the USPS lady, signed for a package that I paid for with PayPal F&F, ripped it open in front of said USPS lady in disbelief that a 1000$ knife was missing from a poorly taped box.

No, I can't say I have. Thanks for the entertainment though.

I posted in general knife discussion, post was moved here after. Really my intentions were to find the knife one day on forums maybe ?

Sorry we hurt your feelings OP, but I have to agree with all Quiet has stated.
Read it with the perspective of someone looking in from the outside. You want to warn us about the PO??
Shame this has happened to you, BUT you paid with F&F. If you do a bit of research here, you will notice a recurring theme.....NEVER USE F&F!!!! EVER!!!! Especially with someone you do not know.
That is the entire problem here and we've seen it a gajillion times.
Sorry

If there isn't some horse hockey going on here then I think the box getting squished enough for it to flex enough for the knife to fall out is a plausable scenario. Of course facillitated by the extremely poor tapeing job done by the sender as well as shipping through the wrong channels.

Out of curiosity what is F&F

Thanks ! Man . I've been on forums since October 2016 I think ?! Have some transactions here , all solid . Started off 0 feedback and had to proof people I'm an honest guy , by even giving my other information out , so they believe me . I think most of knife collectors are honest people ! I am a knife collector and an honest one ! Been loving knives since I was 9. It's part of my life .
I don't just jump quick on forums to sell something and make a few bucks ! Most of the knives I buy I keep .
Opened an ig account to post my collection a couple of months ago robrobson211 check em out!
I'm friends with many makers and dealers in person . They all will back me on who I am !
Thanks bladeforums!!

Personally, I feel for the guy and can vouch for Robson211. He's a good man. We worked out a deal yesterday and while it isn't completed yet, a good friend of mine said he's good to go and I trust him. It just doesn't seem right for everyone to jump on him for trying to tell the forum to keep a lookout for his stolen knife. If you've seen his Instagram, he seems like the last person to try to scam the post office for cash.

PayPal Family & Friends?

While I would agree that this is an odd transaction in some ways, I don't find it the least bit extraordinary that OP would post this in the hope that someone might recognize this unique knife in the event it showed up in the Exchange.

It seems to me that if that were the intent, he should have kept the message cohesive.

Message: "I did a trade for a very unique custom knife. (Pic posted here) The package arrived to my house and it was empty. The other guy has nothing to do with this as I have already vetted him. This was clearly a post office theft. Please contact me if you see someone trying to sell this knife. (scroll back up to see pic)"

That would be all that was needed, instead, he kept adding details that make this out to be fishy. Why was Bladeforums involved in what was clearly a trade worked out on Instagram? Why would you give yourself no legal recourse to recoup your funds on a deal for a knife that cost you a thousand dollars by using F&F? I am personally related to two millionaires, and those guys don't like letting a fifty dollar bill out of their sight, they definitely wouldn't just toss out a grand like it was no big deal. Also, why bring the seller into it? A box arrives empty? I'm sorry, but my immediate suspicion is going to be on the seller/trader. What is more likely? Someone at the post office knowing that this box contained a knife worth $1,000, or someone getting your money F&F, not sending the knife, then claiming that it was the post office? One, it's an easy claim to make because it's impossible to prove (in a way that will move Post Officials to actually help you). Two, it completely absolves the seller of any responsibility. You said he's going to give you $500 back? Awesome, that means he's still up by $500. And unless you've done other high dollar deals with this person, well...all I can say is that it takes a LOT more than a few friendly fist-bump emojis and some friendly chatting back and forth about knives on Instagram DM for me personally to trust someone, and I would NEVER send F&F.

Hopefully, you've learned an important lesson. May want to take that to heart before you get bit on one of your other high dollar sales.

Also, with my piece said, I'll leave you to it.

Has he proven beyond a reasonable doubt the knife was stolen? Has he filed a Police Report on the "stolen" knife?

Hello everyone I'm Mr. Bill the $1000.00 pocket knife. Would you like to follow me on my amazing adventure today ?

