Bad Survive! Deserves A Permanent Post In The Hall Of Shame

I always see this thread pop to the top the list when I check the exchange, It's the only reason I know of the company. So I went and looked at the company, the knives looked pretty damn good. Then I watched the youtube channel, and heard their side of the argument. Now I might buy one of their knives.

So there's a chance you guys are making them more sales with the exposer you give them with this multi year 3000 post thread, then they are losing. 😂
You know that thing they say about a sucker being born every minute? Or about leading a horse to water? Or not being able to fix.....

😂

aIf that's true there are a whole lot of people with very poor reading comprehension skills. I'm curious what attracts you to them? Their sleazy character or their failure to deliver the knives people order?
They put up an image of being transparent showing all the steps of the manufacturing process, the knives look good, they use Peter's heat treat. I get that they have a past of taking pre orders and not delivering, this is why I'm asking you guys "what other horrible things are they doing" As I'm assuming you've been taking part in this thread for the last 7 years, and should be able to sum it up easily.

Aside from literally stealing people's money in the past what have these guys done wrong...

You say it yourself and didn't even know it.

"Image of being transparent"

They are not. They no longer post here (by choice, they are not banned) because this place holds them to account whereas other places they can control the narrative.

They have lied about lead times for years. They have lied about turning things around for years.

They were having these issues a few years prior to the initiation of this thread in 2018. At the time they had outstanding orders from 2015. As of December 2022, they still have orders outstanding from 2015.

Give them money if you want. You might get your knife by summer or maybe by summer 2030. Or never if they tank because all the people that are owed knives they already paid for initiate a refund.

I’ve probably read 100 of the 3291 post, but if you wouldn’t mind, could you sum up the worst of their wrong doings over the years?

They basically have run a Ponzi scheme.

Why anybody would trust their manufacturing (heat treat, etc), when you can’t trust their business model is beyond me.

Now back to the CPK forum, hope to see you there.

And now that they seem to have started the biz back up, what happens if you got to their youtube channel and ask them to deliver?

Thanks for the answer, I'm just curious, I've always been interested in the businesses that fail... especially small business because the founders get really weird. Now is that the extent of their lying? or are lying about heat treat and other quality issues?

Trust is like milk, when you look in the fridge and find it soured, you don't put it back and hope it gets better. The mental gymnastics they engage in on youtube are of no interest to me. With so many good reputable options why would I risk my money or support charlatans?

They didn’t ever shut down the biz, or stop taking orders. They’ve just been accumulating orders. They made “factory seconds” and sold those for instant profit. They blamed everyone they worked with why they couldn’t make a single good knife. They brought manufacturing in house and then even blamed kydex for changing their material. Now they tally canceled orders as “completed orders”.

They lie about completion dates. People from 8 years ago still don’t have knives. They’re still taking orders and completing those before people who handed over the full cost of the knife 8 years ago.

They constantly reinvent the narrative so they don’t look incompetent. Someone else’s fault, we now have more capability, we’re focused on eliminating our back orders, you’ll have your knives by Christmas…

People bought knives with the Delta V heat treatment. Now they won’t pay for the Delta V anymore, so people are getting the lesser of two heat treats.

Blade Forums has put them under a microscope and they’ve been found wanting.

The only evidence you need that something’s wrong is that some people are still waiting almost a decade later for a factory built knife.

Propaganda on YouTube is just soooooo much easier to consume though!

I’m sure survive is doing the math to determine the number of dissatisfied customers they can have and still make a profit.

Everybody has an opinion on Survive! Knives. In my experience, I have gone through the 3-year wait for a GSO 5.1. When I received it, the quality was outstanding. I knew that the wait would be long when I ordered. More recently I acquired a GSO 3.5 and a GSO 4.5 Bushcraft from the factory and a NIB GSO 8 from another member here. In all cases, the level of quality exceeded the price I paid. I have two more knives on order from them. Waiting times are nothing unique to Survive!. I have a Vehement Corsair on order which should be delivered sometime this year. I ordered it over a year ago. That's just the way these small shops run. For my part, I have not experienced any dishonesty, just ridiculous wait times.

I get it, it’s good hearing the specifics of the dishonesty.
..... probably read this and the embedded links......

that should catch you up till about 2020 and things seem not better. They have also dropped the Delta HT that was one of their main selling points, so those still waiting years for their order wont in fact get what they ordered if at all.

That's a good pointer, for sure. I think that even includes the parts about them buying new property that "burned down" (financed by undelivered knife income), and links on social media with them living it up on vacation while being over a year behind on delivering product.

I wasn't aware of that. Perhaps I will cancel my existing orders and demand a refund.

You absolutely should. I mean, you may get your knives, but until then they are using your money as an interest free loan to finance their lifestyle. This is a classic ponzi scheme. At some point, someone is going to be left holding the bag and there will be no money to refund. Are the knives good enough to take the risk that it is you?
