Strider Knives, Game Over!

Not one person is arguing that the folders or the fixed blades are bad knives. In fact if you bother to read you'll see that this is about the person that owns the company and not the product. Make the distinction please.

Now as for lies. When my wife was pregnant and a balloon asking me how she looked and I told her 'great!' ok. I lied.

When I drank heavy in my youth into my 30s and came home after 12 beers and said to the wife that I had one or two. Ok I lied. Oh I meant one or two six packs honey, sorry! Go ahead lie somemore because I know a lot of guys that do that and other things just like that.

In this respect yeah, I agree everyone lies a little bit. There is a big difference however between those kind of white lies and the type where fabrication (s) of background (s), training, whereabouts, and/or ID (s) ie, name changes have covered tracks or made it that much more difficult to really know who it is in front of you shaking your hand or selling you a folder. I think when they all add up to presenting yourself as someone you are not or when the lies present a false history of yourself and it ends up on a well known, reputable site like POWnetwork.org listing you as a phony and a wannabe that it is time to take it a bit more serious.

I think Spark is correct. Its getting pretty ludicrous with the twisted intensity that has been posted in the last several completely off the wall posts.

If not, the POW Network is going to have a big lawsuit on their hands. I find it hard to swallow that they wouldn't do some thorough confirmation before putting this information up though.

Right, and I could give two sh*ts about the owners. As long as they make a strong product that does what I need it to do. And...I have read all this nonsense and it's starting to get a little ridiculous.

I just want to know if Thomas Poland aka Thomas Duane Poland aka Duane Thomas Dwyer are all one in the same. I have yet to see confirmation of this from Duane Dwyer. When Mick was outed he pretty much came clean and admited that all the stuff on POW Network was true, more or less.

Its a valid question. I concur but doubt seriously if the POWnetwork.org folks that have access to more than what was published would make such an error before thouroughly checking it out from all angles. Anything is possible though.

Also, it was not right away that Mick came clean (if you want to call it that) or wrote the site so time will tell more than anything.

If not I'm sure we'll know soon enough and I'll be the first to say I hope its not Duane and that it is in fact a big mistake. I rather admired Duane and justified the purchases I made of Strider knives after all that Mick fiasco just because of Duane's background and career being legit. Now I wonder if that too isn't contrieved and who can blame anyone for wondering if they see someone they thought they knew to be legit posted on such a place as a phony or wannabe? If some want to say I'm part of a witch hunt because I happen to be bold enough to put my thoughts on the matter on a public forum rather than keep them silently to myself like many are doing then so be it.

I don't have any current figures but I do recall Bush's approval rating having plummeted so your argument doesn't seem to hold much weight. He's been elected so there isn't much to do now but wait for the end of his term. We do have the right to protest if we feel compelled.

There's nothing wrong with still enjoying Strider products and buying them or keeping them in your collection but why shouldn't any unsuspecting buyers know the facts before they "invest" in them. Some people might not care about their stories one way or the other but do you really believe the stories haven't influenced at least some of their customers?

At the risk of alienating any Strider fans who I'm aquainted with, it truly is shameful to undeservedly bask in the glory paid for with the blood, sweat and tears of our military heroes. A proper apology, such as the examples we've seen in this thread, would go far in helping to rebuild their reputation, IMO. I don't want to bring religion into this, but just to help make my point, don't you first have to repent and confess your sins for even God to forgive you?

I don't. The people who care will stop buying their knives. That will happen regardless, but what does that have to do with discussing the situation?

You analogy applies to yourself, as well, you know. It actually works better for your situation:

If the discussion bothers you, don't read or participate in it.

How so? I just want to find out if what the POW Network is posting about Duane Dwyer is truth or not. Instead of verifing the truth, this thread has gone from Duane Dwyer bashing, to George Bush bashing and is leading to God knows what. The discussion doesn't bother me, that's why I'm participating in it. :) How do you like them apples?

Let's stop with the childish antics there NRG. They don't serve any purpose. If you have something to contribute, bring it on out. Tossing insults doesn't do anything.
 
I thought I did/was Spark. This kid tried to think he was calling me out for something. Sounds like he's the one being a little childish, don't you think? All I said was I'd like to know the truth about the situation and that I like Strider folders. Does that makes me a villan?

are what I was referring to. I'm glad you like the knives and that your experience with them has been positive. Repeatedly it's been mentioned that nobody is discussing the quality of their products offered. What people have stated, ad nauseum, is that falsifying your background for monetary gain is despicable. That is the bone of contention.

Ummmmh, so you buy your TV out of the back of a run down truck from a junky, who stole it from gods knows who and might have killed someone in the process, and who is selling it to support his addiction? But of course you do: it is an excellent buy and a really good TV set, and you don't give a s#!+ from whom you are buy your possessions..... Oh, and I forgot to add: If you see that junky on the police wanted list, you don't really give a damn either. You know what. I wonder how you would feel when you leave a hospital after a serious surgery, finding out that the doctor, who operated on you, never got a medical degree? I am sure you will be thinking: "Ohhh, no biggy, after all I am still alive....". If you don't see the analogy, maybe you should consider that Strider never sold knives. They have been selling "highspeed tools for hardcore individuals".

I see no reason for the attempt at a guilt trip using holiday spirit on those that are not Strider apologists trying to openly discuss a current event they feel strongly about either. It seems to be just another feeble attempt to try to shut folks up about something a few people are tired of having to deal with. Its a topic that needs to be discussed. I don't see hate here or a waste of energy. Perhaps the waste of energy was in all the story telling. To me it seems civilized people are talking about current events in the news with a few that want to label it something else in an effort to defend someone getting harder and harder to justify defending.

If your talking about my comment Mr.STR....i suppose it could be an attempt as you say OR it could be the FACT that i spend 2-5 hours a day at a care home visiting my father and other's there who's moments of breath are precious....and by the way my father served and is decorated twice i also served....there are kids serving rite now for our freedom...it just seems that since they are giving there lives so we can be free that we should be more productive with the time we have....Thats all Sir...i guess i just see things a different way..No offense intended :)
 
Duane hasn't confirmed it, but he hasn't denied it either. if something like that was posted about me, and it wasn't true, you can be sure that I would be screaming my innocence. Maybe Duane handles things in a different way.