I only weigh 5 ounces but I'm worth $1000.00. The Seller rolled me up in brown paper and inserted in a small flat rate box with scotch tape over the tab. "Oh , Noooo!" The Buyer payed Friends & Family on pay pal, "Oh,Noooo.!" I wasn't mailed Registered so I won't be traveling in a locked mail pouch that's signed for by anyone that touches it, I'm traveling loose with thousands of other parcels today, "Oh, NOOOO!"
Here we go, everyone so bucket your seats tight OK? I was handed off to the Post Office and tossed in a big hamper, look out the other parcels are being tossed on top of me, "Oh,Noooo!" Now they're tossing me in a huge 6 foot tall metal cage on wheels, look out cause now they're tossing some 70 pounders on me, "Oh,Noooo!" They're loading me on a contract truck now with 20 of these cages full to the brim, "Oh,Noooo!
I'm on the road now not knowing how many contract trucks and jets I'll be on until I'm there. Uh oh, I'm at a sectional center and being tossed in another cage to my destination. Here comes some 50 pounders on top of me again,Oh,Noooo! Damnit, looks like one smashed me a little. That brown paper isn't good enough padding to make the box solid, OUCH that hurts "Oh,Noooo!" It's awful dark in here guys and I don't know if I'm on a contract truck or a plane now. Oh oh getting bumpy and those other boxes are causing mine to open up wider where it wasn't taped at the seams. I'm FALLING falling out of the box NOW  "Oh,Noooo!"
There goes all the Mail and I'm LOST, HELP ME , Help Me Please! I'm not stolen , I'm lost !:eek::eek: "Oh,Noooo!"

not really sure whats going on here other than what i read, but you are killing me......

hope this isn't some scheme and hope everyone who deserves it comes out okay.

I will point out for what it is worth that the PO delivery women would (in this service offering) have to knock on door and have him sign for the package - BEFORE she would give it to him. It's possible that he immediately realized it was very light and then quickly opened it while she was still there - would only have taken 20 or 30 seconds for this all to happen.
Part of the confusion/suspicion here is the initial posts not being clear and then details piece meal coming out. Throw in the PP FF for a 1000 knife - not a positive.
I'll also point out that using a blue insurance sticker like that indicates something is valuable inside. Black labels are used for $200 or less. Blue for more. unfortunately, with some PO workers having sticky hands - this adds to their interest.
Best to always try and print labels on-line and avoid the visual differentiator of those insurance stickers.

No gloves! It was only sealed in clear tape. Idk what that blue stuff is but it's clearly on top of the tape in the pic.

Thank you for answering. If I had to guess, the package was not sealed that great. Should have been mailed registered instead of flat rate. OP should use paypal g&s and form better posts. Seems to me a very nice knife got stolen in transit. I would be bummed about the blade and about the money. Good lesson here on many points.

I will gladly pay the money back once I find out what's going on. I am an honest guy and read all these posts and don't insult any of you! If you knew me personally you wouldn't be making these judgements of me which is fine, everyone's entitled to their own opinion lol. I hope this gets resolved and I'm not out a knife and money but if that's the case I will learn from everything that has happened and not make the same mistakes twice. I appreciate all of you in this amazing community and your input! Thanks p.s. My grammar is perfect whoever said that!

Because of all the scams and cons these days, people can be skeptical and cynical, when they here an unusal story. I'm starting to think that you two guys are being sincere, and I hope that the truth can be discovered. This really does reinforce the idea of being systematic in following the paypal rules of buyer and seller protection, learn to pack properly, no movement from inside the box, use extra stout tape, and be generous with it, covering all corners and edges of the box, and also utilizing registered mail for high value items.

The only reason I posted here is "because here we go again !" I carried mail for over 35 years and you know how many cases of a USPS employee stealing mail I seen ? A grand total of one, yes UNO Employee! I bet that pos is still sitting Federal Pen somewhere. You know Corhoff the vast number of Postal Employees are honest people also and you come here yelling thief. Don't put a purse on the car and hop on the freeway and then claim theft .
If that's the way you ship knives, please try UPS !

I never said theft by the post office or anyone, the buyer did. How often does post office theft actually happen? Not often as you said. All I know is I was messaged that the knife wasn't in the package when it arrived. This is a nightmare for me. Like I said, I'm not placing blame on anyone until I know the facts from the post office, which I'm in the process of a fraud investigation with. Something is very fishy, trust me I feel the same way most of you do and would love to jump to conclusions as well. I know that knife was in there and that's all that matters to me at this point until it's resolved. I fell horrible for Rob and am doing all I can to fix this without being scammed at the same time. From the messages we've exchanged I feel he is an good guy, however I have no idea who he really is as he has no idea who I really am. So I am very cautious now and don't know what's what right now but I will!
