Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

Thanks for the info.

I have seen them indicate they have knives "in stock" as well as pre-orders with lead times they quote in months. I've wondered how quickly they fill those, since they are not truthful about much of anything and they have a lot of older orders they've left unfilled. Quite surprising they met their commitment in your case, especially since you seem to be just a regular customer and not an influencer.
The one time I clicked on their in stock knives, I’m pretty sure it directed me to a third party seller…not one that I was familiar with. I think it was only for the GSO 5.1s. And when I got to the third parties’ site l, they only had a few left in some very unappealing (to me) handle colors. I doubt that I would have ordered from that site anyway - just wanted to see what the deal was.
But I’ve only seen them have knives in stock twice since I became aware of them last year, so I can’t say for sure if this is usual or not.

I just ran across this from a few weeks back…hope it doesn’t add to the ire here…just sharing what I just saw:

Based on the video, I sent a follow up email again, asking about potential overstock GSO 12s once they finally ship out the orders. I really want to get one if possible, mainly to A/B it against my Bark River Bravo 3. I love big choppers, even though my Silky saws are the smart bet most of the time. If they respond, I’ll post about it.

Take a look at their 2020, 2021 and 2022 monthly production numbers. It's all right there. Also note the dip in 9/22 to 10/22. Meaning they took on even more orders before fulfilling previous orders.

Our top priority in the SURVIVE! workshop right now is fulfilling the oldest open preorders. Those are for the GSO-12, GSO-5.1, GSO-10, and GSO-8. With all of those models at finishing now we are very close to achieving this goal.

Once those models have been completed the remaining preorders will be fulfilled very quickly. The GSO-5.1 was the first production run completely produced by SURVIVE! Manufacturing. As we got settled in to machining the knives ourselves we created more and more process improvements to improve quality while speeding up the production process. With our improved efficiency and smaller run sizes there will be a sharp increase in how quickly we are completing the upcoming production runs.

As we get caught up we are striving to fulfill new preorders within 90 days and have more knives available for immediate delivery.
Neither of these statements has been true. None of the production statements in their videos has come to fruition. So I wouldn't place too much faith in their written or video testimonials.

GSO 12 was supposed to be done months ago.

I have no doubt that that they have let down and pissed off many customers over the years. I’m not an advocate for them by any means. I just really like my new knife.

I just found this guy on YouTube. It’s the only customer video I can find about the GSO-8. He got his a day before me, so I’m guessing there may be some more reviews coming soon. This isn’t a very good video, but I agree with his initial assessment.

.... you are allowed to like your new knife, be happy you got it without the rectal probing some have, but read the room, no one really wants to hear about a new Perish! Knife product....except maybe those folks approaching their 7th year waiting....they would like what they ordered and paid for (including the Delta HT as advertised when Perish! Knerf Co took their $s).

So even though you know they are thieving scumbags running a ponzi scheme, you still want their product?

Survive knives are stupid.
Nope, actually they are pretty clever. They have been running a scam for years and people still want to believe. Take our latest poster here. There are over 3000 posts in this thread, many if not most of which warning potential buyers to beware. Yet he got a good knife (not sure how you could ever trust a knife from these scamsters but never mind) and so all evidence to the contrary he's off to give them another chance to scam him.

Everyone in this forum says to get a CPK ignoring the fact they're damn near impossible to actually get without paying $100 over MSRP for one second hand. Would love one but sadly will probably never own one since I just don't have the energy to wait until they're running the model of knife I want and then to wait for exactly the right time on a Friday to probably be out commented by a bot.
This is exactly what I thought being on this thread a long while back, so I bought a GSO-6 and waited a long time for it. I now have 3 CPK knives and zero Survive knives.

It's very simple to get in on their preorders, and CPK actually delivers them in a timely fashion. They also have sales going on just about every Friday and it's a good opportunity to get a variety of knives that they're currently making. I think the last sale had 6 or so different models available?

It does kind of suck that you can't just order whatever model of CPK you want. Then again, you can order from Survive and have a good chance of not getting your knife at all.

Because they remembered the exact time of the sale and got lucky that their internet just happened to load the forum page faster than the dozens of other people attempting to buy the same batch of knives? I wouldn’t say a whole lot of people have them either, I barely see them even mentioned outside this forum. They certainly seem a lot less common than comparably priced brands like winkler, CRK, busse, etc.
I don't think it's unreasonable to set a reminder for a minute or two before the sale time so you can get the webpage ready. I haven't yet failed to get a CPK I wanted by doing that.

I have two of their knives in hand, and they’re awesome knives. I got them within the timeframe that I was told that I’d get them. When I ordered the knives, I was unaware of this thread. Yes, I would like to add a 12” to my collection. I don’t know how to say it any more clearly than that.

For the last time, I simply saw some YouTube videos about how good these knives were, contacted the company to place an order, and received my knives when I thought I would. I was fine waiting a year for the 8.0 because I was told it would be that long.

And the only reason that I’m even posting on this thread is because I started a new thread about the 8.0 when I received it the other day. I was then showed this thread for the first time in a response to my thread. All I was met with was resentment and/or disbelief that I actually got the knives. My thread was locked, and I’m guessing it’s because people were being rude there. I certainly didn’t say anything nasty to anyone. But then a poster linked my thread to this one in a mocking fashion. Only after this happened, did I begin to post here.

I would not have ordered knives from this company had I been aware of their reputation based on online forums, but I had no idea when I ordered. I did come across some YouTube videos in the past year saying that they had to wait a really long time, but that the knives were great when they got them.

In the picture below, you can see the order date on the invoice, and the shipping dates on the labels of the boxes. Both came within the timeframes that I was told. The 4.5 was only about a month (I had thought it was two months until I just checked), and the 8.0 took 10 months (I had been told it would be up to 1 year):

EDIT: The image hosting compressed the image too much. This should be better to see the ship dates:

The fact you got your knives in no way justifies or excuses the way this company has treated past customers. Seems your moniker is rather fitting.

I think we're all aware that Survive! is making knives and sending them out. The issue is that they seem to prioritize some orders over others and continue taking new orders without fulfilling their backlog. The other issue is that they keep promising that their backlog will be complete in X days and X weeks, which is not remotely true.

The point of this thread is simply to warn others and give some transparency about the company and their history.

I’m not a shill for Survive. This is ridiculous. Look at my account history. I’ve never mentioned Survive once before I started my thread. But it seems like you guys are so bent about the company and the you can’t believe that a customer is actually happy with their products and service.

Once more, the only reason that I commented in this thread is because my thread about my GSO-8 was mocked on this thread as if I was not being honest.

I did all that I could by explaining my very limited experience with Survive, and even showed my invoice and shipping documents. Again, I was completely unaware of this thread until it was mentioned in my thread. Had I known about their reputation here, I wouldn’t have bothered with my thread. I just got a new knife that I really liked, and wanted to discuss it with other knife guys.

I’ll just stop talking about Survive altogether, but you’re going to see me continuing to all about my Demkos, Cold Steels, Spydercos, Tops, etc. I hope that you don’t accuse me of being a shill for every company of which I own knives. You’re basically trolling me for no reason. I have not said anything negative to anyone ever on this forum, and it’s upsetting that I’m being treated as if I’m a liar.

I get that, and I do sympathize with people who have been mistreated by Survive. But I had no idea about this when I ordered knives from them. And I’m sorry if it upsets people that I had a positive experience, but I did.
