If I expected to see him in person, I would respectfully ask him face to face. However, I don't expect to be seeing him in person any time soon, so, instead, I intend to try to call him, at the Strider Knives number on their website, in a few days (after the holidays).

I'll put together a relatively short list of questions, and, if he honors me with his willingness to listen to my questions and answer them, then I'll ask him these, and report his answers. Here are a few questions, so far:

Have you ever had the first name Thomas?
Have you ever has the last name Poland?
Is the Thomas Poland DD214 on POWnet your DD214?

(If yes)
Is that DD214 accurate?
Is that DD214 complete?

I'll add more questions, a little later. Meanwhile, feel welcome to suggest (relevant and respectful) questions you'd like me to ask him.

i seriously doubht he is gonna let ya interrogate him, i could be wrong but i dont think so.

as far as asking at a show, again, i doubt he would discuss it with ya, i really do, i dont think folks wanna fight, not yet anyway lol. i mean come on now.........

not saying he's right or wrong but would any of you guys start answering personal questions on the phone from some guy who is investigating you for an internet forum? i know i wouldnt lol.

as far as any damage to SKI, i just havent seen it, but who knows what the future holds?

whatever happens they do make an excellent knife FWIW, imho there was never a need to lie/exxagerate about anything which is one reason its all so hard to swallow for me.

I am not knocking any of his writings or beliefs, that's for another thread.

What I will always be pissed off about is crap like "Captain and Prosecutor for a small Municipal Police Department in Northern New England" and Professor of Police blah blah blah and of course lines like "I never arrested anyone who blah blah blah........

The truth is that he never arrested anyone, period, He does not teach for the State Academy here, never even been invited to do so and being a Captain and Prosecutor; a Bullshit title. His entire NH police career is just titles in exchange for goods and training.

If that's what Duane's done; create a baloney background to market himself and his products he belongs with Massad and should join Massad's group, they are called the "WANNABES"

Interest in whether a reputation is phony is proportionate to the size of the reputation in question. This will "go on," in one form or another, at one place or another, until some consensus is reached on the questions raised. So, is Mr. Dwyer in fact "Thomas D. Poland" and, if so, did he somehow perform the claimed extensive service as a Marine sniper despite the record posted by POWNET?

It will likely continue until the questions are answered. Look how long stuff has been appearing on the forums about Mick.

One thing is for sure; there has been a huge amount of speculation and conjecture in this thread. Does anyone know of any way to get the answers to the questions being put forward in this thread? We can speculate until the cows come home, but that isn't going to get us anywhere beyond where we are right now. Is there a way to positively prove that Thomas Duane Poland Jr. and Duane Dwyer are one and the same?

Hi, SIFU1A,

My style is going to be more along the lines of polite questioning than interrogation. Perhaps you are right, that he won't let me question him. However, he may appreciate the opportunity to clear things up, through a non-hostile intermediary... especially if he is innocent of wrongdoing, which he may be. We'll never know whether he'll listen to questions and answer them, unless we try.

I see no harm in trying.

In regard to asking questions in person: I'd be polite and friendly. I wouldn't be looking for a fight, just asking questions. I'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt that he is mature enough to handle questioning.

I'm not the one whining about the "true identity" of Mick or Duane. If you are so sure they aren't who they say they are, why don't you call them? I have their business cards that I got from Blade here somewhere, I'll send you their phone numbers in a pm so you can set the record straight for all of us here:thumbup:.
 
Numbers sent. Give them a call, fax, or email them for us. I did notice that their cards have the same info on them but they both have separate cards. I wonder if possibly they might be the same guy:rolleyes:
 
I don't understand why you don't call, hotrod. You've posted in this thread 48 times, a phone call to clear things up would allow you to provide a more clear answer in further posts.

Why do I have to call them? I don't care if they are ex-military or not. All you tough guys who sit behind your computer here, bashing Strider, should be bad-ass enough to call them, so call. Maybe then you people will be able to go on about your lives.

again, no insult meant to ya i in no way think ya are in the wrong, BUT again, what would ya do if some unknown individual calls ya on the phone and starts asking personal q's, he has no idea who you are, no idea of how he will be quoted, no assurance of accuracy, no idea about your motivations, i dont know if anyone with common sense is gonna comply with ya in a situation like that.

imho its obvious if mick or duane gave a darned about what folks say on BF thery would be right here posting & argueing there inocence, they have not appeared yet, but ya think ya are gonna call 'em and get a response? i dont think so. obviously they dont care about what we (BF) think about them.

and again, imho your heart is in the right place, i dont mean to imply ya arent trying to accomplish anything other than to get the truth out for all to see, i just dont think this is gonna accomplish that.

but hey, give it a whirl, ya never know WTF.

and i in no way am taking up for anyone, nor condoning misrepresenting yourself or your military service, folks who lie about things like that are imho squirrels to put it nicely and should be ashamed of themselves.
 
Evolute I know your intentions are good and pure but I doubt very highly Duane will bother to call you or any one else for the purpose of answering this!!!

But I have a feeling that Silence in this matter might be somewhat of an answer.................but that's my own( I have never talked to Duane ever) speculation of course

I still don't know what to think about the open issues, but I believe an objective person would see who is "whining" in this thread.
