Many times, "charitable" giving from business', especially when the giver makes sure everyone knows about it, is just marketing in disguise.
 
True friend? That is an interesting point.

What is a 'true friend' really? Is the true friend the one that goes to the local jail to bail out the same friend at 2 in the morning on one occasion and then again at 3 in the morning on another and yet again for drunk and disorderly conduct at 11 pm on a third night or is the true friend the one that says, 'look man its high time you clean up your act and straighten up! This is not doing you or your family any good!" ???

The reason I ask is because sometimes a true friend has to make the hard choices not only for whats best for himself but for his friend and sometimes its a true friend that suffers the loss of that tough choice finding out that the one he called friend and thought felt the same way really didn't. I experienced the above scenario with a raving alcoholic friend of mine of 20 years. Its a true story, and you know what happened? They had a get down on Steve hour the next night and now that friend, his wife and his other friend all still do the same thing bathing in alcohol, didn't learn a thing but won't talk to me anymore since they can't rely on me anymore to help them when they get in trouble again. I'm unreliable now you see and I violated that sacred trust by saying something to him on the phone and then following it through by leaving his sorry a$$ in jail rather than pick him up after stopping by the ATM once again on his behave.

Turned out in my book they were not really that deep and the friendship we had was superficial and shallow also when you look at how easily they let it all go just because I would not come out to bail out my friend yet again like I did before and stood by him even though he was guilty, and even after I vouched for him to a judge after he got caught in the act and locked up yet again for it. No I'm unreliable. Silly me huh?

True friendships stand the test of hard lessons. Sometimes it isn't until a hard lesson comes up that you realize who your true friends are and who just gives lip service to that effect.

I am just pointing out that the level of degridation towards the Strider crew is quickly rolling down hill from bad to fubar. I don't see 70+ pages of personal attacks directed at L.T. or at McClung or Crain and I could point out others who are well deserving of a public light upon them. This has imho just become a huge personal vendetta for some involved. Those who have defended the Strider crew and taken things on a personal level have done so because for them it IS personal. Their friends are being publicly lambasted and berated although there is no solid evidence.

I might post again I might not I don't really see anyway of convincing everyone who does not have a dog in this fight to let it go so I will most likely keep quiet and wish you guys happier futures.

Start a thread on them. I'm positive people will say lots of nasty things about them too.
I never knew Lynn Thompson was a dork till I read up on it here, and people STILL never tire of Lynn bashing.
Just check out a few Cold Steel threads, and you'll see it's not a Strider bashing conspiracy here.
 
there are numerous CS threads, plus a huge merge. There are 2 Crain threads in the Hall of Shame. Mad Dog talk has reduced, but the alien spaceship key tang can still be read about.

People find what they are looking for, and this thread is not about those guys.

Lets not lose sight of this thread. Its about people allegedly falsely claiming they are something quite sacred in many folks minds in order to sell knives.

Stolen valor has been brought up a few times in this thread. The link refers to that too.

POWnetwork has been referred to here by some as nothing short of a tabloid looking for a new story so this proves otherwise and that they are in fact doing a great job stopping phonies and that their investigators are quite good and sought after for that service. So there is that.

Fake combat claims have been brought up here where Mick claimed that he and his partner Duane were real combat vets. The link above refers to that as one of the facts of that story.

Basically it has a lot to do with this thread in similar happenings but lets not let it side track the discussion.

EDIT: By the way. There are some new additions to http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies366.htm for Duane as of today.

Sounds like that guys knew him as Duane Poland which certainly brings into question Duane Dwyer's denial that he ever used the name Poland.

It's sad because it sounds like the guy is/was one heck of a Marine and that alone is something to be very proud of. It takes a very special man to be a member of the USMC, with or without heroics..............

Kind of like a Cop; it is quite an accomplishment to be a cop and serve your community with distinction. Even if the only heroics during that career was rescuing a cat from a tree. There is very little difference from being a good, honest, dedicated everyday Cop and a hero Cop, very little.

Too bad.................

If you actually look you will see far more than 70 pages about McClung's actions on Bladeforums, and far more about L.T. too and that one is still going. Not so many pages about Crain because there was no argument -- nobody tried to defend or excuse his actions, or to attack everyone who pointed out what Crain did.
